news from the devs!
That's a huge change. And I'm very excited about the change.
They're basically packaging and selling the game as a completely new product. A completely new graphics engine is a gigantic change. I'm excited for it. Yea, really exciting changes.
I'm so extremly hyped now, that screen of FFXIV V2.0 is mind-blowing! And a whole year to look forward to it. Time to step it up and prepare I guess? Yeah :D time for me to start leveling! :)
too much info... head will explode...
The main thing that impressed me was the fact that they're tying the whole changes in with a storyline. That's such a great and awesome idea. Making you see the changes happen rather than just a jarring transference.
I'm not overly fussed about the yearly subscription before the changes are implemented, but if I get bored, I'll just stop playing until 2.0. Incredibly happy they're re-marketing it completely with a new trailer in E3! First time I've been legitimately excited by XIV news since the first launch. This will gain a lot of publicity regardless of whether it works or not, simply because no MMO has ever done this. In a weird way I'm almost compelled to play less now, so that I have more to do when the game becomes "Version 2.0
the more and more they show humility in regards to how bad this game was originally, the more respect for them I have Same. And I'm highly impressed they're using other MMOs for ideas, rather than dismissing them completely.
I want a fun playable game, not a game that passes off as an unique snowflake. I want to play, simply for the storyline that burgeons 2.0. Well damn.. I knew it was coming sooner or later, but I'm still not ready to pay for the game.. I hope they don't plan to delete characters and ***, I'll give it another go a few months after 2.0 kicks in, but the game is missing a lot to keep me firmly glued and addicted to the game.. At best I can manage a couple months interest at a time.
Oh they mentioned that they are not deleting anything :) We get to keep our current avatars/levels , etc and if we want we get the option to customize it once the new races/customization features are out :D

Also 2.0 will have a free trial available for everyone.
They couldn't delete data...
If they did they might as well just shut down servers until re-release. As everything we achieve until then would go to waste. Pretty sure they wouldn't dare doing that in their situation. Character data won't be deleted.
They just need to work a permanent package deal for those who play both games. (While I no longer play, the BF still DBoxes my account and it would be much appreciated if rewarded for loyalty.) And none of that 'for three months' crap either. This was a surprise. It's beyond what I expected from them. Extremely promising....
Ohh yeah that would be lame if they deleted the character data..but I would guess since they are trying to entice people to come back and play they hopefully wouldn't delete any characters like that ;
They're letting everyone re-customise character race and look in the 2.0 update. It's a great second chance.
Yes this really is something to look forward to.

I hope they reconsider or offer a discounted subscription price until the "new version" if they are really going through with charging people.
Maybe we'll get a DirectX11 new game engine, also with the zone size being reduced my 1GB graphics card memory won't run out lol.
I'm hyped again like I was pre-FFXIV release.. Don't screw it up SE, please. ; ;

It's a great second chance. Re-customize or recreate? Recreate, but you'd still keep everything you have. The main point is because they're adding male mithra, female roegadyn (which I really hope has an Amazonian feel) and Female highlanders. Asura.Daleterrence said: » I'm hyped again like I was pre-FFXIV release.. Don't screw it up SE, please. ; ; Same, I feel really excited again, like back in the day. I'm also psyched they're making the zones into actual zones rather than seamless areas. Also for anyone who hasn't downloaded the PDF:
Taster image for the new content. I can haz Windowed Full Screen please SE? =P

They said they'd be supporting apps made by outside sources (similar to how wow does) so that means that a windowed version is sure to be made by fans even if it's not made officially.
