Random Question thread (FFXI related)
Ballad2 from Ulmia is 2mp/tick IIRC. Need two ballads to get 3mp/tick.

I got 2026 attack with an XI vs. 1544 without, which is still 320/1024. My Qultada gave me 2080 attack with a IV Chaos, which is the expected +25% with a 100/1024 job bonus due to the hat. I then zoned, tried again, and he gave me a 1930 IV Chaos, which is the +25% without the hat. In summary, Qultada is a +0 Rolls COR wearing the relic hat. Lakshmi.Byrth said: » In summary, Qultada is a +0 Rolls COR wearing the relic hat. He does wear the hat indeed Lythturia said: » Why doesn't trading any given orb to the burning circle just consume it? Gameplay wise it's just a banana peel I gotta throw out. I don't have to discard empty potion bottles or pull the icarus wing feathers out of my teeth after I eat it, but these orbs just sit in your inventory broken. Were they planning to do something with 'restocking' orbs with monsters that never came about? For AMAN Trove, you can turn the orbs back into the NPC for a potential recharge. For everything else, I have no idea. Maybe they planned to do something similar at one time. You can trade consumed orbs back to Shami and he will just take them. People had all sorts of theories of hidden mechanics with this that were probably false. Rumors about Shami's orbs and returning them to him were that it added a small amount of fame.
Its possible there was a plan to do something with them.
But at the same time, I wouldnt be surprised if back then they couldnt figure out how automatically to remove used orbs from peoples inventory on BCNM entry. So, isn't the Wild Card range a 9,9 radius around the player using it?
For Omen farming Swarts: BLU Cleave or THF Soloing mobs?
If I go THF and just solo mobs, plop TH8 on and run through them one at a time it's long but I usually end up around 9-11 Swarts. (Gear on THF isn't up to par for safe/easy Aeolian spam) I've been going on BLU and it goes really fast, like almost twice as fast, I put TH4 on everything via Sound Blast and rarely do I get more than 5-6 Swarts. Is there some way it works or is TH8>TH4 that much? With TH4 applied via Dispelga and killing monsters with Shockwave on RUN going the non-boss path, I would regularly get 9-11 Swart.
I think there may be something wrong with your TH application on BLU. Are you pulling and killing >10 at once? Are you sure to tag transcendents, too? I checked to make sure Sound Blast was using my TH4 gear, which it was. The area of effect on it is fairly large as well, I could see 1-2 not being hit by it on a big pull. And it's a decently length cast time and I can see the TH gear is well before the cast goes off. AoE is centred around the caster and I'm generally speaking in the middle of all the mobs. I've only got 2 runs doing it cleaving on BLU though so maybe it was just poor runs. I used to farm swarts on multiple thieves, all with max TH and recorded the drop rates for each run and over a decent amount my average was 11.5/run.
Either TH doesn't matter (feels like it does, Have never hit the peaks I've gotten on thief on Th4 jobs) or 11~/run isn't an actual average for TH4 While I've had some good runs with just TH4, I've had plenty of 5-6 astral runs as well. Gotta record your drops if you want to get a good idea of what your average actually is, could just be bad luck. 11 sounds high for TH4. Around 5 would be my guess. Highs of 8-11, lows of 3-4. Average around 5.
Asura.Bronzequadav said: » Either TH doesn't matter Absolutely does, and the jump from TH4 to TH8+ is noticeable IMO. I generally average around 9-12 on THF. On BLU, I might get 10+ every once in a while, but it's usually 6-8. Never worth me doing it based on the speed. Shukudai said: » For Omen farming Swarts: BLU Cleave or THF Soloing mobs? How long is BLU taking you vs THF? You say it's twice as fast, but I clear somewhere around 12-13min runs on THF using Su4 dagger (includes summoning/dismissing and re-summoning trusts), as a solo character. I can't even do it on BLU in 6-7 minutes, just based on travel speed alone, so I'm curious how you're clearing in on THF for it to take twice as long? Even without dynamis dagger, using Aeolian Edge spam is faster clear method, and it's not significantly slower than BLU. BLU just happens to be far easier as you can pull like 4-5 groups on Non-Boss path, sleep them, and kill at once without any risk. The first two floors should be pretty much the same clear speed whether you are BLU or THF, with the advantage going to BLU since they can Entomb > Floe dead. Dodik said: » 11 sounds high for TH4. Pretty confident the average on THF is higher, but I doubt THF can complete runs in ~7mins like I can on BLU. I mean a completely solo THF of course, if you've got support it's another story entirely. Shukudai said: » For Omen farming Swarts: BLU Cleave or THF Soloing mobs? I usually 2box with a BRD (Doesn't have THF geared on BRD and DPS gear is still in the works on it). On BLU, I just buff up, pull the entire first / second zones, Lullaby, Sound Blast > Cleave. On the last area I pull usually 1.5 to 2 packs then sleep them and cleave. I'll finish with maybe 20ish min left if I do it properly. On THF I just engage 1 at a time. My Aeolian damage isn't high enough to get really good results with cleaving. Takes the full time, usually minus 5-10 minutes if I'm not being lazy. Assuming BiS gear for BLM at level 60. Will Tropical Crepe give me the full 90 M.Acc? If not what is the best food that will give me the most?

Could probably just cheap out here and eat rolan. daifuku I was just curious if it was worth getting for the 90 M.acc. I have no idea how much I have to know what 20% is lol. Rolanberry Daifuku it is. (Been soloing Up in Arms on BLM).
Truth is you probably don't need any food at all because it's not that difficult. If you wanted to use food, I'm not sure macc is the best stat to go for. Are you resisting a lot? I've done it with absolutely no level 60 gear at all (and probably no food).
I would go for Cehuetzi snow cone, if I were throwing away gil on food for Up in Arms though. Hard to overemphasize how easy the PUP Up in Arms solo is.
I soloed it more than a dozen times on BLM and RDM, maybe a few times on BST, and then more than 1300 times on PUP. Bahamut.Bojack said: » I was just curious if it was worth getting for the 90 M.acc. We didn't have much for m.acc back in the day so all of the newer foods are overkill. Curio moogle for the frugal and snow cones if you want to make number go up. For a long time I Mage Kite killed it on RDM, SCH, or BLM. Take about 7 minutes(includes buffing time and resting for MP). Then I decided to start killing it on RDM/blu with melee, which takes about 5.5~6 minutes including buff times. When I'm feeling frisky I'll 2hr kill it on WAR/pld or MNK/war. Either takes about 2 minutes because I like to be safe and use Pro/shell/stoneskin scrolls. Asura.Vyre said: » I always think I'm doing something wrong when I do it on PUP. Overdrive kills are like a minute and some change, but non-Overdrive ones sometimes take as long as 5 minutes, which isn't really an improvement for me over other jobs (like my puppet doesn't even seem to hold hate without Overdrive, what am I doin wrong?). The PUP run is probably the most common because it's AFK-freindly with auto maneuvers/repairs. If you're actually playing and wanna speed it along, you can go /rdm and use dia. Bean daifuku works well for this run also. Yeah, the benefit of PUP isn't that it is the fastest option (more like 4 minutes average for me without overdrive), but that it takes zero actual effort. I use Grape Daifuku, Deploy, and keep up 3 maneuvers. It's easiest to spend about three workweeks doing fights if you can multitask during them.

What Idle-Pet set and frame/attachments do I need for Up in Arms? Is you do a Coalition assignment spending 3 tags but you only needed 1 more to rank up is the excess wasted or does the extra 2 roll into the next rank?

What Idle-Pet set and frame/attachments do I need for Up in Arms? Two versions of the strategy here. You probably don't need exactly those attachments because the fight is so easy with them. Acc is the big thing Bahamut.Bojack said: » Is you do a Coalition assignment spending 3 tags but you only needed 1 more to rank up is the excess wasted or does the extra 2 roll into the next rank? |
