Wow, I didn't expect this to end up here. This is my news station territory, and we are buzzing about over this. It's really sad but we can't air anything yet because we can't get confirmation if it's really him.
We have talked to our station lawyer and hopefully the daughter will give us some sort of confirmation that it is really her parents in written documentation.
Also this video was created in 2004, it is now 2011. The stature of limitations have expired and legal action against the father is no longer possible, although it would get him kicked out of office.
From the forbes link
Quote: Quoting Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 12.01. FELONIES.
Except as provided in Article 12.03, felony indictments may be presented within these limits, and not afterward:
(2) ten years from the date of the commission of the offense:
(D) injury to a child, elderly individual, or disabled individual punishable as a felony of the first degree under Section 22.04, Penal Code;
I have no idea if that's what this is though, someone else will have to comment on that.

First whipping your kids with a belt is so wrong everyone should go to jail for it, now you all think you have the right to pirate music and pay the band directly. You want to circumvent every aspect of life and live as you see fit.
Amazing is the only word to sum all of this up.

corporal punishment as defined here aka they don't do it in schools anymore or as ordered by a court of law.
"Corporal punishment of minors within domestic settings is lawful in all 50 of the United States and, according to a 2000 survey, is widely approved by parents."

Well it's definitely in the works for some sort of arrest, this guy won't be in office very long. Hopefully she gets some justice. If we post a news story on our website i'll post it here.

Sadly its a fine legal line being drawn. Keep in mind that i agree that the video is very wrong.. he came at her way too many times, too many hits on the legs and looks like he swung way too hard.
He also looked like he wanted her to keep refusing so he could continue.
They can only hope to drive him to resignation. I really don't think there will be any legal case. Only an upset public.

Seriously, video from 2004 when it's 2011 will make no bit of difference now.
Granted it was over-the-top, but nowadays you can't even look at your kid wrong without some form of punishment, or public outcry. Then you wonder when society has a bunch of spoiled, degenerate young adults.
If they were kept in check a little more often, things would be fine. Though now you even raise a hand to spank a kid and you can get in s*it for it.
I'd post a link from Youtube or a quote by Denis Leary on how smacking your kids around for discipline is fine, but there'd either be some massive fallout towards me about it, or god forbid someone posts a swear word on the forum.

Her mother devorced him, i'm pretty sure her sister got beat too. I don't think so. Only her father, which will either end up in jail or with a restraining order and a ruined life because he will be kicked out of office.

So i have a lack in morality because i believe in whipping your kids once in awhile if they continue to disrespect you, steal, cheat, or lie.....
So i also have a lack in morality because i don't believe in pirating a song i like so much until it officially comes out when it shouldn't have been leaked in the first place... And then try to tell people you pay for it later...
Damn... being immoral is hard.

Nevermind that the whole world has gone to ***.
In my opinion, it was the attention, concern, and involvement in their childs life that made spankings work for the parents who used it. Someone who doesn't give a ***about their children isn't going to discipline them or be involved in their life in any meaningful way.
Really concerned how people are directly linking physical violence to healthy psychological development. Also I highly doubt our spoiled and worthless generation is going to completely fail at the world like our parents generation has.

Yes, I do see it as a lack of solid Morals.
As I've stated before I feel strongly that if you have to resort to beating someone to try and control their actions, you've failed as a parent.
You should never hit a child, there are always other options present, much more effective options at that. You shouldn't allow your children to steal, and you should never condone lying. But you should also lead by example, and whipping your children to get a point across is a pretty poor example.

I support your view Clinpachi.
It's not our place to judge or decide how a parent look over their own children. I grew up where my siblings and I were whooped by not only our parents but grandparents if we did something we.
I didn't watch all the video, but I saw enough to know that even with his good intentions, he went overboard with it. She didn't make it any better by not obeying her father. I can see how he got frustrated and got to that point.

You're probably doing more harm than good. because Wikipedia is an absolute reliable source especially in raising children or even abuse of those.
