so, I finally went thru and sorted all my elemental magic so all the magic of the same element were next to each other (just for elemental magic) and I think I changed jobs and changed back or something and the game decided that it didnt like my sorting method and resorted them all back to default.
so my question is, is SE giving me the big FU or did i do something wrong

Try using Ctrl+M and change a few spells around, change jobs and log off back on to see if it stays.

You might of had a bad glitch I'm not sure :(

on a side note, im trying to sort my white magic and i cant figure out a good way of putting all the spells in order
cures> curegas> regens> erase, esuna, -na> buffs> debuffs>otherpointlessshitinevershouldhavelearned>single target protect/shells
nothing i do looks like to me and it pisses me off

If you use your magic list a lot, you need to find a system that works for you.

I'll gladly tell you mine though:

Top of the list, and bottom of the list is highest priority spells. Middle stuff takes a long time to find so that is lowest.

Cures
Buffs
Status Cures
Enhancing Magic (haste, slow, w/e)
Teleports
Raise
so on

I don't keep my list very organized, but if I did I would be using the top and bottom most often so try to organize it so.

I would personally keep raises on the bottom since you only need 1-2 and its a quick way to get them if you hold right.

I just normally type out my spells if I'm not using macros.

If you use windower with spellcast loaded (you don't need a spellcast xml to use, just the plugin loaded) you can cut down on the amount you need to type greatly.

Normally you would have to type out:

/ma "Cure V" Mrflawed

If I have you targeted then I could just type:

//c5

If I need to raise you and there is too much lag to see you I could type:

//r3 mr

By typing out mr, it searches for players that start with that and since your name is unique it wouldn't need very many letters to narrow you down to 1 possibility.

spellcast... sigh i have it but i dont understand how to use it? i mean //c5 would make things alot easier, but i dont understand the concept of a spellcast xml. is it like multiple files? or do you define the gearsets at the top and then spell out when to use each one from that point on.

Are there any XMLs i can look at to get an idea of what a complete XML should contain because i know nothing about the rules and such.

I should probably make a new thread for this lol

I said before, you don't need an XML to make spellcast features work.

If you have the plugin loaded target yourself and type:

//c5

It should cast it on you if you're on whm.

I'd highly recommend using spellcast, even if only for the shortcuts mentioned above. I found the best way to learn about xmls is to borrow someone elses and edit your own gear in. (You can find plenty on guildwork/windower.net) After a while of studying it you should be able to pick up the basics using the windower help page.

I wrote a guide kinda not too long ago, here, but it's not done. It should explain enough to get you started though for the people who want to get into spellcast but don't know where to start.

If you ever use the Auto-sort in -ANY- magic category, even one you didnt re-organize yourself, it still seems to affect them all. I noticed that happening when I tried to do this myself many times xD

「FF11 Magic Sort」 Ver1.32
http://ro119.com/archive/kochi.cool.ne.jp/soloplay/mgcsort.htm
there are guides on windower forums to use this offline tool
yes, you can put this in english
just need to import ressources.xml from windower in magic.csv so it can recognize new lvl 75+ spells
usefull to make a backup/restore of your sorting order

I was actually thinking if there was a working program for this. I knew there were a few in the past but assumed they all just ended up breaking over the years. Nice find
