I personally haven't had much use of the PlayOnline mail since I've bought the game back in late '05-06. Recently, as of last night, I got a mail message... that I can't get to..
I've tried taking my password out, I've tried using the original password I used for the account, And I've even tried using the recent one I use.

No avail.

I did a bit of googling and came across this thread on the official forums: Click Me

The issue with that thread is, I don't believe it was ever resolved. So I ask you, my fellow FFXIAHers.. What gives? Does anyone know if they stopped support of PlayOnline mail? Also, if they did, Why did I suddenly get a mail message on it a few hours ago?

What the fawk.

How the hell do I delete it -_-; I can't even get into my email for some dumb reason.

And why not just send it to my actual email.. You know, like they do with EVERYTHING ELSE.

I got the same thing a little while ago, I logged into the Square Enix Account Management website and was able to change my password in there. Log in, go down to Services & Options and click Select Service, PlayOnline/Final Fantasy XI, click Options List next to your POL ID, and down at the bottom of the page there should be a few options for editing stuff, including your POL mail and password. It doesn't ask you to enter your old password when you go to change it.

No problem, I was really irritated at the thought of having to stare at that blinking envelope icon for the rest of my FFXI career too. =p

Cool, thanks! I've had about 12 emails on there for the past 4 years or so. Now I can finally erase them without a care in the world and end the blinking I had so gotten used to!

Yeah I forgot my password a long time ago but before I did I set it to delete mail after a day. Since other players already said it was the california concert advertisement I wont even bother to reset my password but its nice that we have that option!

^ YES! So last month I contacted SE on how to do this, and they told me that they no longer support the POL email system and that there is no way to change your password if you had forgotten your old one.

Call me crazy, but the blinking mail icon in the FFXI screen DRIVES ME CrAzY!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Themuffingirl for pointing out something that I can't explain how I never saw...

How pissed you would be if you had a blinking envelope on your window for 8 years and used the information of this thread to solve it then find out that the envelope you kept staring at for 8 years was just a spam from BROGAME.COM ?

Updating your POL password used to clear the blinking mail icon. I did that for years on my alt before I finally broke down and called SE to reset it.

Thanks a ton, almost missed my chance to collect my memories before they ended service, you saved my happiness. Thank you a ton, darn SE hiding this at the bottom of active/inactive character page.

Title needs correction, "Wherefore art thou," wasn't actually asking where Romeo was.

It was Juliet asking why her love was from a feuding family.

I was just *** about with a name. Doesn't really hold any meaning other than "CLICK ME"

Doesn't really matter, I know what you were going for and I assume everyone else does too. Was just a bit of interesting information a lot of people don't know.
