Lol I think I know what the experiment is :D I'm thinking ox at a county fair...don't wanna spoil this but its the actual famous example. 12,309 jelly beans, put it down or it is not an unbiased experiment :p
Clearly a biased answer though because you know the experiment and are trying to throw it off >,>

It is nearly impossible for me to throw off the experiment ^^

The jar's volume appears to be a gallon. 1 US gallon = 3785.4118 cubic centimeters 1 jelly bean = 3.375 or 27/8 cubic centimeters It can be assumed that 20% of a given volume is air rather than jellybeans 3785.4118 / 2.7 (3.375 * .8 to allow for air space) = 1,402 might be a good guess Reference: http://diggy.wordpress.com/2007/03/07/how-to-win-a-jellybean-counting-contest/
1401 Price is right style :3

If I were to put it down in scientific terms, to which I'm sure everyone in this thread can understand, to the amount of jelly beans contained inside that jar, I would give the term "A lot".

You're releasing the results at midnight, right? That's tomorrow.

It'll be sometime relatively soon. Wanted to give it 24 hours or so.

100 would be a pretty solid big handful, so I'm gonna go on a whim and say there's about 1200 in there.

O.O you can hold 100 jelly beans in your hand? Dang! I can hold probably 20 or 30 maybe. Maybe-- and if I used both hands. Your grippers must be enormous, Arte!

1500 - my simple math was that one handful is 50 and I could get 30 solid handfuls out of it.

Anyone remember what this kind of guessing is called? Where you make a ton of assumptions/guesses and the errors are supposed to cancel each other out so that in the end you get a number that's not too far off.

It's named after a famous physicist or mathematician.

The problem with doing this in this way is that it's super hard to judge based on those pictures. Seeing it right in front of us would yield the kind of results you are looking for.

My guess is 10. Just to be a *** and make your data come out wrong lol

Nah, not sure it may technically work but it's a different one and I would remember it if I heard it.

The on image doesn't actually look like there are beans in the jar...it looks like it is a jar with a bean printed insert type of thing on the inside..so...I guess my guess is

0

*Edit* Of course my eyes super suck so there may be real beans in it in which case my guess is

2,476 that should actually be 2,477 because there are two halves of beans in it too but because they are not whole beans they don;t actually count >.>

Yes I realize that much, but if it even comes close, I'll be happy/convinced.

I just want to preemptively say that it would not be funny and just be a completely overall douchebag move if it was a picture and this was a trick question (for psych rather than a stats class if this is for school).

It would be funny IRL if you could trick a couple of people, but online with those crummy pictures it'd just be... dbaggy.

I think it's funny how a lot of people think this is some elaborate trick to get them to guess a wrong number.

I'd answer but I'm pretty sure I already know what Slip is trying to see.
