Your Favorite/not So Favorite FFXI Zones.

Everyone has areas that they like to hang out in the game and listen to their favorite music or enjoy their scenery. Which zones are your favorite in this game and why? Tell us about the zones you don't like so much or you wished SE would do an overhaul on... Tells.

I've always loved Sea. It reminds me of PSO but based in pastel colors. It was also great how all the enemies were unique in their own way, with zero rehashes.

Zones I don't care for are the ToAU zones. The layouts are overly complex, with very little detail in of themselves. One could say the same for Sky, but I enjoy the stylistic approach of the inside of sky, whereas ToAU zones like the Mire and Wajoam just seem unstylistic, with an emphasis on brush.

I always hated sky. As soon as I got access to it...there was a brief moment of excitement..then I walked through those glowey doors and hated my life and if I never had to step foot in sky again, I would be ok with that.

hell is farming in sky even if things have been made easier then they used to be back in the day. I still hate it.

I've not played in a year or what not so Im missing out on new zones and monsters and shiznit.

I always thought Zi'tah had the best music, the scenery wasnt bad either.

Selbina and whitegate had good music too.

I dont know what my favorite zone was, I can think of lots of places that have plenty of "lol, remember that one time when"s that make them special..usually involved lots of dieing. I had the most fun in TOAU areas though, that was my style of endgame.

Dislike:

Meriphataud Mountains.
Any zone with {S} after its name.
Mount Zhayolm.
All of Windurst
Abyssea Tahrongi.

Would love to see a HD (FFXIV style) remake of Tavnazia and its zones, Mis etc. Same with all the liked zones.

Sacrarium and parts of Pso'X'ja have always kinda freaked me out in regards to the zones, they're intimidating.. and yeah, the gas jets suck in attohwa lol

This is probably my fav area in game it's in carpentar's landing. This spot is filled with detail,it's dark, gloomy yet beautiful

Least favorite spot, Port Jueno

Miseraux coast is my favourite zone

My least favourite zone is probably Attowha.

Zi'Tah and East Ronfaure S are my favorites. Also really like the music in those zones.

I hate Beaucedine Glacier. Not because I can't navigate it, but because the zig-zag motion to go up or down makes me want to stab myself.

I'd have to say that my favorite areas in the game are Misereaux Coast, and Bibiki Bay. Fun scenery and details like the waterfalls in Misareaux or the glittering water at sunset in Bibiki make them so pretty.

My least favorite places are torn between LaThiene Plateau and North Gustaberg. I see alot of people hating on Attowha, but with a decent map its no more complicated than Yuhtunga/Yhoator Jungles, whereas North Gustaberg and LaThiene Plateau are generally pointless walking with tons of obstacles and long distance, along with the general lack of interesting scenery. They were great and exciting back when I was level 2 kicking *** until a random NM would pop, but in endgame they just make me /sigh.

TLDR:

Dislikes: LaThiene Plateau / North Gustaberg

Aydeewa Subterrane is my favorite. Best music ever, cool looking zone.


Least favorite, uhhh. Probably The Garden of Ru'Hmet. I mean, I get around easily enough and the zone look cool, but all the nms are just plain awful to find/pop.

I may as well tell you guys my favorite areas. purgonorgo isle, carpenter's landing, lufaise meadows.

Least favorite. Ifrit's cauldron keeps coming to mind for some reason, and i'm thinking gustaberg areas.

I like bastok the most of all the cities though, least favorite, i can't really say there's one i absolutely dislike but i can't really say i care much for windurst's music. I think i've heard 3 year old's wind up toys sound more appealing than the music for that area.

I love the Sanctuary of Zi'tah, sea, sky, Ronfaure, Movapolos... well, I love a lot more than that but I can't remember them all. I love the boat ride in Bibiki Bay, too. Such pretty scenery!

I dislike Attowa. It's big and like a maze and the fact that it's full of bumps and cracks that I can't step over is annoying.

lol yeah, i can't really say i like it in there too much either. den of rancor is pretty cool though.

I've always really liked the view of Riverne - Sites A and B. Even if the whole displacement thing was super annoying, the scenery was worth it. Same with the Promyvion areas. I always thought they were pretty neat, music and all.

Speaking of NPC dialogue, there's this hilarious cutscene in Nashmau with a Qiqurn there if anyone remembers? Something about some Taru parents who are spoiling their daughter, and a Qiqurn who is scared of Tarus.

I remember! He was freaking out at the little girl haha

Just from a visual perspective...

The waterfall in Misareaux Coast is one of the most beautiful places Imho, also Purgonorgo Isle and Al'Taieu are on top of my list.

Speaking of Al'Taieu...Zilarts had TERRIBLE TASTE. I mean yeah Ru'Aun Gardens is a very pretty scenery, but the buildings? Seriously zilartian buildings are just utterly ugly, their architects must have been the worst in Vana'diel history! Also wtf is wrong with the inside of the structures?

Anyway, worst place ever: South Gustaberg, I feel like I'm going to get some serious illness just by walking through it every time.

My least fav is Meriphataud Mountains.. feels like it takes forever to travel through. ><;

West Sat _S, Windy_S, Mis. Coast, Zitah, Gustaberg(suprisingly), Castle Baileys Keep, Selbina, Rolanberry(at one point in time) and the sandworm BCNMs.

Scenery:
Sea, Zitah, Nyzul, Purg Isle and Mount Z(to a point).

Favorite NPC:
The ohat taru from CoP.

Aydeewa Subterrane and Arrapago Reef are my favourite areas (Arrapago Reef also has my favourite music)

The waterfall in Misareaux Coast makes me cringe when I think of all the people who have prob taken some mithra there for a cyber picnic it should be renamed make-out creek. >.>

I loved Cat Sith during wotg so thats prob my fav npc but the qiqirns also rock.

Best zones:
The sky palaces and Pso'Xja, by far. I have many memories in these zones that I'm fond of (granted, I never really joined a sky LS)
Pso'Xja was amazing because of this guy, as well as insane music and an overall creepy/terrific environment.


Anyways, most underrated zones: probably those boat scenes in Carpenter's Landing/Bibiki Bay
actually, holy ***, I somehow forgot about the Sacrarium! It shares some of the characteristics Pso'Xja possesses, minus the music, and some of its own - the well-designed maze, the fomors, the minotaurs..... that zone was pretty epic.
Another zone which lost its luster a while ago; before level 80, it was amazing to explore.
