Need a new PC build.
So I want a new PC, primarily for Skyrim, but also for just newer games as they come out. I currently have a mini case and it pisses me off. So I basically want to hear what a good PC build would be, preferably for <$300. I'm still going to use my same monitor/speakers/and hard drive, but aside that I want new everything. I want at least 2.00 ghz processor, 4 gb of ram, and 1 gb graphics. I would totally do this myself on newegg, but I can't tell if things would work together or not, still new to PC stuff like this. Please and thank you ^^
300? That'll be tricky..

If I'm going to take a hit on anything, I'm willing to drop ram to 2gb but I doubt that would be a huge money saver. 300 eh... This could be a candidate for an AMD APU system!
Memory APU Motherboard Memory 24.99 Amd A4-3300 69.99 ASRock A55M-HVS 58.99 =total= 153.97 (Plus tax/shipping if applicable) Whatever else.. leftover you can use to get a power supply, case, and a GPU. It's a cheap system, but by no means is it going to let you run the graphics maxed out. If that was the case cough up 999 for sandy bridge-e and quad SLI/crossfire GPU. Any preferance on CPU? GPU?

Oh trust me I never expected to run things maxed, I just want to be able to play at medium/slighter higher than medium graphics. Anything else you can recycle from your last PC? like perhaps the power unit. Of course depending how old the unit is it might not be able to accomodate a new GPU.
Gonna be tough for 300-400 simply because the prices of the items needed are typically the more crucial and expensive pieces.
But this is what I came up with. It's using the AMD A6 APU in tandem with a HD 6670 in dual graphics. This combo has amazing power for being in the low cost bracket that its is. Case with 460w psu GPU CPU/MOBO combo to save a few $$$$ 4GB Mushkin Ram It's only 240W... I didn't think that would be enough, heard 400 was pretty much the standard now-a-days. Oh I still could use the CD drive, that's cool, and I don't need anything for internet, I have a USB wi-fi thing going on.
Damn that looks really good. All that works together and everything too? mortontony1 said: » Damn that looks really good. All that works together and everything too? Si. This video shows the power of an APU when tested against something of a similar price. You'll notice it's capable of running a game in HD that the other can't. Also these components meet the system req for skyrim. ^^ Edit: The video shows an A8 where as I selected an A6. This means that the rig in the video will have a tad bit more power but not a ton. Oh this also assumes you're using your old keyboard/mouse xD
Couldn't squeeze that in the budget. Just built that to get as much raw power bang for your buck as I could. Wow that's incredible...
Edit: Yeah I am, monitor and speakers and everything. 2xEdit: Oh and what's up with his "case"? Is that something I could do? Although one thing I may suggest would to be doubling the ram. I'm reading that the APU pulls memory for the RAM for video and I can't verify if that is in dual graphics or if it's just using the APU with no card, and for $28 more having 8 gb of ram would be nice IMO.
Edit: That's a test bench to be able to change components quickly and easily for testing. I'd be cool dropping 30 bucks and doubling that.
I figured so even then that only makes the total in cart $416 before shipping etc. Not a bad deal seeing as you get a game coupon for a free copy of Dirt 3 too.
Edit: Heck just did a test run and shipping was only like $7 to GA. Agreed. I've also heard most everyone say to go with corsair for ram, is Mushkin reliable?
Very.
My 12GB of corsair faulted out after only two months but I haven't had a single issue with my Mushkin. Damn alright. You've convinced me sir, I need this computer.
Oh quick question. You do have the full out rights to your OS right?
Because if you're taking your HDD out of your PC if it's just an old pre-built from somewhere like HP it could be an OEM copy and would be bound to the MOBO. Or did you build your last PC and install on your own?(Just trying to prevent a future complication) Ramuh.Urial said: » Oh quick question. You do have the full out rights to your OS right? I did put my hard drive in another computer and it worked fine, so I would assume it isn't bound? Also I have no problem downloading windows in less than legal fashions. mortontony1 said: » Ramuh.Urial said: » Oh quick question. You do have the full out rights to your OS right? It's just something that a lot of PC builders(HP dell ETC) do. They use an OEM system builders licensed copy which cost 1/2 the price but is bound via mobo etc. That's dumb. Understandable, but dumb. Well thank you very much for all your help with this, I really appreciate it!

I'm kinda an enthusiast about building so it's something I try to keep up with in my spare time. Edit: I will say it coulda been done a bit cheaper but I did select components with a bit more credibility based of manufacturer. i think it's possible with 300$, just buy at newegg or tigerdirect, mainly on newegg because they usually got lots of coupons that you can search in google

Yeah I would prefer to spend a bit more and get more reliability/credibility. mortontony1 said: » Ramuh.Urial said: » mortontony1 said: » That's dumb. Understandable, but dumb.
