Idk maybe they brought some infected food in or the virus is contagious like a cold or something.
Edit: And Daryl shook hands with him. Will rage if they do that to Daryl.
I think they're introducing some sort of "new zombie". I noticed earlier when rick was staring through the fence, the zombie he was looking at had eyes like that too.
Yeah I meant to quote the guy on the previous page, with my comment. Didnt know I'd page with it. Thats what we were talking about. I'll edit my one now actually

didnt we already learn that EVERYONE is infected already? just dont die...
Yeah. In the show a bite "burns you out with a fever and kills you". And like the end of S1, everyone is infected. But I think he meant the possible "new" virus. Hard to tell with all we've been shown so far
Its pointing towards the food supply. Pig dying.... and the kid thanking Daryl about the deer meat he ate. We know they are all infected, maybe the virus is evolving and there are more severe ones. I would suspect we'll see the entire camp that ate that deer become heavily sick like that kid. Who knows....
The zombie that Rick saw has the same blood stains on his face as Patrick. I think it's just to say that that zombie died from the same thing as Patrick. Patrick mentions a deer so I'm thinking it's some new animal to human disease.
And how come we have not seen any non-human zombies? Is this ***human exclusive? Or are animals affected differently?

in the comics it's human only it never affected any animals.
I'm certain that the death of the pet pig, the puffy-eyed zombie at the fence, and Patrick's sudden nausea/hemorrhaging/death are all pointing to either a new virus or plague, or a mutated form of the original virus.
As for the pig dying, either the virus is airborne, or the prison's food or water supply has been contaminated. Remember in season 2 when there was concern over water contamination from zombies falling into Hershel's wells?
Yeh I think its a new form of the vurua and thats the ones that animals have. All of them are infected so maybe the additional virus that animals carry fuse with the humans virus making their mutation accelerated and enhanced maybe. Id like to think or a more dangerous and aggresive zombie. Maybe even 28 days later style. Guess we will see.

I dont think its necessarily a "new" virus, just a new trigger. The hemorrhagic fever is a key part of the virus when we thought that only bites, scratches, and blood getting in the system spread the virus and caused the turn. Now, the fever just seemingly started on its own and killed the host without any trigger (Death, fatal bacterial infection [zombie bite, scratch, blood in system],etc.). its just interesting now, i definitely cant wait for them to flesh all of that out.
But then again, if animals are infected but dont turn upon death they could be carriers a swell just as the survivors are.

Or he died from something normal like any of us would without medical help.
I think that's the better story. The fact that life can never go back to normal fully because there's always random, unexpected deaths. A heart attack when no one's around, an accident at home / work, etc. Any one of the hundreds of things that happen every day and you've got yourself another outbreak.
No he definately died at an accelerated rate. A the fact that he died so quickly and all the foreshadows showed its defintely either a new form of zombie or a new twist to the virus.

Yea, I meant to add more to that but my keyboard went haywire and stopped typing. But this was particularly random enough to not be a coincidence out of the blue "random medical" thing.

Thats why i associated it with how the virus works (and the hemorrhagic fever). Just makes me think "new trigger!" /tinfoilhat on :<
Enu I agree with you I was responding to the one who said he died of natural causes lol. I definately agree with the new trigger and hope it results in a new zombie

No one said he died of natural causes.
People randomly turning into walkers without having any contact with them would be the closest this show could probably come to jumping the shark. An 'airborne' version of the virus is basically this.
My guess is still that he had a disease that kills both people and animals. The zombie virus may not turn animals (like the pig and the boar) but it will turn people. Maybe the prison becomes a place that's unlivable due to everything needing to be incinerated to clean it and so they group is forced out.

That's assuming that Patrick died of a new or accelerated form of the zombie virus. It could be something else entirely that killed him - septicemic plague, or something along the lines of ebola. And then after death, the zombie virus kicks in.
It would be an interesting spin if, in addition to dealing with walkers, they also have to deal with an outbreak of plague.
Pigs in general are terrifying! Lest we forget that horrid scene in 'Hannibal'. Can you imagine a zombified javolina? And don't for one second think those 300 pound domesticated pigs wouldn't eat you if you were incapacitated in some way!
***, this show has gone downhill :\ It's getting ridiculous.
You do realize we're talking about a fictitious show who's premise surrounds the Zombie Apocalypse, right? I really don't know what grounded sense of reality you'd expect it to have.
I'll say the statement could be considered valid if it goes off the rails like True Blood and a Shapeshifting Werewolf Zombie with severe emotional baggage tries to start an intimate relationship with Carl.
As for my opinion on the matter, looks like a severe strain of ebola; coughing, bleeding from the eyes, etc. We all know everyone is infected, so it doesn't matter if this is the "zombie" virus or not. As soon as they arrived at the prison I said that they should all be sleeping in separate cells and locking them up in the event someone dies in there sleep and turns over night (lookin at you old man, Hershel).
Frankly I don't know if they'll ever really be able to tell us what this thing is given the fact there seems to be no functioning medical research facilities in their general area.
