Dear fellow ffxi party enthusiasts,

I am starting a linkshell based entirely around old-school party play, if this is something you are interested in, please read on.

Ever since the introduction of grounds of valor and abyssea, the standard 6-man experience party has all but disappeared. While most welcome this as an improvement, for some of us running or being part of a well-organized party was one of the high points of the game. I am one of those people.

Therefor, I'd like to meet and join up with people who share this sentiment. People who liked being a designated role in a party, people who liked renkei and magic bursts, people who liked camping or roaming in one of Vana'diel's multitude of areas, people who liked being an indispensable part of a well-oiled machine. As I know some of you must still exist, I hope to contact you this way.

As such, I plan to start my own linkshell, dedicated entirely to the game-play of old, the focus on exploration and adventuring with an emphasis on teamwork and group-play. This linkshell will exist purely to relive the game as it, in my humble opinion, was meant to be played.

I am not looking for “members” for my linkshell, I am looking for like-minded individuals who are willing to take the scenic route to level 75. And thus, I have this offer to make you: anyone who joins this linkshell will always be helped if they are stuck, always be pointed in the right direction if they are lost and always be welcome no matter what job they choose to level.

Of-course the intent of the linkshell is not limited to just experience parties. Missions, quests and all content that is “lost” will be organized. This includes all content that the community at large considers “pointless” since there is no longer a need for the rewards that can be obtained in that content. After all, if you have read this far, it means you are more interested in the journey than the destination :)

This leaves me nothing but the invitation:

Please join us, either via our forum or directly on Bahamut (contact Azraelle). I look forward to meeting all of you.

Well if you wanted a HNM LS just do the KSNMs and a bring a Lv75 player to level sync to and when you pop the NMs you can level sync again. If you really wanted to live in the past everyone would have gear and weapons 75 or under for all ls events.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong please, but it just seems that Patrician wants to level with a group of people like before without looking for a party and having a group available to do stuff with w/e anyone is online.

There is plenty of events to do early on that many new players missed out on, and I'm sure there are a handful of players still around that would be interested in something like this.

I don't see it as about old ffxi is better than new ffxi, it's just some players enjoyed it back then more than they do now. If you removed LFP completely and had a linkshell to do things with with players you enjoyed being around with I could see it as an enjoyable thing to do.

The OP does seem to point out he thinks the old is better than the new, but I don't think that is the point of this thread. It is about players who would be interested in joining this type of linkshell to do events and level like you did before and isn't for everyone, because the majority of players today wouldn't dare go back to days like that.

I enjoyed merit parties, way more fast paced than running back and forth between worms.

*** off, at least this guy was open, honest, and not a douche about what he wanted like previous attempts.

If the man wants to level in the old zones in the old style, *** off and let him.

every few weeks, i see these "lets just be 75 & do colibri parties!" posts or shouts in-game. i apologize, but my brain immediately converts those QQs into a more accurate statement that reads like this: "i just came bk to the game & either cannot comprehend the new content, or i haven't bought any expansion packs."

nonetheless, good luck.

Level sync on Abyssea Colibri, don't use atma or cruor buffs! There's a challenge right there.

The difference is that those games haven't changed and evolved over the years. The game people are trying to relive is gone.

Except you can still go back and do it, for the most part.

^ This with the increased exp even old school camps and stuff have changed from getting 200 a kill to like 400-500 a kill. Honestly it sounds fun I wouldnt mind joining if it were on my server just for old times sake.

Affaltus Solace was released at 75, though. (Alright, am late on this apparently. I can add that it was released with the first mini-expansion, ACP.)

I honestly do understand the notion of wanting to relive old experiences (I played through all 3 DKCs and the Super Marios on SNES this summer and am currently playing through Zelda: ALTTP), but the mechanics of various things have changed in a way that it's literally impossible to relive the game you remembered. Such is a MMO.
