Hey guys.

I´ll do have a full HD TV i am playing on. Downloaded Windower and the new graphiks for ingame like the menue and arrows and so on. ( Downloaded the 16:09 Wildscreen Version)

If i play now on highest solution ( 1920 * 1080) it looks awesom. But the problem is all the menues and trhe inventory and so on are soooooooooooooooo tiny that my eyes hurt when i try to read it.

As backround solution i used (3840 * 2160) because someone in forum sayed you should use the double.

So i tried smaler solution. Tryed (1024 * 768) and the double for backround. Than the menue and chat window and so on are big enough to read.
The problem there is that its all to hazy and its hard to read it without hurting eyes.

Could you help me maybe what i should set up?

Played on xbox before. Would like the quality for the menue and so on from xbox but better grafics.

(Sorry for my bad english. Hope you understand what i am meaning.)

Your overlay resolution is what affects your interface and the readable parts of the game.
Your background resolution is the actual rendered graphics part of the game.
Perhaps if you can create a discrepancy between the two you can have quality graphics but low res overlay so you can read the chat boxes and whatnot.

Thing is, FFXI is designed for playing in 720p (if you use widescreen resolution) I don't think you can enlarge the ingame screen menus without lowering the screen resolution (don't quote me on this though)

1024x768 is too low, and not a true widescreen ratio.

Try 1280x720 or 1360x768. Don't go lower than 1280x720p.

Optimally, you would want to achieve dot for dot picture, which means your screen resolution matches the amount of pixels your monitor has (native monitor resolution). This is very noticeable to view text better.

But, I think your native monitor resolution is 1080p, so you are forced to make a compromise; crank down screen res, or view optimal graphics with annoyingly small chatlogs.

Yea it is. So i need to try what you sayed and make a compromise. Will try lower overlay since 1080p is to much to can read the chatlogs.
Will try 1280x720 or 1360x768.

Should i double the background solution? Like 2560x1440 or 2720x1536?

I've tried this in the past with my own setup. Seems overlay resolution only increase the resolution quality of the ingame menus, but not the actual size - so if I tried to set screen resolution to 1080p and overlay to say 270p, the menus appeared like NES graphic sporting low resolution - staying at the same size.

@Heavendragon. Doubling the vertical lines sounds wise, but the horizontal ones past 2048 doesn't seem to do much or nothing at all, but up to you. Maybe you got better eyes than me.

Don't think you will like my answer, but to "fix" it, grab a used/new LCD screen, 40' and up preferrably. Make sure its native monitor solution is 1360x768. Used ones should be really cheap by now.

If you can get a LED TV with same size/native monitor resolution, would be optimal. But do they exist? Never seen one myself personally.

Anyways, when playing in monitors native resolution, you will get the sharpest picture which is very noticeable on text, and the ingame menus are all in proportion to each other.

On my profile, click the 2nd screenshot (one with augments) then double click the picture. Check the fonts/ingame menus. They need to be readable/on par with that shot if you gonna play on a HDTV.

The picture was originally taken in 1360x768, but was cropped.

Yeah I'm playing on a 40" 1080p and I had to set my resolution to 1360x768 also because of the chatlog and icons, looks pretty nice still though.
