COD: MW3

Since it is a mere 7 days from release, and I can't find a topic of it; I thought it would be good to start a MW3 thread.

I am hoping for two things:

Good matchmaking for online matches.

That the survival mode system is good enough to warrant taking a night off from vs. play and grabbing a couple buddies to do marathons of it.

Anyone elses' thoughts?

not like going to a midnight release is a big deal lol.

Is when you've been waiting for the game for years and just can't wait the extra 12 hours or so to get it during the day.. But the level of 'suck' of being there for one (and listen to idiots ramble on about their greatest headshots or most *** deaths and their WoW characters and everything else) kinda isn't worth getting it sooner. I think I was the only one there who had bathed within the last few days, minus the employees.

black ops problems could be solved by playing hardcore and sucking less.

its the spawning points that were lame~ but meh treyarch just sucks at everything

I like playing it asap because I have a very intense learning curve. I get good before others do; therefore, the more I play FPS within the first few months of release, the more I rape. After the PSN goes down for 2 weeks and everyone is lag switching and camping, I don't do as well.

I'm watching a live stream on IGN about Multiplayer matches on MW3 from the developers. Really not impressed with how the gameplay looks which is saddening because I've been looking forward to this game.

By MW3, you mean MW2.. Right? I thought MW3 = map pack...

so cant wait for this game to finally come out been a long time coming lol hope its as good as they say

Im currently playing it on 360 .. One of the first weapons you get is M4A1 /w a Hybrid sight ( Goes from red dot to 12x Zoom scope) and XM25 a Sniper grenade launcher of some sort .. its kinda crazy

tons of young dudes, a woman pickin it up for her man on her way home from work, a meh-looking girl gamer, a dude and his girlfriend (who looked bored while playing on her phone-he looked excited), me and slip (trying to figure out why his cell kept dying), and this huge...unwashed...shorts-wearing 40+ yr old dude...trapped in a small game store...

well, until we found out we could go outside; then it was sit on the car/sidewalk and listen to them ramble about WoW, till we got tired of hearing that old dude...and hid in the car.

NEVAR...AGAIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!

ill be working the midnight release. spent last night running the cables and setting up the audio room to have it for the release "party". set up is pretty sick for those that get to play it early. ill pick it up at midnight sense imma be there anyways.

curious to see how its gonna play on an expensive projector and surround sound set up.

Which is all it really needs.

I went to the MW2 midnight release and I will never do it again lol.. about 200+ people lined outside my local EB games.. then what seemed like a mini hurricane hit the front doors.. Thunder Lightning huuuge gusts of wind pissing rain and snow in the span of 5 min and me being a genius was wearing shorts and a T shirt... I get home at aroune 3 AM~ and play till 5 AM then I get a call from my boss saying I have to come in to work for 6:30.. (he gave me the day off the only reason why I went to the midnight release lol) but yes I can't wait for MW3 I hope its as good as the first 2 :3

Lot of info came out today, level cap is 80 with 10 prestiges, so more levels than Black Ops. I kinda boo that, I didnt like level 70/10 in Mw2, thought Black Ops did it right with 50/15.

I'm about to accidentally derail this thread, and not in a intentional way. It's about to turn into a Battlefield 3 vs MW3 conversation sadly and for that i actually do apologize... it's not my intention but someone is going to disagree as per usual.

Before it comes to that though... if your an avid gamer or TRUE gamer.. just freaking get both and play what you want.

To me, this is where call of duty will automatically fail until it reverts back to the ways of Call of Duty 4.... Dedicated Servers. "But Clinpachi oh goodness there will be dedicated servers in MW3", automatically wrong for several reasons.

1) Modern Warfare 3 will feature dedicated servers for UNRANKED matches only.
If you want to level up, unlock or prestige, you will have to play on the matchmaking side of things only. Server admins will have the power to disallow or allow items on a server which seems nice on paper but every server you join will have different rules or red tape to cut through when just looking to play.... this really defeats the purpose. But hey i guess some people might like finding one good awesome server who allows them to use anything they want right out of the box, having the option to say "Screw leveling up, i play on xyz server which allows stuff anyways".

They also expanded yet again on killstreak rewards.............


Tactical Nuke guys... it's ok it's tactical.

So anotherwords hey screw teamwork lets just try to be a solo hero and have the most kills at the end of every round.

The next big mistake is "Call of Duty Elite" membership. 50$ a year extra for a premium membership where you get DLC content and map packs a little before everyone else?.... Extra rewards for leveling up because you are "premiere member"? Are you kidding me?

I know this sounds as coming off as really really hating on MW3, and hell it might be, i may still pick it up and give it a try... but there is just way too many things out of whack with this game...

I mean look at the freaking Mountain Dew gamer fuel BS.... you get more XP by entering codes through mountain dew... so not only are they promoting another product they are creating a dependency on soda to get you faster exp......




Do you people seriously plan on giving into this pure amount of ***?

Battlefield 3 DID feature some Dr.Pepper promotions... HOWEVER... all they do is give you a bottlecap code so you can unlock a few dogtag customizations (5 in total)... dog tags do NOT give you a freaking advantage... just purely cosmetic....

Where is the line anymore?

Battlefield 3 gave me something i haven't felt in a long time, a sense of teamwork... getting the goals done over kill counts and k/d... helping your team actually win is the above all goal. I once had 0 Kills, and 12 deaths... but got the MVP 1 ribbon (highest score in game period) and was obviously #1 on my team for the leader board. I got my *** handed to me the entire game but i was the ONLY one taking over the objectives (I needed flag attacker ribbons to get a medal).

Not to even mention different play styles with vehicle variety... which actually are huge in difference... it's not just GENERIC half *** simulation in the jets or helicopters for example... you actually feel like your playing ace combat in a jet... its an entirely different way to play all together.

I'll probably succumb to getting MW3 and play with a friend or two, but i will NEVER sit there and buy 245325329 cases of mountain dew just to get 45 minutes of extra freaking EXP..... And i'll be damned if you'll ever see me prestige... Hell i might be one of those people who take advantage of a dedicated server with all unlocks just so i can play casual and not care... (Because that sounds fair right?)

I've tried my best to not turn this into a rant or physical "he's hating on MW3" type of post... but there's just too much wrong... too... too much...

Feel free to quote bits and pieces and take what i said out of context in attempt to argue, not really going to get into it over this... simply not worth it. I already stated at the beginning of this post to just play both if your an avid gamer... and that i even might pick up a copy to play on very casual or for single player.

Overall... I'm already disappointed in this.

really like some of the new features they added to their multiplayer. they look cool. but ive been playing a lot of battlefield as of late and i like it a lot also.

some differences i can see between them is 1) the lack of recoil. seems silly but i think it adds to the realism of playing these types of games. and 2) the lack of vehicular warfare.

im not a battlefield fanboy or anything, ive been playing cod since mw2(was my first shooter online). but i think any developer should make strides to make their game better and adding some features(like the ones i previously mentioned) to the cod formula would make it an overall better game.

I only wish they would climb into bed together to make a MW3/BF3 hybrid... they could work very well together on strengths/weaknesses but once Modern Warfare 4 came out they thought they hit a pot of gold worth milking until the well runs dry....

MW2... blackops... MW3.... There isn't even really huge differences....

But teamwork is an essential component of getting huge number of kills without dying unless the enemy team is flat out terrible. Do you know how I stay alive? Because I know where the enemy is. How do I know where the enemy is? The positions and callouts of my team.

People saying there is no teamwork in CoD have never played with/against anyone good, where without teamwork - you will be squashed.


Work out how much DLC packs cost and it's not bad at all.

I gave BF3 a good try but simply couldn't get into it at all. It's not that I need constant fast paced gameplay to enjoy myself; I just couldn't stand how slow everything was/is.

CoD is tactical and if you don't play it tactically, you will get destroyed by people who do. It does involve teamwork likewise.

I'm already done with BF3 as well. Screw teamwork. Teamwork isn't fun. Having fun is fun. D:

There is a huge difference mechanically at least between MW2 and Blops, just like between MW1 and MW2. We shall see between MW2 and MW3, but even if it may look the same on the surface, I guarantee that the competitive field is very different.


Too much recoil like in BF3 just makes guns not fun to use at all though... some realism is good, but gameplay should > realism.

Feel free to LOL at me, but I think I'd only get MW3 for the single player Campaign.
Multiplayer doesn't really interest me anymore, especially when the franchise has been over sensationalized and exploited to other companies for marketing expansion and whatnot.
