PS3 Controller and Windows Vista
Its been awhile since I did this and I forgot how to do it. I remember I need something called Sixaxis Driver or something like that to link my controller to windower, any suggestions?
hell , I found this thing at walmart for 10 dollars, that lets me put 2usb 1ps2 1 gamecube and 1xbox1 controller In 1 usb port, been using it for years. >_>
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I use MotionInJoy for my PS3 controller.
I'm on Win7 though, not Vista. :O I have to try that out, couln't make my controller work on my w7 pc.
If i can play skyrim with my controller using that i'll be in love with you two :D On motionjoy, which one would I have to download for vista?
Is there a way to find out which bit I'm using? Sorry I'm terrible when it comes to computers.
If you Right-click "My Computer" (or "Computer", I forget what it's called on Vista) and go to Properties, you should get a screen that looks something like this:
![]() It should say what sort of system you're using~ All right, I found which one I had to download and I downloaded it, but what do I do now? I ran the application and something popped up and I don't know what to do from there, sorry i'm such a lost cause on these things lol.
I've been using the same PS2 to USB convertor for years. Hate to chance from a good thing but this MotionInJoy sounds intriguing.
Also love Arcalimo's avatar. It's nothing special, it simply installs a driver that allows full PS3 controller functionality.
Trixan, if you go to your Taskbar (next to your clock), you should find an icon that resembles the back of a controller. Open it up and click "Driver Manager", you should have the option to "Install all drivers", just click that and then select the Home and make sure it's got the right pad showing in the drop down box at the top and you should be good to go. The clock like at the top or bottom right corner? I'm completely new to vista and.... I don't see a controller anywhere
At the bottom, it's at the right hand side of your Start bar (there might be some arrows next to the time there, you'll need to click those).
This is what the icon for it looks like, if you can't find it, you probably need to run it (Start > Programs > Motioninjoy > DS3 Tool). ![]() When you've got it running/open, you'll need to click "Driver Manager" and hit the "Install All" button then wait for a while, it'll tell you when it's safe to do something (it took about 10min for me to do it). ![]() After it says everything's been installed, you should be able to connect your controller (if it isn't already) and click "Home" to see how it's acting. It'll tell you the controller it thinks is connected (mine is Dualshock 3/Sixaxis, connected via USB) and it's behaving like a PS1 controller (that's all I needed, so I didn't bother changing anything). ![]() Motionjoy is a great way to use ps3 controllers but I had a major problem that had me resulting in reformatting my pc. I had a logitech mouse and keyboard and instead of it installing drivers for them, it installed motionjoy drivers and i was unable to use the software, long story short, dont use it if you have logitech devices
Your saying I have to wait for awhile after I click install all?
One thing that's a problem:
If you unplug your controller, you will need to exit out of the current instance of the program and reload it in order to get the analog sticks to work properly. Current instance of the program, what do you mean?

Oh, okay and one more question, when I'm on motionjoy and I clicked install all, how long am I suppose to wait exactly? Is it going to tel me when I'm done? I've been waiting for like 15 minutes and its been on the same one for awhile so just curious..
I am not to sure how that works, I use an Xbox 360 controller and I setup my controls on the FFXI config menu and jumped right in to playing the longest I had to wait was 2 minutes for the controller driver to install and I was good to go.
I mean, I was able to set what each button would do at the ffxi config menu, but when I open up windower on vista, controller doesn't seem to be working. What controller driver did you install?

I have logitech KB/mouse and had no issue with MiJ. If you get a bluetooth dongle that works with this(there's a list on their forums) you can run the controller both wirelessly and plugged in. That does happen if your batteries die, or your controller shuts off(i turned off the auto off feature) Edit: Well, it works on ffxiv... just tried testing controller on bluetooth in ffxi config and nothing happens. Maybe it doesn't work wireless on xi? Edit2: Nevermind, disabled the xbox wireless reciever and was able to configure ps3 controller on bluetooth. problem with motionjoy is it isn't compatible with most windows programs...
When I was on windows 7, I think I used SixAxis Driver, but I don't remember which one it was or if it different from vista version.

You need bluetooth for motionjoy to work right pro? When I was following the tutorial yesterday, I was completely lost when it came to that part, and I couldn't get my controller to vibrate.
Surprised no one picked up o this sooner, but you dont need to reboot all you have to do is right click on the Motionjoy tray icon and exit the software and reopen it.
