I have 100 cooking and 100 fishing with no caps broken via the GP item yet for 110.

I'm about to finish legit Lu Shang and I'm thinking about breaking my 70 cap on woodworking so it can go to 80 for repairing the rod as I am sure to break it 253285602532 times on Lik and Gug until ebisu. I am under the assumption that by taking a craft to 80 I cannot extend cooking to 110 seeing that fishing is probably still separate.

What happens if I take woodworking to 80 and complete my ebisu? Can I turn in my guild item for cooking to extend the cap to 110 which will delevel my woodworking back to 70?

I just wanted to make sure i had the process correct before I possibly attempt this.

Yes, you'll have to be careful though with wood broken cap. After you lvl cooking to 110 and do a synth that is higher than 70 on wood, you might delvl cooking unintentionally.

So when you take cooking to 110 your woodworking rank stays uncapped so you can accidentally 0.1 and delevel the cooking to 100?

So... follow up question... can you break the caps on all crafts @ 70 to get the next title for synergy and still take something to 110? I never ever craft anything other than food fish or synergy anyways so I don't foresee that being a problem in the long run. And are you sure its ANY 0.1 that will delevel the 110 or do you have to hit 71?

It's kinda dumb that they would leave you uncapped like that once you take something to 110. They should adjust that.

yeah I used to break every lvl cap for 60 and keep pushing cloth to 100. breaking the cap does nothing for the 40 lvl limit we're given

I was smithing for friends and saw my cloth delvl as soon as I got a 0.1 above 60, very disheartening lol

This is why the lvl cap exist though, to prevent that danger. Remember at any time you can talk to your guild and they will say "you dumbass you got high lvl in multiple crafts. want to delvl them all to 70 so you can get cooking 110?"

and if you hit yes, everything but your main craft delvls and recaps itself blue boxed
Oh really so if I did everything outlined in the OP... once I finish ebisu and want to take cooking to 110, i can talk to cooking guild and delevel woodworking to 70 and blue cap it to prevent these mistakes? I'm just trying to make sure I understand 100%.

As far as i no, you can not blue cap a craft after delvling it.

If you have cooking at 100, and take WW to 80 for repair rods, and then deside to take cooking up to 110, your ww will drop back to 70.

Once your ww is 70 again, it will not be blue capped. Meaning if you do a 71+ ww recipie, you might get a +.1 skill up. If that happened, your Cooking will delvl from 110 to 109.9 Which means you would have to recap cooking again.

So you have to be carefull with what you craft

right now you could take woodworking to 80, then talk to your cooking guild npc. He will say "I noticed your mind is full of far too much these days my friend. Your chefness will surely decline at this rate. But for you I can recap all your crafts and delvl them all to lvl 70 capped 'Craftsmen'" and if you click yes, all your crafts will delvl to craftsmen and capped lvl 70 except cooking.

hmm.. never new that.. (never had to try that)

Amazing info in this thread. The most helpful parts were the delevel from 110 to 109.9 for 70.1 and that you can blue cap a deleveled 70 by talking to your main guild.

Thanks very much guys.
