SAY WOT. Triple Attack? Treasure Hunter?
HIGH POWERED HNM SPELLS? White Wind?
I might have to stick around just to see how well these things are added.
Wish someone asked a Tizona question however.

What's so illogical about a healing SJ giving a buff to healing spells? Word it however you want, but that's what it comes down to. Well, wording is important, almost always. And the way you put it, is just one way to look at it and in no way what I've been saying.
It's not that fact THAT a sub enhances BLU cures (that's great, awesome even) but rather that ONLY subs do so.
Blue Magic Skill has 0 effect on it, that is the point.
But I've come to the conclusion that some ppl seem to not read posts at all or aren't able to understand the words in them.
It also apears that ppl would be thankful if the same would be the case for WHM. Take away their Healing Magic Skill and make their cures enhanced by, idk, Elemental Magic Skill, since it can be considered a nuke against undead mobs. I can see even more logic in that.
Caitsith.Mahayaya said: »Yeah, I'm guessing Harden Shell on the HNM spells will give a 30 minute Pro+Shell IV-V effect. And that ability to cast an HNM spell every 5 minutes will be used up to cast that before doing much of anything else unless you brought support. That would be cool, indeed. However, I don't think they give us something that potent.

Ragnarok.Sekundes said: »I know that some people want HNM spells to be full time but if they do that they are all likely to simply be a small improvement to what we have. Limiting them to a 5 minute JA gives them the ability to be very much more powerful. They may do it well, they may not but I'll wait till they do to say so. I'm looking forward to it. I don't really have anything to add to this, as it sums it up pretty damn well. It's something no-one really expected to get, has potential to be very good, and it's (most probably) on top of the usual batch of new spells we can expect with another level cap increase.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why half of this thread is arguing over blu healing spells. I understand the line of thinking you're using. I read your posts. I just don't think it matters enough to argue so much about. SE designed blu healing magic this way and I've always been just fine with how well it works. /mage simply adds a needed bonus for support roles. While we're at it lets apply some logic to other parts of this game that make little sense! SE isn't exactly the most logical but logic isn't always balanced either and balance is the main goal.

Hopefully all spells HNM spells will be high damaging, considering it'll be on a 5 min timer. The AoE range might be interesting however.

Evading mobs while gathering them up is better than getting smacked during, also easy to get dream flower/actinic burst off instead of a -interrupt build. Won't be any mob you can't evade easily with a good eva build in gear.

This is so right. Finished Sobek as BLU/NIN yesterday for the last 20% after the ninja got smashed up.
I alsmost full time Cloak and Dagger in Abyssea since I have dual Evasion Shamshir. When you do to much damage or people die, I hit a key for evasion set and im up to 500+ Evasion with Utsusemi + Occultation + Flash + Auroral + Head Butt to stay confortably alive.
BLU evasion set is unfortunatly underestimated by a lot of peoples.

I've always underestimated BLU evasion set because of their low *** eva skill plus their wimpy *** tier 1 evasion bonus. Oh wait 30 seconds of feather barrier. I love blu but when I want to evade I switch to DNC

Try it out before you dismiss it. It's a very nice option to use for a wide variety of things ranging from solos to CW burn to holding a mob to proc. I can evade pretty much anything except highly accurate NMs and some hero nm with my set. I have around 333 eva skill (35ish less than THF) and 100+ eva in gear.

I love BLU enough to give it a shot Draylo. When you get a chance would you mind posting your evasion set to give me some ideas? The EVA trials swords would take a little time but willing to get 2 if it gives me an evasion option for BLU that actually works.

The one thing I still think BLU could use is a Composure ability. I think that would seal the deal for me. Everything else though is icing on the cake... delicious icing...

I'm hoping Merits V.2 would include something along the lines of "Enhances Diffusion Effect". Each tier multiplying the duration of the spell cast.
Not a necessity by any means, but would be nice ^^

These mobs were T as well... pigs were lvling them up on me.
Mine is about the same, but I use AF3+2 body when outside, which is when I most commonly use that set anyways. Oh and AGI sachet.

Quote: The one thing I still think BLU could use is a Composure ability
I'm hoping Merits V.2 would include something along the lines of "Enhances Diffusion Effect". Each tier multiplying the duration of the spell cast.
Not a necessity by any means, but would be nice ^^ Diffusion merits, gross! D:

I put one merit in it back in the day for the practical use when low manning Limbus and having reset chests.
Now I find myself low manning Abyssea, I still find myself using it a lot with reset chests. TBH it comes at the cost of 10TP/CA, I am more than willing to pay it.
That merit I put in convergence about 4 years ago for the aoe-single target ability is looking very defunct though /sigh

Fully merited diffusion should really be on a 5min recast or something :/

Thanks Draylo, that helps a bunch. Forgot about that head and belt, and I've never seen the alert ring before.

This is mine atm:
I use one agi shamshir+2, it works really well. I sometimes set the trait via screwdriver + occultation but not always.
Here is an example via log (didn't get ss)
These mobs were T as well... pigs were lvling them up on me.
What kinda spell set do you use?
I was thinking of this for a general eva-tank charged burning would be slightly different nixing counter trait for CW and memento
Head Butt
Screwdriver (Evasion Bonus)
Occultation (Evasion Bonus)
Enervation (Counter)
Asuran Claws (Counter)
Disseverment (Accuracy Bonus)
Vanity Dive (Accuracy Bonus)
Sub-zero Smash (Fast Cast)
Auroral Drape (Fast Cast) (aoe blinding mobs)
Actinic Burst (Refresh) (aoe flashing mobs)
Winds of Promyvion (Refresh)
Plenilune Embrace (or fruit depending on mp needs)
Battery Charge
Whirl of Rage (aoe stunning)
Quadratic Continuum
Delta Thrust
I don't include animating cause I have a brd and whm alt who can take care of haste.

I really don't do anything special for it, the eva set by itself is enough to get my evade rate at a very decent level. I normally CW burn with a whm so I don't really set much defense wise. I can one shot everything with just BA + ascetics, I don't normally use enervation/soundblast or anything like that or even buff for that matter. The eva build takes care of my pull long enough for whm to cure me. If I'm solo it would be even easier w/occultation and stoneskin/cocoon. My spell setup is pretty similiar to yours though.

| Just a tiny tidbit of info for the upcoming version update regarding blue mage…
We will be revamping the blue magic spell list a bit to make it so the spells can be organized by element as well as level.
Current:

After the version update:

| Blue mages, your time has come! Here is some feedback from the development in regards to your comments about the job adjustment manifesto.
Quote: Add blue magic that can only be used while under the effects of Azure Lore. While it won’t be for Azure Lore, in the next version update we will be introducing a new ability that will allow you to use HNM abilities while under its effects.
There will be no need to set the HNM abilities and you will be able to use them once the ability recast timer is up (planning for 5 minutes or thereabouts).
*You will still need to learn the spell beforehand. |
Quote: Lengthen the effect duration for Azure Lore. We would like to look into doing something for this.
Quote: Reduce the overall cost of blue magic spell points. Since part of the strategy is to make a choice within set requirements, we have no plan of reducing the overall cost. We will be making balance adjustments to the increases in set numbers depending on your level.
Quote: Reduce or get rid of the penalty incurred after setting blue magic spells. The concept is that you acquire blue magic spells via learning and then you can change battle strategies by picking and choosing spells within the blue magic spell points and set limitations. If you were able to change spells freely, the whole battle strategy aspect would be lost, so we have no plans to remove/reduce the penalty.
Quote: Add an ability that allows you to use cast blue magic spells that are not currently set. We tried looking into this, but it would make having to set spells beforehand nearly pointless, so we will be putting this idea on the back burner for now.
Quote: Reduce the casting time on blue magic spells. I believe this comment is mainly meant for magical type blue spells, but the casting time has been set while considering the power, added effects, and other usages.
Though it depends on the type, the casting time is pretty reasonable when comparing to elemental magic and enhancing magic, so we have no plans to change this.
Quote: Add higher tier AoE healing magic/Will White Wind be added? We are planning to add White Wind in the upcoming version update.
Quote: Make changes so that blue magic skill, not healing magic skill enhances the cure bonus for healing-type blue magic spells. This was set this way purposefully so that the effect is enhanced more when you select a support job that has healing magic skill, and the cure amount is based on this number.
Quote: Make it possible to enhance job traits. The below job traits are set so they can be enhanced.
Dual Wield/Fast Cast/Store TP/HPmax/MPmax/Auto Regen/Counter/Magic Burst Bonus/Skill Chain Bonus
While it is not possible to enhance all of the above job traits at level 90, with further level cap increase and the addition of new blue magic spells it will be possible to enhance them.
Also, when double attack/gilfinder are enhanced, we are planning to have them change into triple attack/treasure hunter. |
