Australian/New Zealand, and Other Players: Linkshell Proposal
Still waiting.
I hope the organiser runs their linkshell this efficiently.
Judging by various factors, Garuda is deemed to be the best location for this linkshell to be formed. I'm going to set up a domain/vent/website stand by for more details in the next few days.
Thanks. Sweet, just let us know when the site is up for us to apply and whatnot.
As soon as August hits, there will be the usual monthly registration maintenance, once that's over the server transfer option is reopened, so I'll be heading to Garuda then, need to make sure the LS name is not taken before I can register the domain. In the meantime I've been typing out all the information about how each system will be run so everybody knows straight off the bat how things will be handled (no hidden surprises) and whether or not it is the right linkshell for the people who are interested. I've typed out a good deal of information and it'll be ready by tonight/tomorrow.
For now, thanks to all that have been patiently waiting. I will post a link to the website, as soon as its up. Going start sending out PM's to all those that have expressed interest in this LS. If people have any questions regarding the soon to be released info feel free to contact me for a further explanation if needed. Looking forward to it Brenden, got a few mates that will be coming. We are located in Melbourne. If Odin gets reopened, we should maybe join Karusan. Or over to Leviathan to join up with Alyssiah because they already have a base of Aussie players in one location. I dont really care which server we are going to.
Sending you a PM now.
As I said before, you guys will always be welcome in our LS on Odin once it's opened up but I wouldn't want to be the reason for the break up of the OP's linkshell. I think what needs to be kept in mind is that we are primarily focussed on Sea, Sky, Limbus, Pop NM/Events where the OP (I believe) is aiming for HNM as a primary goal, meaning creating a revenue for the player base.
As such there would probably be a lot of goals and rules in place that our linkshell would simply not take on. TBH, our LS doesn't really have any rules, just very simple guidelines for how we do points and award drops and that's enough for us. We've tried to make it a place where Aussies or other english speaking players in our timezone can hang out, do missions, events and enjoy the game in a very stress free environment without any attendance requirement, if you wanna go out on a friday/saturday night go for it. I wish the OP the best of luck and all the other aussies that end up out that way, I hope you finally find a home and I'm just sorry that we can't offer it to you right now. good stuff.. so garuda is where you have choosen? Ill check out the website once its up
Awesome news! I'm really looking forward to it.
Oh, and I also vote for the name to be Vegemite. Vegemite aint australian no more is it?

Cause I'm currently 0/21 on 2-5.. Fenrir really is that bad for PuGs Go ahead and apply anyway (which u have already), its preferred, but not life or death.
Thanks. im wondering?
you want everyone to apply but ur only 1 in ls atm? just a thought why we apply when we dont even know if ls will work yet i dont know u, have u had endgame exp? is it worth 50 bucks for me to jump server, dont get me wrong id love an all aussie ls doing things my time but yeh, maybe i think too much You could also wait and see if they open up Odin again if this shell seems a little too intense for you. Looking at the work Nednerb has already put in, I have a lot of faith in his ability to run an end-game shell, but the basic schedule and events run in the shell are too much for me personally, even if I didn't already have a good shell. I'm sure there a lot of people who enjoy that sort of play style, but I know there are also a lot of people who would prefer a much crusier setting.
Hopefully Odin will be open again soon, it's certainly quietened down a lot since being closed so it's possible. Good luck to all anyway, regardless of what you do. yeh i think i look @ maybe not in the anzac ls site i read yeh i c nednerb has done a lot work but it takes more then 1 to run a hnmls endgame ,what if these apps yeh get accepted but dont transfer, should i jump servers now , for what?

By the looks of the current exchange rate. We aussies pay $28 for a Server Transfer, personally $28 at the chance of being able to put some fun back into FFXI is worth it for me. But that's my opinion. I trust that Nednerb will run this linkshell properly and I'm sure the others who are swapping do to. If you don't trust 1 person, why not trust all of us? Blact said: im wondering? you want everyone to apply but ur only 1 in ls atm? just a thought why we apply when we dont even know if ls will work yet i dont know u, have u had endgame exp? is it worth 50 bucks for me to jump server, dont get me wrong id love an all aussie ls doing things my time but yeh, maybe i think too much Applications have always been a formal procedure into getting some background information on players interested in the linkshell. Whether its an old or new linkshell its necessary. I can collect the information, find out how many people have a specific job, what crafts they have, where they live, etc. This tells me what I need and don't need for future applications. Personally I think organisation is a key factor in whether a starting LS can live or die; I've seen and experienced the differences it can make. I understand your concern, you don't know who I am, and in a applications mind you need to spend money to make this happen, its natural to doubt whether it can work or if its worth it because of these factors, and because of the way the World Transfer Service is setup it doesn't make it easy. I can sit here and tell you how amazing I may be and list all my qualities and accomplishments, but at the end of the day you can only take what I say at face value. So yes on your part it is a gamble, its a gamble for me too. What I can tell you is, I left everything I had behind to make this work, and it isn't something I just thought up over the weekend but something I have wanted to do for over 2 years, only now, for the first time, I've had the opportunity to push it forward, I want this to work, I need this work. I'm setting up my future for this game, as we get older, we get a new job or work more hours and our dream of playing with our American friends diminishes, with nowhere to turn to what do we do? I refuse to roll over and die. Blact said: yeh i think i look @ maybe not in the anzac ls site i read yeh i c nednerb has done a lot work but it takes more then 1 to run a hnmls endgame ,what if these apps yeh get accepted but dont transfer, should i jump servers now , for what? Your right in one respect, it takes more than one person for an HNMLS or any linkshell for that matter to run, but in terms of managing a linkshell there's no better person to get the job done. There's nothing else I can really say to give you reassurance, but if you have your doubts perhaps its better to sit back let it grow for a bit and then ask yourself again later, or, just go for it now. You yourself are in that position to make a choice, your jobs, gear, and experience can carry you through but not everyone is like you and I, some may consider this as a haven to experience the game for what it really is, and jump at the chance, for that I am grateful. I know there's players out there like me, that are tired of waking up at 8AM to do a 4 hour dynamis, or only be able to farm sky or sea, and never take part in the actual NM battles. EU players put up with it, they broke off years ago to form their own localised linkshells. Its our turn. Nednerb said: that are tired of waking up at 8AM to do a 4 hour dynamis Try 1AM due to having school from 7AM - 4PM. As soon as this credit card stuff is sorted out, I'll be server changing.. For some assurance, ive just migrated across from Caitsith. See the rest of you soon!
Mango I have read most of the "Governing System" over the linkshell forum. It is a fair and extremely complicated system. How is this going to workout? I can visualize many worksheets to keep the record, my concern is, 1) how to keep up with this complicated system in long terms? 2) Does every event count as individual and chop a deal when it ends? Some events like farming and Boss-killing may not be on the same day. 3) What happen if sudden event begins, for example, wyrms claimed and killed, while all leaderships are away from game, how can the contribution and distribution be calculated?
About the linkshell, what is the minimum number of members to begin the very first event, and what is the best size for the linkshell? What do you suggest for those who are interested but still observing the linkshell grow, to do? We are looking forward the linkshell to be successful, but I am sure there people who want "risk-free server transfer" and don't take action until linkshell in good shape. Personally I am impressed by your passion and abilities to organize information from all you have done, thank you, sir! You have the respect from a lot of people like myself. Yayajax said: How is this going to workout? I can visualize many worksheets to keep the record, my concern is, 1) how to keep up with this complicated system in long terms? The system is complicated yes, I've done manual calculations and for a king camp for example it takes 1 full A4 page of handwritten mathematics to figure out the amount of gil each member receives. I'm working on Excel templates for every type of system, so all a Leader/Sackholder needs to do is punch in the numbers/names and it will all be automated. Yayajax said: 2) Does every event count as individual and chop a deal when it ends? Some events like farming and Boss-killing may not be on the same day. Events such as HNMs are individually based, so if you camp/claim Fafhogg one day the "Window Points" you acquired only counts for that specific day, and all calculations of gil acquired is for that specific camp only. Events such as Sky/Sea/Limbus/SCNM etc. These are calculated together with both camping NMs/pop items, and fighting the NM. So if a member can only take part in farming they will still receive a portion of the gil earned on the Boss fight even if they cant attend the battle itself. Each member is rewarded for the contribution they put in during a specific cycle. For example: *editted to make it more understandable + full workout* Jailer of Justice = 65% Farming Pops, 35% Fighting Justice. Justice Torque auctioned for 5,000,000G, 16 people fought Jailer of Justice. Member A(1 member) = Solo Ix'DRK Member B-G(6 members) = Temperance Pop Item Member B-K(10 members) = Killed Justice 5,000,000G / 65% = 3,250,000G 5,000,000G / 35% = 1,750,000G Farming (2 pops) 3,250,000 / 2 = 1,625,000G Ix'MNK = 1,625,000 / 1 = 1,625,000G each Temperance = 1,625,000 / 6 = 270,833G each (rounded down) Boss 1,750,000 / 16 = 109,375G each Overall Gil Distribution Member A = 1,625,000G Member B-G = 270,833 + 109,375 = 380,208G Member H-K = 109,375G each - - - - - - - - 1625000 x 1 = 1,625,000G 380208 x 6 = 2,281,248G 109375 x 10 = 1,093,750G 1625000 + 2281248 + 1093750 = 4,999,998G (rounded down) Yayajax said: 3) What happen if sudden event begins, for example, wyrms claimed and killed, while all leaderships are away from game, how can the contribution and distribution be calculated? This is what will be the most challenging thing for me. To find people who I can trust to handle items and gil distribution in my absence, and that same person having the ability to calculate and distribute the gil properly. Sackholders will be very very strictly chosen, and I'm hoping that their average playtimes can span across all times of the day. But for a situation like u mention, Members could nominate who will take responsibility for holding items/recording all information, I'm sure players will have a good idea who are the die hard dedicated members that you can trust, of course Wyrms don't drop rare/ex gear so they can be passed onto a Sackholder later. But things like Kings with Rare/Ex gear; If the linkshell becomes as successful as I can imagine, then stealing something like Gaiters or gil from Ebody/Abody/Dring wouldn't be a feasibly smart choice, as you could make more gil if you had hung around in the linkshell, rather than stealing an item and getting kicked. Steal 15M get kicked, or stay in linkshell that can earn a significant amount of gil on a regular basis which can surpass that stolen value quickly. There's more money in it for members to stick around. So, yes it can happen, items are stolen in linkshells all the time, but with the way this system is setup, I would think it wouldn't be the smartest move a person could make. Yayajax said: About the linkshell, what is the minimum number of members to begin the very first event, and what is the best size for the linkshell? We are looking forward the linkshell to be successful, but I am sure there people who want "risk-free server transfer" and don't take action until linkshell in good shape. Depending on what event, Limbus chips can be farmed with 2-6 people, simultaneous groups, u can get an omega run every week. you only need about 10-12 people for omega. Dynamis 14-20 people is more than enough to win any zone, some are easier than others. Einherjar, Pandemonium Warden, and Absolute Virtue (once a strategy is found) are the only events that really require numbers. So if I can consistently win Tier 3 Einherjar's, then I know I have enough people in the linkshell. Generally speaking I don't want more than 30 people. But If I can do everything with less, than I wont want to recruit any more, until positions open up again. Update 6/8/09
Only a few spots left for Foundation Members, I am truly grateful for the support shown by players transferring servers to support the ANZACs cause. Please note, the linkshell is now beginning to fill up its foundation member positions, please post your applications as soon as possible, as now they positions are limited, and the minimum requirements will rise very soon. hi im arcticblade have post to forum and want to move asap
