Hiya thought id see if anyone has experience with gaming headsets as im about to buy one, ive been searching the web for them and really cant figure out which to choose it seems they are all special in there own way:P

ideally i want one that isnt wireless so i dont have to keep buying batteries over and over this seems to be my stumbling block though as 90% of the headsets i seem to find are wireless and honestly awesome looking / sounding and the others seem to be just cheap and a bit below what im looking for below are a few examples of what ive seen so far.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turtle-Beach-Wireless-Headset-Ear-Force-X41-Xbox-360-BRAND-NEW-and-SEALED-/290644537937?pt=UK_Video_Games_Headsets&hash=item43abc3b251

http://www.game.co.uk/en/tritton-axpro-dolby-5-1-console-gaming-headset-122815?pageSize=20&categoryIdentifier=10456&attributeName1=Price%20Range_EN_GB&attributeValue1=37

http://www.game.co.uk/en/microsoft-licensed-tritton-devastator-headset-for-xbox-360-154899?pageSize=20&categoryIdentifier=10456&attributeName1=Price%20Range_EN_GB&attributeValue1=37

while these all look pretty nice the wireless nature of them seems to be a little off putting to me:(

any advice on this subject is welcome especially if its where to find some great headsets within the Uk

thanks in advance^^

Turtle beach it, yo! First off, it's one of the best performing headsets out there. Secondly... that name makes me chuckle. Imagine it... a beach covered in turtles. It'd look something like this:

I have the x41's, use them on my ps3. they sound great playing bf3, movies and such. if you don't want to always buy batteries get some rechargeables. good aaa's last about a week, energizer titanium last about week and a half. only down side is the chat has to have a 360 controller to work.

edit: I've tryed a friends titans, sounded better than my x41's but they weighed a ton and didn't feel like they fit as well

I bought a turtle beach headset from best buy it was that px21 or something for my ps3. I was so put off with it that I vowed never to buy anything from turtle beach. For whatever the reason the ear pads on that thing stained every piece of cloth it touched. It left little black rings on blankets shirts hats and nearly anything on which you set it down. That in addition to one of the speakers going out within a few months just turned me off from the brand.

To be fair many of the headphones I've had over the years seem to eventually develop the problem with one of the speakers and I think it's due to the wiring and suggest wireless headsets as a result. The wires on the 21 were just horrible everything from the amp down was good quality wire, very flexible and durable, but from the amp to the headset it used some cheap stuff that becomes horribly stiff with time and is what I believe causes the disconnect with the speakers.

i must admit the titans do look really awesome so thats a gamechanger for me (style ftw :p) but on the oyther side i do have a 360 its a new one also just bought it after my old one broke so no problems there with the need for a 360 pad.

2 sets a year!? and you do this with the expensive headsets also?

hmm im becoming a little wary of longevity of the headset now also 200 on a headset isnt too much if it lasts a few years for me but 80 is too much if it lasts 6 months in my oppinion.

i have a pair of turtle beach ear force x12s, and i love them a lot, they have amazing sound, a nice mic, and theyre really comfortable. they have controls for game, chat, and bass boost.

the only downside i have about them is that for what i use them for, the wire is extremely too long. but thats because i use them with a laptop. for xbox and desktop gaming that extra wiring can be really useful depending on your setup.

some people say that the mic is a little too sensitive for their tastes, too, but ymmv.

Yeah, I don't have the money to drop on a Turtle Beach headset, so I always just get the cheap, generic brands my local electronics store offers.

Would definitely not buy the Devestator, they look like the same shape as the AX180 and I went through 3 of those in less than a year when finally Tritton stopped replacing them. The way they're designed makes them very easily breakable just through normal use.. I have the AX720s right now and the cord connecting the controller to the headset doesn't work(which they replaced for free) and the left side doesn't play any sound(currently replacing right now). I would definitely not trust any Tritton products to last more than 1-1.5 years, that's how long I had my 720s before the problems started.

yes i read what he said notice the question about if he had similar lifespan with expensive headsets also and him saying he usually buys cheap indicating he doesent allways and has experience of both hence my questions, no confusion here.

i did like the look of those coupled with the fact they have rechargeable batterys included made me definatly consider them,
really wonder what would you advise though if you were in my situation,

want quality headset for 360 useage needs to have voicechat and ideally really nice audio and possible lifespan as high as possible

I have the X41s and I love them. I mostly played gears of war. I could always hear when someone was trying to sneak up on my and i loved knowing that I could have my back turned and them still thinking they can get a shot on my before i turn around and kill them. Loved them so much I bough the xp500. So now my x41s are dedicated to my computer and my xp500 I used for my xbox.

I used mine for 360 as well, at this point I'd just recommend Turtle Beaches.. Only problem I ever had with them was that it sometimes had that small buzzing in the background when you talked. This link could help you out though. Tons of headset reviews there for 360/PS3/PC use.

so confusing lol

for me so far im at this

Tritton Ax pro 5.1 :
look great
very comfortable
great sound
extreme customisation
no crackle on mic or earphones
feel like im commander shepard while wearing them (maybye lol they do look like they have an N7 logo on them somewhere :p)

Turtle beach :
popular
great sound
bit ugly
comfortable
nice amp model and ability to hang headset on amp

on the + side ive narrowed down my options a little now i just have 2 choices

i hear these are decent but don't have any personal experience

i use sennheiser (pc161) but they're expensive and break easily

i have turtle beach headsets (px21 and x11) and they're used as last resorts, they're comfortable but i can't stand the annoying constant hissing sound D:

Astros bxr's i think or the cheaper A-40s
Astros

I use these very comfortable they seem bulky at first glance but sound is amazing and if you game on lan they sound nuts. You can hear the liquid from someone drinking going down the throat extremely lulzy to me. 200 bucks seems like a lot but they tend to replace them fairly quickly if something goes wrong and for free.

Suggest buying an extra xbox live controller cord thats about the only thing that ever goes wrong and thats from being stepped on or something. Used them for over 2 years also you can get custom ear tags for yourself price is kind of high but well worth it. Comes with hook ups for pc so if you have mic and headphone set you can just plug it in to the pc/laptop.

Edit: I use these for hours of gaming sessions on xbox and they are never uncomfortable the ear pieces aren't like the turtle beachs where your ears get sweaty they are well ventilated. If you can get them the customer service alone makes it awesome also if you have friends that do MLG and something is wrong just send them with them to get replaced for free at events lol.

http://www.turtlebeach.com/support/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=830517075

regarding the hissing sound, it's there for both the px21 and x11 when idle and it bugs the ***out of me but once i start playing music/games, it disappears and the sound quality of both headsets aren't bad at all.

i'm not sure about the x41 but the x11 is just a wired version of the x41 so i'd assume it's still the case.

the astro headsets are way overpriced, but that isn't to say that they sound like ***. they just don't sound like products in their price range.

i'd probably buy the astro mixamp pro if anything and use that with a pc headset to allow connectivity between pc/xbox/ps3 or you can get the mixamp 5.8 and have WIRELESS connectivity between pc/xbox/ps3 since you are in EU.

yea honestly think that astro stuff looks great but really its too expensive id feel rude asking for it as a gift even of my parents.

i think as i said earlier im gonna try and get some x41's for around 100£

unless there is a better option in that price range then ill probably just get those

or a
TURTLE BEACH EAR FORCE X41
for pretty much the same price bearing in mind ive never actually had a gaming headset before is why im asking so many questions about them.

a wireless headset that can be charged while being used is very convenient, otherwise i prefer wired.
