Relics and Mythics are definitely getting a nice boost here, and a lv 99 mythic or relic (mythics being ahead ofc) will be the top dogs once again relatively undisputed. Empyreans, I must say, really don't look to be worth the hassle of upgrading if the stats listed there are the absolute result of the 95 and 99 trials... even with that afterglow, given the probable difficulty in upgrading them and the fact that it's likely a sphere and thus doesn't work on yourself.
saddness for Brd ; ;and SE fix ur typo demmit also ... massacre elegy wru ; ; ?
This. I don't have a Gjallarhorn, but I was still hoping it would get something awesome. :( In the meantime, I'll continue collecting a bajillion plates in hopes of eventually getting 4 songs on my harp...
Since SE has decimated the need for a larger shell with all this lowman push, it's going to be interesting where we go from here. Releasing this, should be the norm: tons of people get drawn in at living the dream, get sucked in, and maybe shouting for a PuG in port jeuno we'll see people get this done? I see 99 relics stage 1 being the stopping point just like most stop at 90 empyrean.
"Afterglow" When I saw that all I could think of was:
I do wonder if SE actually will implement Massacre Elegy for Brd; they highly alluded to it a while ago.
Considering Gjallarhorn/Daurdabla don't get Afterglows... I wonder what the point of completing a Stage 2 trial (if they even get them?) would be. I fear though Gjallarhorn's Stage 2 upgrade will possibly give it Massacre Elegy. >.<
They did mention something at the end of the post about equipment specific mage spells, which could possibly include Massacre Elegy, but Idk. x.x
If anything, Massacre Elegy will probably end up being a part of Brd's second 2hr or w/e. X.X
Afterglow doesn't stack with other Aftermath effects, right? If so, then wow... lol
The afterglow effects are pointless, their effort:reward ratio is around 10000000000000000000000000000:.0001, to put it into perspective, Mythic afterglow is +15 attack.

I think it's best we stop complaining about the afterglow versions before they gimp the normal 99s and put some of those stats on the afterglow trials. :(
Amano and Masamune Lv.99 will have the same base DMG? Meanwhile the Kogarasumaru gets slapped with DMG:128? I wonder if that's another typo. Great Katanas

I'm curious why Taint thinks Masamune Lv.99 would out perform Amano Lv.99 as well.
I altered the DPS calculator for the 99 verions. Put ODD at 30% for each. Amano is 2.5 damage at 15% for 95 but it should put them close.
Same base damage, Masamune has +20str(15att), Amano has 40acc. Kaiten with 40% damage boost beats Fudo with capped Attack but Fudo caps attack earlier. (obviously) fSTR and WSC favor Masamune as well.
Against high Def mobs Shoha is beating both Fudo and Kaiten and Masamune has a clear Shoha damage advantage.
Its a great move for Amano IMO and 99 Amano will be better then 90 Masamune where most people will be stuck, its also better then 95 Masamune.
Is there a Google Docs friendly version of the Damage Calc? Or is there a new version I've not been using? Won't actually do any of the calculations for me.
Amano may be easier to obtain as well, if only the stage 2 are ridiculous to do,
Amano would be a straight trip to the 99 and lol @ acc sphere afterglow, so wouldn't have to worry about it anymore after that and could avoid the metal plate stage of the 95 emp

Have to keep in mind that it becomes 30% odd vs 0% in this scenario
Not going to argue into the unknown but there is little reason not to keep AM up on SAM, TP is very easy to come by and Masamune can reach 50% ODD as well.
ACC shouldn't be a huge concern on SAM, easy to work with gear sets, it can use WAR sub, has 60%+ Zanshin and doesn't lose a lot from Shoha if you had to swap foods for ACC.
Although it is ofcourse a situational factor the STR/att from Masamune is always a factor.
Amano should be much easier to get to 99, I'm strongly considering selling all my plates for one.
Worth losing out on 3 shoha in a low pdif situation though? ***'s situational obviously, but I don't really see masamune having any advantage besides starting a fight with 300 TP. How would TP bonus compare to all this? Since you are comparing situations that shoha will beat out kaiten.
[dev1065] Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean Weapon Upgrades
With the forthcoming version update, players will be able to upgrade equipment to level 99 in two stages:
Stage 1
Possible upgrades will include damage, delay, and weapon skill damage along with other attributes.
The planned difficulty level for the corresponding Magian upgrade trials will be such that a majority of players with the appropriate level 95 equipment will likely be able to complete them.
*This content is not yet available on the test server.
Step 2
Possible upgrades will include special animations along with "Afterglow" effects that grant status benefits to party members.
The corresponding Magian trials will be exceedingly difficult to complete, such that only a select number of PCs will be able to upgrade weapons to this stage.
*Gjallarhorn and Daurdabla may not be imbued with Afterglow effects.
Upgraded Attributes
Please refer to the following charts for descriptions of upgraded weapon attributes:
To test this content, please talk to the Magian Moogle and input the corresponding trial number, as listed in the charts above.
Afterglow
Upgrading a weapon to stage two will result in the addition of an Afterglow effect.
Afterglow bestows beneficial status effects upon party members in an area surrounding (but excluding) the wielder.
*Party members must be inside the specified area when Afterglow is activated to receive status effects.
The duration for each Afterglow is thirty seconds.
*The effect of a certain Afterglow will be overwritten if an identical one is activated within that thirty-second timeframe.
Separate Afterglow effects will stack if they are cast within the same effect duration.
There are five categories of Afterglow effects:
Relic Weapons: Increased accuracy and ranged accuracy
Mythic weapons: Increased attack and ranged attack
Empyrean weapons: Increased critical hit rate
Aegis: Reduced magic damage taken
Ochain: Reduced physical damage taken
Afterglow effects activate when the weapon skill corresponding to the equipped weapon
For Aegis and Ochain, the effects activate when Shield Bash is used.
The hierarchy for overwriting Aftermath and Afterglow effects is as follows:
One's Own Aftermath: Lv3>Lv2>Lv1>Party Member's Afterglow
Visual Effects
Weapons upgraded to stage two will display special visual effects when equipped:
Relic Weapons
Mythic Weapons
Empyrean Weapons
Visual effects will display in the following priority:
Main Weapon>Ranged Weapon>Sub Weapon
Other Information of Note
Additional planned features, such as equipment-specific magic spells and pets, have been postponed to allow for more thorough testing concerning attributes, the number of potential users and the process by which to obtain them. One consideration is whether to implement such features as another stage of the above upgrades, or to apply them to a different set of equipment. Also under deliberation is whether to limit the availability of such equipment or make it relatively simple to obtain.
