My thought on this is surely that if you can say it in real life with no reprucussions, surely saying it on the internet should be exactly the same.

I'm not well versed on American law so I don't know how far freedom of speech carries and how you treat racial, offensive etc comments in a criminal perspective.

The only part that makes sense, "...or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person," is already illegal. Not a very good job, there, Arizona.

we dont prosecute for this stuff unless it directly or indirectly causes harm :< "Fighting Words" is the way to put it i think in a loose legal sense.

Well real question is, can they enforce extradition, not only that for the rest of the world and the other 49 states will they agree or deny jurisdiction is with in AZ law outside their state.

Pretty much everything apart from direct threats are allowed speech.

I think we need to just put a blanket freeze on legislation regarding the internet until the entire legislative body is made up of people born in the mid to late 80s. The older generations always seem to not have the understanding required to make responsible decisions regarding the internet.

I'm all for preventing harrassment and bullying but even I can say this is just dumb. There does come a time where you just need to turn your mental chat filters on and ignore it. If people are going to be able to run to the government because some random person commented that their baby was ugly then idk how we can expect our children to grow up with a spine :/

How exactly would they know if someone meant to 'troll' or was just being themselves? "Sorry, you being yourself annoyed that kid over there so we're taking away all your privileges?" How would they know what the 'intent' was?

The thing about trolling on the internet is that it's completely avoidable. If someone is bothering you, you can usually avoid sites they go to, block them, or even just ignore them. The more you simply ignore a person, the less ability they have to tick you off. Or if there's a place where you know you would not fit in well, then don't go there. I don't visit 4chan, even though I know there's some really cool stuff there. Why? Because I don't think I'm tough enough to handle the not-cool parts of 4chan. It's not difficult to evaluate a place, decide whether or not you could handle it, and make a decision to go there or stay away from there.

If people don't even have the common sense to stay away from places harmful to them personally or to ignore people who they think are just trying to get a rise out of them, then I really don't think government involvement is going to help. You just can't fix a lack of common sense.

It's not just taking away privileges either:

On another note, this anti bullying crap needs to go away. Now i don't support the act of bullying, but they try to make it sound like its a kid/teen only problem. As if once you hit 18 their is no bullying anymore. 0.o

Its the same in the adult world. Bullying's their. Be it neighbors, government, cooperations/businesses, bosses. Trying to 'removing bullying' from children's lives is only going to make them more vulnerable when they become an adult. (which is probably why cooperations and certain government ppl are getting behind it.)

No bullying at all would be nice, but only targeting half the ppl sure as hell wont work. Its just that 'save the children' rally cry always works better then the 'everyone needs help' one.

It's funny that 20 years ago if you had an ugly baby every just thought it, but nobody would say it to your face. The internet just makes it easier to say what they think without fear of repercussion. Yes, people say *** up ***and I think when it comes to kids bullying each other, laws should be more strict. But honestly people put every detail of their life on the internet and expect people to care as much as they do. I don't get it.

I guess you can find jerks everywhere. It is up to you if you wish to deal with them or not. For the most part I have met some really nice folks online. But there have been a few I would love to smack some commom courtsey into though.
