As title says finally got my lazy azz in gear and got my Calad to 85, is it worth the effort to take it to 90?
How much of a difference will it make?
I really don't think I'll take it past 90 either way...
Thanks in advance!

85 Calad, worth taking to 90?
As title says finally got my lazy azz in gear and got my Calad to 85, is it worth the effort to take it to 90?
How much of a difference will it make? I really don't think I'll take it past 90 either way... Thanks in advance! Unless you are taking it to 99 it is not worth the trouble.

Yea I agree there, it's just that with 8 Empys, and working on more I have to prioritize my time, just want to know the value added I'd receive for the time. I have an 85 Masa, and will have an 85 Arma shortly and also working on making my Kannagi 90... just wondering a pecking order. Solrain said: » Definitely put the Hearts toward 90ing your Masa first. arma after that. 99 your redemption first. Like me... one day....
Fenrir.Ruebyy said: » 99 your redemption first. Like me... one day.... opinion: if youre considering that much effort for a replacable weapon, just make the oat and atleast get the best/cheapest option pre-relic
i left my caladbolg at 85 and used hoarfrost till i finished ragnarok I'd say take it to 90. That trial is very fast and easy. Cala is better then most people give it credit for and you can always work on Rag after.
Dual wield calad and rag on rune fencer*
I took my calad to 90 and i love it. I still play around with it even with a 99 ragnarok. The ODD level 3 AM is just insane, and Torcleaver can be a very strong ws (though not like resolution) to bounce SC's off of for additional damage and MB's.
No matter what weapon you use, make sure you gear your other ***right. See too many oat/rag DRKs who don't know how to equip anything but their g.sword.
Arma 90/Masa 90 = Best options pre 95-99 Empyrean
Caladbolg 90 = Hardly better than a Hoarfrost, worse than OAT and Ragnarok by a huge margin. Ragnarok.Presidentobama

Will a liberator beat an apoc, and rag at 99?
I got everything done for a mythric as well as all the alex to make one. But can't decide if it will beat out my other weapons. Or even if it can, maybe I should save it for Rune Fencer. As SE said X relic, X empy, but yes Mythric. Could be the first. Carbuncle.Anesthesia

Phoenix.
liberator is just a toy dmg wise until they come out with a resolution-esk ws for scythe

Take it to 90. 90 empys and 95 relics are base line for standard end gamers imo.
If your main event is still voidwatch (or any other event where 300% tp aftermath is kept up with little sacrifice to weaponskill damage and accuracy is capped):
99calad>99rag>95calad>95rag>90calad>OAT>85calad>Borealis If you use your drk in other events where keeping 300% tp aftermath is more annoying: 99rag>95rag>99calad>OAT>90calad>Borealis Also worth noting that war sub plus fighters roll and an optimal tp set (one with plenty of multiattack) substantially hurts OAT great sword as an option. Who doesn't sub sam? :P Also if you have the OaT Gsword you don't gear for multi-hit, no? Who doesn't sub sam? :P Also if you have the OaT Gsword you don't gear for multi-hit, no? /war is needed for most halls in legion. Just because you don't gear for multihit doesnt mean I will not be. Any important event I'm going to on drk, I have an 11ed fighters roll with a war in party (+24% dbl attack). My capped magic haste gear set has 15 dbl attack in it (along with 2 triple and 3 quad, but let's focus on the dbl attack for now). /war sub that puts me at 49% double attack. Easy to see why OAT's use falls off quickly. And in those situations you're using OaT in the first place?
Point is, broad statements such as OaT>90 Calad are not entirely true.
Fenrir.Curty said: » Point is, broad statements such as OaT>90 Calad are not entirely true. LOL that's a no. But I get your point mate lol. Fenrir.Curty said: » Point is, broad statements such as OaT>90 Calad are not entirely true. Another thing to remember is in the event your stacking multihit gear to reach your ~49% DA, the lil TA and 3% QA. OAT users that use it properly would maintain their 5hit even while recieving regain since we gain lil to nothing from stacking multigear and losing the 5hit as a result so we still maintain the 40% OAT a devauled amount of DA from the fighters roll, Brutal/Atheling/Armada, and 2% QA from ganesha's mala. So while your Calad multihit gear set drops you to a 7hit + regain, OAT users remain at 5hit + regain and the same amount or more multihit giving them a far superior WS frequency. Just something to consider since thats something alot of people tend to over look. |
