go to blizzards website and log into your account to confirm there. not sure myself, but friend that got in said blizzard confirms in there because of all the fake emails

EDIT: if they are asking you to email that info, then i'd doubt its credibility

It is 100% fake

A blizzard employee will never ask for a Password at any point(online in game, or through email)

and

Blizzard's emails will 99% of the time will end with Battle.net and not anything else(there is another email they have, but you'd have to go to blizzard's website to see it as i don't remember what it was).

How can I tell if an email I've received is legitimate?

There are a few things to look for when determining whether or not an email is legitimate.

Emails from Blizzard Entertainment will originate from an @blizzard.com or @battle.net address.
Blizzard employees will NEVER ask you for your account password. No matter how legitimate an email may appear, if it asks for your password, it is not from Blizzard Entertainment.
Correspondence from Blizzard Entertainment will employ proper spelling and grammar. If you're able to spot multiple spelling and/or grammatical errors within an email, proceed with caution.
Phishing emails will frequently offer free in-game pets or mounts, several days or months of game time, or Alpha/Beta invites to upcoming Blizzard Entertainment games. If the offer sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Don't accept any offer until you can confirm it's official.
Phishing emails will also frequently claim that an account has been found in violation of a specific policy and will be closed if the owner does not "verify ownership." The "verification" process usually includes replying directly to the email and providing very detailed account information (name, password, email address, CD key, etc). This is not a standard practice of Blizzard Entertainment.
In some cases, phishing emails will ask account owners to visit a malicious website instead. These websites will frequently ask the account owner to "log in," a process which will require the both an account name and password. Through this process, these malicious websites able to glean your account information. If you are ever asked to visit a website linked within an email, please be extremely cautious and always double-check the destination of the hyperlink.

So, if the sending address of an email is showing as @blizzard.com or @battle.net, then the email is definitely legitimate?

Actually, no. Even if you receive an email from an @blizzard.com or an @battle.net address, it's still important to remain cautious. This is because it's possible to change how a sending address appears in the "From" field of an email. The process is known as "spoofing" and may cause a phishing email to initially look like it's been sent by Blizzard Entertainment. To determine the actual sending address of an email, you will need to check the email's header information.

This is fake.

Blizzard has always stated, and made very clear that under no circumstance will they ever ask for your Battle.net account password.

This is a trick used to steal WoW Accounts, and any other game accounts/accounts in general linked to the same info. They get your password, and try it on your E-Mail. Then they log onto the appropriate game to see if you have the password reset feature set which E-mails you your new password. Following up by a hacked account.

Due to internet fraud happening every day, no corporation will ask you for your password ever.

It's very easy to fake any and all parts of an email. You can even make a vulnerable mail server send a fake email on your behalf pretty easily fooling almost all forms of forensics (meaning you won't notice it without doing a great deal of digging and tracing packet captures).

Always type in the website address manually and log in that way. Unless your DNS cache or host file is poisoned ... that's a whole different thing to worry about though! Using a static DNS server such as Google DNS helps though. http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

I work for a penetration testing group and one of the most common ways we get in is by sending a fake email that they think is from "their boss" asking them to "check this now because it's supa-important" and "you may need to allow macros to view it properly". Instant reverse TCP connection backdoor on most systems and since very few people monitor outbound traffic on their firewalls -- you can guess how often they catch it.

I get emails from blizzard@noreply saying my WoW account was hacked. I've never even installed WoW or played it on any computer, at all... my husband gets them too, I wouldn't necessarily trust it unless you can prove its real.
