I heard the mod kinda' went downhill a bit since release.. or so my friends tell me?
Totally didn't stop me from taking advantage of the steam sale on Operation Arrowhead.. (Already own Arma II)
So I guess I'll be playing it either way!

Game is so amazing, even though it's still in pre-alpha stage and hackers are everywhere. Don't let the hackers bring your mood about the game down, there are plenty of servers that don't have them on and decent admins are available. Either way, it's great to have some people from the community playing! :D

It's a nice game, the concept is great, but the current shoot on sight mind that everyone has ruins so much potential.

Just a quick warning, US 303 is under attack my hackers incase anybody is on/goes on the server. The shooting on sight is due to being backstabbed by people all the time. The veterans are showing how 'good' they are by teaming up with some fresh spawn that has never played the game and shooting him in the back of the head not so long later. People have a extremely low sense of security when playing and only works out well if you meet people on vent/skype/raidcall and talk through there. Best off trying to find a group, otherwise:

Yeah, I've managed to get the rarest weaponry in the game, but always seem to loose them by dying to glitches. :P

Can't be any worse than me finding a Hand of God, then proceeding to swan dive off of the tower near the international because my survivor felt like being suicidal that day, and decided to run and go prone instead of just going prone where he was.

I don't play the game, but I kinda agree with the shoot on sight rule. In the world of a zombie apocalypse you shouldn't trust anyone you don't know, and keep an eye out for signs of infection among the ones you keep close. If you come across a stranger you have no way of determining if they are a survivor, a bandit, or a thief.

The game obviously is designed to be as close to a real zombie apocalypse scenario as possible, and it's obvious that they wanted you, the player, to make these critical choices while playing. You can't, and shouldn't, trust anyone you do not know. If you come across a stranger you have no way of knowing if they are simply trying to survive, or luring you into a trap.

When dealing with strangers you have only two options:
  1. Risk everything by trusting a stranger.

  2. Avoid the risk of getting you and everyone else killed by taking out the problem while you still have a chance.

The two players that got everything stolen from them deserved it. They didn't stay safe and they gave their trust away to strangers. I don't think everyone should shoot someone on sight, but trust is not something you should give away easily in a scenario like the game puts you in. There are no heroes in the end.

Seems like a fun game and I'm not sure why other zombie games aren't like that.

Because they're sure that most of us want a run and gun zombie game without any real survival situations. For years there's been plenty of us zed heads who have been completely clear that we want a zombie game with proper survival and real choices. Sadly instead of obliging us they told us that it would be boring, and piled another generic Zombie game on our head.

I'm glad that the developers have seen that people are not just ok with playing a survival horror game set in a zombie apocalypse, but people are very enthusiastic about it. I'm personally hoping that this game will be the Minecraft of the Zombie genre.

also i recently transferred my steam and games from my Cstorage to my Estorage. and it works... but if i put a shortcut on my desktop (on cstorage) it wont work.. so how do i get around that?

After reading the thread last night I looked into this game more. I want to try it but it looks waaay too buggy to warrant the money for ARMA 2, and you can't set servers to private to play with friends without setting up a private LAN server yourself with another account.

Since TERA was a cesspool of PvPvE I'm extremely hesitant to pick up another game of that type since it always brings out the worst of the gankers/backstabbers/5000 snipers camping the outskirts.

this is all I've heard too, maybe if it was still at the steam sale prices but 30 bucks for a very crappy looking shooter with some novelty stuff is too much D:

Eh way I see it is you pay $30 for Arma because it's required to run the mod. I hold nothing against DayZ when it breaks because it's been in Alpha/Beta the whole time.
If it were a stand alone then I'd have an issue.
