So, you've finally obtained your Mavi Bazubands and/or Mavi Basmak! Congratulations! (For the sake of simplicity and to make this post less confusing, let's say they're +2 - although +1 and NQ naturally apply here as well.) After hours, days, weeks, maybe even months of hard work, you've finally managed to get your hands on these awesome pieces of gear. Now to put them to good use!
Mr. Blue: "90% of the BLU on my server full-time these, so they must be great to TP in! Let me just add them to my macro-"
STOP!
Open up your inventory.
Place the cursor over the aforementioned item(s).
READ!
Everything sink in? Ok, let's move on.
I'm assuming that if you've been able to acquire these items, that you've leveled up BLU to around the level where you'd be able to equip them, or at least have a job high enough to be useful in farming them. What this means is that you should have a basic idea of how you're supposed to gear for certain things. Now I don't mean you have to know exactly how damage is calculated or anything else "advanced" like that but I'd expect you to at least know that if you're TPing, you should fill all of your slot with Haste, accuracy, attack etc.
Easy enough, right? It's common sense. These items offer no beneficial stats for TPing, so you shouldn't use them. Understand?
Mr. Blue: "no lol"
...ok let me make a simple real life analogy. Let's say you have to hammer a nail into the wall. You're obviously going to use something that useful for the task at hand, right? What would you use to hammer a nail into a wall? Hint: The answer is in the question.
Mr. Blue:
That's... no you'd use a hammer to hammer a nail into the wall... A hammer.
Mr. Blue: "tomato sauce!! :Q__"
Right, tomato sauce. Forget the analogy thing... Let's try this.
Scroll back up to the pictures of the gear. Read them again. Now do that thing you learned to do when you were little and take the words that your eyes have seen and send that information into your brain. If it's not processing automatically, it's ok to use a screwdriver. Phillips, not flat-head. Some of the words you should have read are:
Magic Accuracy
Magic Attack Bonus
INT
MND
Blue magic recast delay -
Occasionally augments blue magic spells
Enmity - (you can disregard this one cuz it's a fancy word)
Notice a trend? Now think about which stats are useful when you're swingificating your swords around:
Haste
Accuracy
Attack
STR
DEX
Now do that brain thing again. Do any of these stats match up? If you get confused or don't know, click the spoiler button for the answer.
No, none of those match up.
With this is mind, we can come to the conclusion that,
under no circumstances, should you have these items equipped while you're swinging swords. Make sense? Are you still gonna be TPing in these?
Mr. Blue: "yes lol"
asdadsfadsfadsfadssdfasd
Why? Why would you TP in this gear?! When you look at it, what about it screams "TP!"? I went over this so many times! There is NO excuse. None!
Mr. Blue: "fu they look cool"
No, they don't look cool. You look like a middle-eastern battle-hooker. When people check you and they read the stats, you will be labeled an idiot. Just physically seeing the gear on someone is like a big neon pink sign with an arrow pointing to you that says "Moron!".
Mr. Blue: "its my $12.95 a month and i do what i want"
So you're smart enough to be able to read your FFXI bill but you can't read stats and see that they're terrible? Stop shitting up our job. We're one of the most powerful jobs in the game when played right but we have a negative stigma because of stupid people like you.
Mr. Blue: "its +2 gear and i want to show it off and at least its not aurore"
Then wear it in town. Furthermore, at least the people wearing Aurore
have proper gear in those slot. Sure, it's not the best gear but it shows that they at least know what stats benefit them as opposed to what stats do absolutely nothing.
Mr. Blue: "ur an elitist"
Well you're an idiot. Look, I don't expect everyone to have the best gear, as long as they have a brain about it. Get some Dusk Gloves and Ledelsens at least! Hell, like I said, even Aurore is better! You can get both from the AH and they're cheap as hell.
Mr. Blue: "i dont like the movement down from duck gloves"
Make a movement macro or at the very least switch to your spell gear when you run then.
Mr. Blue: "i dont swap gear lol"
Why am I not surprised? Just stop playing BLU already...
Mr. Blue: "tomato sauce!! :Q__"
Forget it.
