If those precious seconds are the justification for using cura, you're putting your entire party's safety in jeopardy by standing in range.

Cura is useless.

Eh, whm is one of the safest jobs to have in range of AOEs, physical or magical. As long as the mob doesn't have some annoying paralyze/silence aura/AOE or whatever, then staying out of range is mostly just for convenience.

Even with that, though, Cura is still mostly useless due to the enormous recast time (~10 seconds for curagas, 40 seconds for curas).

Your use of the word convenience is inappropriate. People that don't need to be in range of AoE stay out of it because it takes all unnecessary risk out of the picture. It doesn't matter who's better suited to deal with that risk. Cura imposes artificial danger for absolutely no reason.

Am i the only pld that was hoping to see cure V for pld? not for nothing but we've had the same tier healing since 75 lil love , would help with hate management and wow i could actually heal myself again.

Doesn't a full Cure V generate less enmity than a full Cure IV? lol.
It would help the PLD not take hate off of a real tank.

Or you could use curaga, the spell that doesn't require you put yourself in harm's way to do what you were already capable of doing. Hey, now it even comes in an enmity-light model, to circumvent another thing that wasn't an issue beforehand.
In situations like Einherjar you usually in range for esuna so cura comes in handy.

Cite a situation where you would use cura, and I'll tell you exactly why its a bad idea.

I stand in range on mobs like Melo Melo for esuna. Makes getting multiple status effects off much easier and quicker. In these cases, aoe heals come in handy.

It'd still be considerably weaker on enmity than Cure IV.

Maybe you missed the bolded part. Yes, really. Mobs with multiple status effects in one TP move (save silence/petra/para), Esuna is a time saver. I can remove everyone's status effects at once and keep everyone healed at once.

I was pretty happy to see BST get a Hippogryph.
BLU got a big handful of cool stuff.
Avenger's Roll looks downright amazing depending on potency.
Unfortunately the SMN blood pact descriptions were a little too vague to know how well they're going to perform, let alone how useful they'll be upon release.

As with anything, we'll just have to wait and see how good it all is, but it's quite exciting.

Paladins don't heal themselves to stay alive. That's what healers are for.

Guessing this stuff along with the relic upgrades will be hitting the test server tomorrow as Friday seems to be the day for Test Server updates.

Also, lol'd verily at the prospect of PLD making any use of Cure V

If you're spamming cures for enmity, why would you spam V when you could just spam III for the same or more enmity and not blow all your MP on Cure V spam. There's no reason PLD should have cure V.

PLD wouldn't even be capable of "spamming" Cure V. Much, much, much better uses of your time than wasting it all on casting shitty cures that your healer should already have covered. Even Cure IV is pretty balls for hate these days.

Make an Almace.

Obtain five random low level quest items, complete three stupid entirely luck driven mini-games with no actual method to success, fight Maat and Maatnisha (Maat's wife), climb to the top of Paraddamo Tor, do the hoky poky and turn yourself around, that's what it's all about.

Endless nightmare for diablos' sounds legit amazing... I'm guessing its one of those sleep effects where they don't wake from dmg.
