Shock is elemental magic, there's no thunder debuff that you can AoE that works for the trial unless Absorb-MND is actually considered Thunder, which I don't think it is.
Could Stunga right before the nuke lands? lol

Doesn't work. For whatever reason Stun doesn't count as a Thunder status ailment, tried with Sudden Lunge, Whirl of Rage, Thunderbolt, and the actual Stun spell.

sooooo Absorb MND is the only spell that works for the Thunder-Macc Trials? then i'll just need to go like SCH/DRK an AoE Absorb MND and maybe have my friend kill the all the mobs for me.

I would assume water threnody would work as well, but you can't really AoE it. You could have a blu pull and sleep the mobs, once water threnody is on them, kill them.

Question (Strictly opinionated of course)

do you believe ToM is more beneficial for smn or blm?

I was thinking just getting the wind staff for smn, and ice/thunder/dark for blm

Ill get them all ultimately but just the top on my list job currently, example arka IV which is good all around for curing.

There are staves for BLM, and there are staves for SMN, exclusively. You need to research which paths you want to do first. BLM, or SMN Staves.

But, honestly, ToM is better than Chatoyant Staff.

For an example: Would you rather use Chat.Staff or Arka IV to heal with? Would you use Vourukasha I or Chat. Staff to Ice nuke in?
Arka IV and Vourukasha I are both ToM Staves. Ultimately saying, that ToM is better than Chatoyant Staff.

However, Chatoyant Staff saves inventory Space. I use Chatoyant for Enfeebling spells though.

If you /sch or have a scholar with you for storms, then chat staff is around 10% less damage than "affinity: +6 damage".

For curing:
ItemSet 300352

So you can take full advantage of day/weather bonus when it occurs and you don't need to carry Arka anymore. (4% over cap in that set, so you can use NQ Nefer body if you dont have Heka's and still be at 49%).

Chatoyant is pretty darn good for space and for macc. It's also a really good perp staff. I have no major MP issues without ToM staves on SMN and cap BP reduction with gear easily since many pieces have large amounts now. On SMN I just use a Chatoyant + Soulscourge. Planning on upgrading to one of Adoulins avatar:MAB+40something staves though.

For BLM the magian are tops but if you have weather, obi, cape and a good amount of elemental affinity via atma's then the Chatoyant pulls ahead by a bit.

I'm not sure if the new Adoulin MAB+71 staff is better than magian or not though. Anyone have one and checked it out?

Adoulin hq crafted, fully aug'd delve, and best aug. skirmish lose to ToM when you do not have abyssea buffs. Inside abyssea test whether your increase in int and MAB will outdo your ToM and/or chat. Staff.
