COD: MW3

About that hit detection. Back when I played CPL in Counterstrike the AWP was my signature gun. I still have a few video clips of some of the BS shots I managed to pull off but my crosshairs were on target.

A lot of the Sniper videos of MW3 that are coming out seems like the crosshairs are never on the target yet they still get the kills. Is that just a console thing?

Was playing on Xbox actually. And it's theater mode lag. I could just record directly from games but I rarely get anything I want to upload, so recording theater mode is far easier and all.

Having an arbitrary aim adjustment when you first scope in just to stop people quickscoping when 98% of the people doing it are terrible and the other 2% are good enough to roll you with any gun anyway was just silly.

2% is way too high

A Kansas City gamer is lucky he's not dead after fending off a pistol-packin' moron who wanted his copy of Modern Warfare 3.

This is a story of two gamers, each of whom really wanted a copy of Modern Warfare 3, and the different ways they went about getting it. First up is Adam Freeman, who picked up his preordered copy of the game at a midnight launch event at GameStop, went back to his car and drove home like a normal person. And then there's David Morales, who also went to GameStop for the midnight launch, saw the stupidly huge lineup and decided to opt for a DIY express checkout instead.

Morales followed Freeman back to his apartment, using his red Ford Explorer to block him in when Freeman pulled into his parking spot. As Freeman got out of his car, Morales approached him and "racked a round" in his gun, shouting, "Give me the game!" in what we can only imagine was his best Steven Baldwin impression.

"Forget you!" Freeman replied - something along that line, anyway.

At that point, Morales "racked another round" for some reason, causing the first bullet to eject and fall to the ground. Perhaps Freeman saw that as his opening, or maybe he just decided that Morales was an idiot; whatever the case, he grabbed the gun by the barrel, they struggled for a bit, and then Morales ran back to his SUV and drove away. Freeman went to his apartment and called 911.

And that should be where this sad, sordid and silly tale ends, but it's not. After talking to Freeman, police went to the GameStop location where the big adventure began to see if the store had any surveillance footage that might have captured Morales' face. What they found was even better: a red Ford Explorer in the parking lot and a man matching Morales' description standing in line, waiting to buy the game. He was arrested and eventually copped to the attempted robbery.

As for Freeman, he said he reacted to the situation instinctively and acknowledged that it probably wasn't the smartest move to make. "If I had more time to think about it, I probably would have just given him the game," he said. "It's a wonderful game, but it's not worth dying over."

A Colorado idiot threatened to shoot employees and blow up a Best Buy after the store screwed up his Modern Warfare 3 preorder.

Call of Duty really seems to bring out the Einsteins, doesn't it? First we had the criminal mastermind who was picked up at a midnight launch event after a botched robbery attempt and now comes the sordid tale of Lomorin Sar, a 31-year-old man from Colorado who was mightily disappointed when he learned that his local Best Buy had screwed up his Modern Warfare 3 preorder.

When it turned out that the store didn't have his game, Sar became "irate," according to the manager, and instead of angling for a gift card or a free upgrade to the Hardened Edition, he started asking employees what time they were done work - so he could shoot them in the parking lot as they left. Then, for good measure, he threatened to blow up the whole damn store.

Fearful employees, unable to determine whether Sar was a lunatic or just a kook, called police, who pulled him over as he drove away from the store and charged him with disorderly conduct. "Investigating officers issued a criminal summons to a man who threatened to carry out his own version of Modern Warfare at the electronics store," Detective Bob Friel told the Aurora Sentinel. "Fortunately, this situation did not end in violence."

And why didn't this guy just pop over to another Best Buy to pick up his game if he was so desperate to get it that night? Apparently he's a bit of a known hothead; 9News.com said he's had at least a half-dozen previous run-ins with police over traffic violations.

Those stories are just sad and pathetic.
Now if we had crazy stories about picking up Skyrim at midnight involving people dressed up with viking helmets, animal skins and wielding replica swords while shouting in pseudo-dragon tongue, then that would be funny.

I'm too lazy to check atm but I heard a rumor that they are going to charge a monthly fee to play MW3 online. Any truth to that?

The attack dogs of MW3 are strapped with explosives.. Inb4 a certain animal rights organisation gets butthurt.

I'm having a helluva time shooting down the recon drone, I shoot javelins at it, nothing. I shoot stinger missiles at it, nothing. It doesn't seem to launch any countermeasures, ~_~!

I think you have to level up the launcher to get more shells. My Javelin is level 2, still only 1 shell however. It takes out almost everything with 1 shot, except for AC130 and Pavelow.

The lag compensation is why lag switching is harder to do. 1) if you disconnect your connection you get kicked (a patch by trey-arch that can detect it since the game is behind now instead. Which is Good). When users now flood there internet to make there connection slower by uploading or downloading this gives them an advantage. This is true because of the lag compensation. When you're internet is running slow your actually behind someone else on your screen so your able to kill them in 1-3 hits, but on the other users screen he can unload a whole clip on you and still not kill you. Since your xbox is still behind of the other users your xbox never tells his xbox that you shot at him, instead it accepts the (you died code, and moves on). This is because of the lag, your xbox never got his information telling you that he was shooting at you.

This wouldn't have ever effected the game if the lag compensation was not implemented. That is why in MW2 the user who is lagging would be the one behind everyone else so instead of him getting the kill like in BO the user who got the response in faster would win the fight. This is the reason why people complain about lag. I agree there is absolutely no lag in this game what so ever! That's so true because of the lag compensation. This makes everyone run behind thus eliminating lag. The problem is with the coding and who should actually get the kill. MW2 had lag issues all the time. This only affected the users with slow internet (and knew who it was because of the skipping), Mine ran lag free 100% of the time on my old 24mb connection. Now I'm at 100mbs and its 10x worse that MW2

There is no denying that there is no lag in this game. There is also no denying that the coding is favoring slow internet.

JD_2020 has already admitted on these forums (do a search under his user-name) about this being the first COD to get lag compensation.

For anyone with false beliefs. Do this.

1) Tether your cell phones 3g or 4g internet to your xbox then play online. Watch how well you do. Then go back to your fast 25+mb connection and notice the difference for your self.

I only play using my cell phones internet anymore. I'm also tired of all the users online who call me cheater, lag switcher, and so on when im not even host. I don't let this get to me since or worried about being banned or reset since its my internet that is slow not me cheating. A cell phones internet varies so much that 1 second it could be good (4 bar), and the next its dead slow (1 bar). and everyone who see's you at 1 bar assumes your cheating. The funny thing, I've been host on my 4g sprint connection before! They obviously give host to the fastest ping, not internet speed. When I'm host though the game makes me feel like im GOD. I love being host on crappy internet, but is rare when its that slow. This is why users who are host who slow there internet down get the advantage (thus the reason people call cheater or lag switcher) I dont see it at cheating, I see it as fixing a problem treyarch made. If the lag compensation wasn't implemented this wouldn't even be possible.
