Presidential Candidates .. Who do you like?
Lakshmi.Awsome said: » gotta si;dw of that? It's satire of women saying how they don't have to worry their pretty little heads anymore because Santorum will figure out for them when and how many children they should have. It also makes fun of the notion that a pregnancy resulting from a rape is a 'gift from God.' If you can watch it later, do. It was amusing. ^^ Edit: But try not to read the comments. You might facepalm so hard on one or two of them that you give yourself a headache. xD I did my small part today in Ohio. I voted for substance over appearance. I will vote my conscience regardless of delegate counts. We as a nation deserve what we get. If we vote for war with Iran, continuation of the decimation of the dollar... It's our fault. What are the odds Russia is gonna sit back and watch us dominate their ally Iran? They're already a bit peeved about Libya. We let the central banks rule us despite the warnings of Jefferson and Lincoln and Jackson, we deserve our fate. God bless Ron Paul, and Judge Napolitano (who lost his job not long after this aired). These are true statesmen to me. It doesn't take a conspiracy nut to see that no matter who is elected nothing changes.
All you can expect is bigger government and more taxes. That video hit it right on the head. I went to vote today and what did I see on the ballot? Not one, not two but three new taxes being voted on. Two were school ballots and the other was some healthcare thing I had never heard of. Also it was explained to me today exactly why schools always ask for more money. Basically it's a huge circle jerk, because the state will take money away from schools who then have to ask for more money. Then if they don't get the money, they can be taken over by the state. The state then raises taxes without vote and gives the school back to the city. But that's a whole nother issue. TL;DR entire thread.
I dislike all the republican candidates. I've been listening to everything since South Carolina~ish, and I gotta say, they ALL scare me. Nothing will change if any of them are elected, though; just the same *** with a different face. I would much rather keep Obama in office than give the job to one of these guys. Santorum: Religious nutjob who, if left unchecked, would probably love the idea of merging church and state. Religion should have NO PART in government. Romney: Seems to be in his own little world. Will say something, then later say it never happened, can't connect with the poor and lower middle class, can't explain how exactly he plans to fix the economy (aside from broad ideas which resemble what Obama is doing anyway), etc (tired right now) Gingrich: I just don't agree with him most of the time. He also seems to rely on emotion far too much. Doesn't matter since he's behind now, anyway. Paul: Has some good ideas, but ruins it by being insane. Very isolationist, which is something almost impossible to do these days. Cutting the government as much as he would like would also upset the delicate balance, at least as far as I can tell. Same as Gingrich, he's pretty much a moot point to debate, since he's not going to be elected. See where Gerrymandering killed Kucinich's seat? Sucks cause he was one of the few politicians I liked.

and Jesi that's why I decided to stick to elections/voting that matters (local and state level) and until the public is fed up enough to get rid of the system that's been created, which would take requiring changing our voting system we can't get rid of the crony capitalist government that we have created. It's sad but true. Odin.Liela said: » ![]() lol'd 3rd party run for president Ron Paul?

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2012/03/could-you-really-get-rid-porn-internet/49953/ Man this guy is a nut job. What is even worse is how many people are actually voting for him. In Ohio it was like 440,000 to 420,000 in favor of Mitt Romney. It's sad but true. That's why I support the altervative vote. Explained here for those who don't know what it is. Oh and if you want to see some real propaganda from Europe about the issue when they voted on it a couple years back, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/user/officialNO2AV Basically if the same vote happened here, the same nonsense propaganda campaign would happen and it wouldn't pass. It's so simple yet many people think it will cost a fortune or is too complicated. They also think it means the one person can get multiple votes. It's just absurd. But that propaganda campaign shows you how powerful the alternative vote is. It had the politicians in charge crapping their pants at the thought to actually have to work for votes. Leviathan.Chaosx said: » Banning pornography. That's a good one. Oh wait he's serious? Quote: Outgoing Republican Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME) joined Democrats in defeating the transportation bill amendment. *Sniff* My favorite senator is retiring. Makes me a sad panda. If your really interested in knowing why the US spends so much on military then I can explain that.
Our nation practiced a policy of non-interventionism back in the 1900's, we had a small military and most of it was "on demand" drafting. Then WW1 happened, but for the most part the USA didn't want to maintain a large standing military force. Then WW2 happened and the advent of the nuclear bomb. At that time major world powers had started to get the idea that they could assimilate other weaker nations. The US Government decided at that time that rather then draw down and go back into a non-intervention mentality and wait until the next would-be-Hitler started WWIII with nuclear weapons, that we would instead maintain a large global military force to identify and discourage any other super power from starting WWIII. Russia and China didn't like that idea, we were ruining their plans, and that became what is known as the cold war. The entire last half of the Korean war was US soldiers fighting Chinese soldiers as North Korea had expended it's capacity to fight. Same with the Vietnam War, it was the US vs China and this time China didn't make the same mistakes. Basically the US spends so much because it research's and creates bigger better toys then every other nation in the world as well as a superior trained and equipped force. The US Army trains it soldiers to combat other nations at a 1:4 to 1:5 ratio yet practices doctrine that insists on a 2:1 force on force ratio. Against this kind of training, equipment and strategic assets no other nation can reasonably fight a war and expect to not be destroyed, much less win. Certainty of defeat is a very strong deterrent. Of course non-state lead asymmetrical warfare (think terrorist organizations) were not thought of as a serious threat when they had this idea after WWII. Sorry for the long wall of text. The short of is that we spend all that money so that no other nation has a snowball's chance in hell of winning, and we want them to know it. Because they don't have a chance at winning they don't even try. South Korea hasn't become the the special province of new south China. Japan hasn't become east China, and dozens of countries across east Europe are free because the USSR couldn't exercise it's military might. We subsidize the defense of every other nation in the world, and they hate the US for it. my friend and I thought of the idea that the US should charge rent to every nation that has a US base in it, that should cover a good bit of our budget.
Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin. Divide and conquer.
Also, Ron Paul is a beast Quetzalcoatl.Taberifx said: » Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin. Divide and conquer. Also, Ron Paul is a beast Sorry. *Dr. Ron Paul It's just really too bad that so often, that power is under direction of those unfit for that kind of responsibility, or people who are trying to do too many different things - fight a perfect war. I can't remember for sure, but, I think I remember reading that by tonnage, the US Navy is larger than the next 17 navies combined. Staggering. Fix: Next 13 navies. Yep our elected official's are idiots sometimes, *cough* most of the time. Unless your referring to the senior brass, then your horribly wrong.
Sometimes I wish we'd just go back to the isolationist ways again, but then you gotta look at what other aggressive nations would do to fill that power vacuum. Being in east Asia, you can see China constantly pushing things to see what they can get away with. Case in point was that they declared the entire South China Sea to be theirs. In response the US Military moved a Carrier Battle Group (USS George Washington) into the middle of it. We did that to send a message, not to the Chinese but to the other smaller nations nearby that the US wouldn't allow China to take control of that regions economic life line. Your text to link here... The ballistic missile shield in east Europe that everyone was yelling over is another example. It had nothing to do with Iran and everything to do with the Ukraine, a democratic nation, not wanting an aggressive Russia to attempt a land grab. Russia did exactly that with Georgia, funded a separatist group and excited them to revolt, then when the Georgian military went to suppress that revolt the Russian military ran in to "defend" their ethnic brothers. After defending the revolting and they then pressed towards the capitol to take control of the country. They stopped when the US air dropped "advisers / humanitarians" into the Capitol to support the "US Embassy". My brother was in the unit that actually landed there and got to hand out there a few weeks before leaving. The Russians didn't' want to hazard a US soldier dieing inadvertently and thus leading to a Russian provoked confrontation with the USA. It's these kinds of things that keep the us from bringing everyone home. Voting for Ron Paul, regardless if he is or is not a viable candidate is shocking to me. Sure, some of his ideas (on the surface) sound sane and even logical in the face of "forced" disenfranchisement. Yes the but is coming... BUT this is a man who idolizes a (dead) sociopath, many of his ideas and thoughts come from his "mentor" Ayn Rand. If you have read all there is about this woman, and still support her and Mr. Paul, then fine. Libertarianism is *** scary ***, dont think so? Read up. I understand what it is like to be young and disillusioned with the future and politicians. The Republican party wants you jaded, apathetic and voting for Ron Paul... just do some research on "Permanent Republican Majority" (you may have to dig a little). I know "democrats" are not perfect, but at least there are many good democrats. I know this hard to believe for some of you. Take it from a life long fiscal conservative, Republicans represent nothing but money, and I don't mean your money unless they want it. The whole Republican moral/religious thing is ***. They don't give a ***about that, its a *** ploy ...look this way while we destroy medicare (so they can turn around and say... look it needs to fixed!). They had the Presidency, both house's and the supreme court for 6 years, where was all this ***about contraception and abortion when that ***kicking jesus dood was running things??? Wake up, make your politicians work for you. FYI, a written letter is more powerful than you know.
