Demon's Souls Servers Shutting Down May 31

It's been a good run. What a great game.

Aww :-( I didn't play it, but it's always a bit sad to see a game end.

Online play doesn't offer much except invade other player's games and kill them. Really is a single player game with hours of cursing and trying to get back to your corpse only dying again next to it and losing over 9000 souls.

Ball-breakingly hard game, unless you play a caster. Magic is really overpowered

Eh, Dark Souls is out anyways.

Sorry I was thinking Dark Souls. But I was talking to a Gamestop employee and he broke his controller because he killed a boss and some player invaded his world and killed him.

Pure melee is where it's at. Balls to the wall.

I have to admit I really want to try dark souls >.> everyone says how hard a game it is and how many people quit playing it and it just makes me want to go out and buy it to see what its about :x

Do it. It's a really really really fun game. Punishing, but fun.

Unless you rage really easily. If you do, like my brothers, you'll spend a large portion of your time angry until you figure out how to deal with things.

Speaking of anger... Bed of Chaos and Tomb of the Giants are the most annoying parts of this game. Well, besides maybe Upper Blight Town. I went through those two today and lost ~80k souls in total. Nearly an entire level up. :<

Demon's Souls always rewarded good gameplay and strategy, and severely punished sloppiness. Dark Souls, on the first playthrough, sometimes felt like the unfair platformer to me with something random like a big *** cat rolling over top of you before you ever saw what hit you.. IF you survive that you'll see two more right after xD

Both are really great games, it just kinda felt like Dark Souls is a little meaner just to live up to the rep of Demon's Souls, the latter being my favorite game probably of all time.

A month and a half is a reasonable amount of time to complete at least new game +, I may have to roll a new guy and rally it again while it's still online. To think of no more bloodstains, no more phantoms or messages on the ground in Demon's Souls is just eerie. No more pvp Old Monk boss fights either, those were always really fun :D

Do it if you like being challenged. If you are not prepared to be punished for making even small mistakes, it is not the game for you. It is intensely satisfying when you get good at it though.

Just don't refer to guides or learn much about the game. A lot of the fun is the discovery aspect.

As for Demon's vs Dark... I thoroughly enjoyed both, except I'm not a fan of some of the endgame areas in Dark. Lost Izilith wasn't fun at all in my opinion (Bed of Chaos being the only instance in Demon/Dark Souls where I've stopped playing because I died simply because it's so frustrating). ToTG is a bit meh and Crystal Caves is a cool idea but annoying in practice.

I tend to repeat little details until I get them down, would that be similar to what this is?

I'm actually working on a speed run of Dark Souls for my friends birthday. Hoping to do it in under an hour.

I really love both games with Dark Souls being my favorite.

Also Dark Souls isn't that hard. If you are having a tough time, make a pyromancer or sorcerer. Magic is super strong. Also make sure you get the Drake Sword at the beginning. Helps a ton.

Demon's Souls is just too easy with it's infinite HP and infinite MP restores.

But the coolest thing about Demon's Souls was being able to become a boss in one of the worlds. Bye bye Demon's Souls. It was fun.

Might be still able to rent it from Redbox. That's what I did. One of the first games I rented from Redbox.

Sort of, yeah. Video posted above shows what happens if you don't learn from your mistakes and aren't patient. If you're good at taking responsibility for the mistakes you made (rarely if ever is the game actually cheap) and correcting them, you'll have a great time.

Hmmmm 36-39 dollars, I'll pick it up and try it out

btw I did a search but demon souls isn't available for xbox? why didn't I buy a PS3 DX....

Funny, I bought my PS3 on release and my 360 on release. Guess which one I've had to RMA 7 times so far?

Funny... I've never had to...hmm.... though I did eventually get a newer xbox for the sake of getting a better machine later down the road aka the Elite... and now I got kinect which is also much better than PS3's wanna be Wii stick.

in fact last i heard it's near dead on xbox due to thing likes hacking (which PS3 dosn't have a problem with)

anyhow, i knew this was coming, it's amazing they let it stay up as long as they did. had some fun times with demons's souls, it will missed.
