Does anyone know how to add the term "Killshot" to auto translate? I've tried the "term" <space> <tab> <keyboard> <alt key> <escape> method which works for most things but not this one.

It would be super helpful for doing Staff Trials where you need an avatar for a Killshot and not a general SMN party.

Thanks!!

You can only add item names to the auto translate not individual words, could try Finishing Moves if it's in there but can't remember.

If its not a term in the game then you're not able to translate it.

/translate "Killshot" would be how you added something to the translator.

Killer Instinct would work. Or at least its what I put in my message when I do trials.

Could just use google translate. In japanese I guess you could just say saigo no kougeki. half of auto trans sucks so either learn the other languages or well, use auto-trans lol. Can auto trans the words final, attack, monster, and death. I'm sure you could work with that. You mentioned SMN so (Final)(Attack)(Pet)(Target)(Monster)(Death)(Can I have it?) or something.

Avatar Killer
神獣キラー

Anyone able to confirm it or not? I just put the two together from the wiki.

Nvm, that is the opposite which would be killing avatar's not having them kill.

アバターのキラー

This is "Avatar killer". Yours was "God killer beast".

Irrelevant.

can use one of the JP wiki like elemen. just use the search up top and stick to english, it will open up a google seach to a page you go to that should what you were looking for. they have everything translated so just look for it slowly. I'll say it in simple steps to make sure I made sense. Open main page > Use search bat at top right > Use the link provided by google > Slowly read the page and find what you need. It will be in both japanese and english. Can copy paste the japanese into google translate and enable the photetic typing so you can see the words not in japanese characters. Anyway willing to try this out and confirm or explain better than me? lol

ペットで止め
I can read that easy, just says stopped pet. Which sounds more like you're telling someone to stop using their pet or pull back their pet.

I'm on Skype with a FFXI japanese player, not that I didn't believe you but I am asking him to tell me what the easiest way to handle this would be and what should be said between players. From his perspective as a japanese player mind you.

Edit: Yeah I was just used to ペット〆 and read ペットで止め as petto de tome instead of petto de todome. So you can say petto shime or petto de todome as poster above me said. He said you dont have to say anything else but either of those and they'll respond.

I mean if you were on BST, PUP or SMN doing those trials and say (Pet) (Final) (Attack), I would think it'd be pretty obvious...

Thanks for all the input folks. The reason I needed this was not just for Shouts but when I'm in a zone and people want to do say Aoelian Edge or Fell Cleaves. These options won't work.

For these staff trials it's the <Avatar> that needs the final kill so some of these I hadn't thought of before or how to get that across.

So.. <Garuda>"Trial #" <Final><Death> or <Attack> would work perfectly. I was so obsessed with "Killshot" I didn't bother to think of alternatives. Lol.

When I was working on PDT trials for BST pet axes I'd used, "monster death = pet!" All 3 terms are in auto translate... throw in job/ weapon type/ element from autotrans and that should be plain enough to bring your point across. Simple is always best... key thing is focus on what you're really trying to say not how you would naturally say it in English.

It's very important to realize that even if a string of auto-translated words makes perfect sense in English, it very likely will not make sense in Japanese. I recommend using the actual Japanese phrases stated earlier, assuming you are trying to communicate with Japanese players.

I totally agree but doesn't mean you can't use the auto trans period.

weapon quest: death = pet should be more than adequate. it may not look elegant on the other side, but we're just aiming to communicate intent here.

The above string is worlds different that saying May Bee and similar strings of nonsense that people think will translate.

Just goes to show you have to use your head a bit... :/

The official magian trial log for any kill shot is 止めを刺す (todome wo sasu) so to alleviate any ambiguity... adding pet, or the name of an element, or anything in front of that should be perfectly clear.

Also the official jp wiki is http://wiki.ffo.jp/, elemen has fallen out of favor by and far.

Edit: you can search a lot of English terminology on the JP wiki, as well as any item/spell/ability name and get to the right page
