[Dev] Duration of Blue Mage Buffs

Thanks for the easy to read list and your suggestions.
We ran the feedback by the development team and they mentioned that since blue magic spells have such high stats, they would like to proceed with adjustments carefully. Basically, if we were to extend the effect durations right now, the MP cost for the time granted would be lower, causing blue mages to be in a superior position, so thought needs to given to this when making adjustments.
Of the list that was given, there was an impression that Feather Barrier being a passive skill is difficult to really utilize within the short effect duration of 30 seconds, but for the rest of the spells the development team feels that they are not extremely difficult to utilize within their effect durations.
We will be adjusting Diffusion in the next version update and this will enhance the usability of these blue magic spells further, so we would like to see the effects from this and determine the necessity for adjustments. | |

Or, y'know, they could just increase the MP costs and recast times in proportion to the duration.
But I also recognize that the job needs to be different, so I'm fine with it. I'm just curious how big of an impact the Diffusion merits are going to have.

Diffusion merits will have exactly zero effect on any BLU capable of rational thought; the only difference now will be that it's worth putting one merit into Diffusion with the static recast.[li][/li]

45% increased buff duration is absolutely meaningless.

45% increased buff duration is absolutely meaningless. What I'm gathering from this discussion is that the Diffusion merits are going to affect every spell, and that they're not going to make any base duration adjustments until they get feedback from the Diffusion merits change.
Also, is 11.25% seriously the amount each additional merit improves durations?

no, it's 5% for the 4 after the first, and an extra 25 from mirage charuqs +2, for a total buff duration increase of 45%. It's a negligible bonus that does nothing to resolve the issue or make Diffusion worth more than one merit. If they knew how their game and basic math worked, they'd realize how a 45% bonus to 60 seconds is still ***, especially when the JA that does it is on a 10 minute CD.
I'd pay 200MP for a 3-5 minute Triumphant Roar.

Wow, that does suck. But that's really good to know though. I've been holding off on finishing my group 2 merits on Blue Mage for a while because I wasn't sure on the Diffusion duration bonus (though I was leaning towards Enchainment anyway).
If it was significant (25% per upgrade after the first for a 2x duration bonus) I'd have considered it, but 5% is just laughable. Enchainment it is!

Lol....you can tell...that probobly 85% of the development team...have never unlocked bkue mage...much less play it. Perhaps they failed math as well...
