FFXIV Forum
Probably a fairly premature thing at this point but there's a lot of topics being generated within the FFXI > General threads about FFXIV. Would it be worth making a new FFXIV > General forum or something of the like to house all these discussions and so information on what has already been discussed is in a more appropriate place?
There already is one~
http://www.eorzeapedia.com/forums/ FFXIAH should keep focus on FFXI, since it's what this page is all about. Just my 2 cents..! I don't want to go to another site to talk about something I'm already talking about here with the community that is here.
It's also something that effects FFXIAH because FFXI itself will change once FFXIV is released. Not only that but the admins of this site have expressed interest in supporting the FFXIV community. What you're basically saying is equivalent to telling everyone on FFXIAH to only talk about Auction House transactions as that's what the main purpose of what the website is about and all discussions about everything else FFXI related should be discussed on the FFXI wiki website. You're obviously not but I'm just being overly dramatic to make a point. People on here still have the right to talk about what they want without having to go to another website to do so. Just saying there is a allready developed forum for FFXIV~
Goody to them, I'm quite happy on here :D
Thanks for the info though, I'm sure someone will appreciate it Also is it just me or does everyone else hate "Eorzea"?
Btw apparently Eorzea is the land mass name not the World name which is Haiderin. Source - http://www.4gamer.net/games/092/G009287/20090604058/ Google translated - http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=n&u=http://www.4gamer.net/games/092/G009287/20090604058/&sl=ja&tl=en&history_state0= The translate is pretty bad but if you scroll down a tiny bit you get: "First, I must explain first that VANADIRU is a term describing the whole world, that EORUZEA is the name of my country. However, we'll get to Maine this place. And the whole world "HAIDERIN" You name it." ハイデリン is the literal Japanese. I assume it should read something along the lines of: "First, I must explain that Vana'diel is a term describing the whole world. Eorzea is a name of the country. However, if we named the world it would be 'Haiderin'." Probably a bad comparison but it reads nicer-ish. Bigger question of the day:
How long will it take for FFXIAH.com to turn into FFXIVAH.com? When there's a game/reason to support it most likely.
Edit: The website has already been registered by one of the admins (think it was Jae?). http://www.ffxivah.com/ Nah I agree completely Bart. I'm still trying to figure out how people manage to put so many words onto all the pages they do when there have only been like 3 times FFXIV has been mentioned, the Sony screening at E3, the SE interview at E3 and the Sony back door interview at E3.
I do enjoy discussing it because personally it's something I look forward to but the amount of "rubbish" that's being posted on these sites is a joke. I have no problem with people like the FFXIAH admin whipping up a quick http://www.ffxivah.com/ site as they have just to reserve the name and let people know to watch this space. While they're at it they may as well chuck up some of the shiny pics that were released (check!).
However, there's something about www.eorzeapedia.com (or however it's spelt) that grinds my gears for some reason. I couldn't figure out where I said premature then I realised it was in the OP. >.>
I actually feel bad for some of my friends because I'm fascinated by FFXIV but I know that not everyone wants to talk about it. I guess this is why I actually want a separate forum for FFXIV because those that do want to read and discuss it can and those that don't can stay away (Not that not-liking a topic has ever kept people away). Less party intensive and more solo friendly?
Hello "Mr. Transistion" I hear your first name is "Fields of Valor" To go back to the point of the topic, I think a FFXIV section is a good idea, even if there's not a single iota of more information released for 6 months, it's not going to stop people talking about it. In actual fact though, I very much doubt this initial hype will even really die down, because there will be more information released, and each time there is the threads about it will multiply. Makes perfect sense to put them all in their own section.
And yes Bart, I agree that FFXIVclopedia (what it would be called if retards didn't make it) is premature. I have no issues with them starting things off now, but just whack up a coming soon(ish) sign in the front window and work on it with the doors closed. Besides, we all know they're going to just copy and paste the FFXI wiki, how much *** work can that take when there's a grand total of about 5kb's of info so far? Wow, I didn't think SE let loose that much info yet. I mean, I thought they were going to wait until Nov to release the 16 jobs. Or the storyline. Or the battle system which is totally different than FFXI. Or the transport system. Or the NM system. Of course, I haven't read the press release yet. Didn't you know it's SE policy to release everything 2 years in advance and then let the fans die in misery waiting for it to come out?
I am making a website about FFXVXIW, by the way. Here, I registered the domain. And you can discuss about it and everything you want to see in this game, including chocobos, and moogles, and hmm... new avatars, and... stuff~
www.ffxvXIWclopedia.org It's neat, and well, even though SE hasn't released even one single byte of info, we can all speculate and build a very large, happy, smiling, fun loving (and most importantly: faithful...) FFXVXIW community! :D On a more serious note, FF XI is the ***. Sure, FFXIV looks neat, if they don't make it into a WoW clone (FF XI was an Everquest clone at release now wasn't it). Remember it was the initial BAD reception and criticism in Japan that pushed SE into tuning up the game and making the first expansions so awesome (without those awesome expansions the game would be close to worthless). Don't make their life too easy now and you might end up having another great MMO... 3-4 years from now... I don't expect it to be great from release, knowing how they're good at *** up sequels, sometimes. /em shedding a tear of despair, looks as far away as possible from the Seiken Densetsu IV box... ; _ ; Orcs are confirmed as playable characters in FFXIV.
Oh man I could have way too much fun with this. I'm just wondering if FFXIV is Rapture or not. SE said on many occassions that Rapture was an MMO they were working on that was NOT FF based. lol
Rapture is the Beastmen version of FFXIV. Like how WoW has Horde and Alliance. It's gonna be Beastmen vs Normal. Sounds cool.
where did you see that? I havent found anything about beastman or orc being playable.
If they do FFXIV that way then im not gonna play it. ooooooo play WoWXI? hell no
It was translated.
Also to be a taru you have to unlock it by completing quests in game. Something about them being overpowered so they only want experienced players to get access to them.
