Unemployed at the moment. My degree is in English. I picked that simply because it was my favorite subject behind music in school. (I didn't do music because I did not believe I had what it took to make a living as a musician, although I was told by my Navy band instructor that I would have no problem getting into a military band, and I made All-State on flute both times I tried out for it. Unfortunately, we moved into an apartment and I was too scared to let the other tenants hear me play, so I have not played my music in over 5 years. I probably suck now.)

Whatever, anyways, with the jobs I am qualified to do with my degree, the best would probably be technical writing. It's not something I'm likely to love because frankly there's no art in it and it seems to me like something a monkey could do. Engineers tell you how this gadget works. You write down what they say in proper and understandable English. Anyone could do it. But the pay is good and the benefits are great. One engineering company very close to where I live even helps their technical writers finance adoptions, which is always something I've been interested in. (Even though kids are still scary!)

There is a possibility of me going back to school. I have always loved fish, fishtanks, outdoor ponds, and water life. When I first came to college I wanted very much to study marine biology, but there was no such major at my school. My husband recently saw me drooling over pictures of turtles on the internet and put his foot down. He went on a spree to find a college anywhere near here that teaches marine biology. It seems that there are no such majors anywhere in Idaho, Washington, or Montana, but I could come close if I majored in biology and minored in (or even just took classes in) fisheries and aquatic plants. We'll see how that pans out. Since I've loved fish, tanks, fish habitats, ponds, and other aquatic life since I was a little girl (I even had a collection of stuffed animals of fish, for goodness sake) I believe it's something I would very much enjoy.

I love what I do. Produce an internet radio show daily, do sales trainings around the USA monthly, fly by private jets (no airport TSA bulls*&# anymore), get paid an obscene amount of money, free corporate housing... best of all I still have time to play FFXI with you incredible people a few times a night per week.

I work full time as an ER trauma nurse. Most days I absolutely despise it. But I'm good at it and it pays the bills. Everyone always makes comments about 'but it must be cool saving lives'. Most of the time I don't look at it that way. I think I forget the significance of what we do. Sometimes though when I know we truely did save a life, all I feel is exhausted.

Part time I work as a forensics nurse on call doing rape kits and photography for sexual assaults and domestic violence cases for the police and hospital in my area. I throw in a bit of counselling, safety planning and medications for STDs etc. I find that significantly rewarding. I find usually the girls (sometimes guys) I deal with are a huge wreck when they come in, and leave much better off. That and I can safely say I'm largely responsible for a large number of huge *** being behind bars. I generally like this job except when my pager goes off at odd hours or when I'm in the middle of something fun in ffxi.

I've got my Bachelor's of Science majoring in Nursing and minor Psychology. That and certificates in all sorts of crap like forensic science, trauma etc etc etc

I work at an animal hospital as one of the vet assistants/technicians. I love it..when I get to do my job 8( My boss' other practice is the biggest in its area and we're not performing nearly as well as they are or as well as we should be. So theres lots of stress on obtaining new clients. Also we have a high turnover rate so we have to constantly train people. Ive been there the longest now and help out alot with the customer service part XP do.not.like.

people do not like paying for pet health care. I love the medical aspect of my job..I get to prep for surgery and run lab work and monitor anesthesia and do some minor procedures myself...I however am also the one who has to call the owners "by the way, your dogs heart rate dropped dangerously low in the middle of its teeth cleaning and we had to administer some medications..heres the charge" or "heres what we would like to do to treat your dog and heres how much its going to cost..." I hate dealing with peoples invoices.

atm Im in school for human nursing and graduate in December. I do not ever again want to have to worry about money aspect of a business. I hope I enjoy my next job. I would love to continue teching but its not a live off-able income and I need to be in a place where I can be oblivious to its inner workings.

both of those sound relatively exciting. I'm trying to decide which niche I fit into with nursing. I love doing/helping with medical procedures..I really don't know how to get into one of those departments. I'm afraid Ill get stuck being a floor nurse and not know how to move up from there. School clinicals are killing me and I know I'm able to do more than bathe people (not that thats not an important necessity..I would just like to stick an IV for once on a person)

That and the saving lives really just means explaining to people that they get sick sometimes and don't need an ER. Of course when they refuse to accept that you get the fun of diagnosing them with "General Malaise" and treating them with Nomahsaline.

Retail management... basically it's a lot of random work that depends on what needs to be done that day...

I hate the totally random schedule more than anything, and I'm pretty much tired of doing the same work over and over for the past few years; so I'm looking for something entirely new and more 9-5... rather than 10-6 followed by 2-10 followed by 11-7 followed by 3-9 followed by a day off followed by 1-10 on a Saturday. Throw in some overnights here and there too...

The randomness makes it tricky for me to keep up with crap like laundry, and just creates a backlog of housework, projects and errands when I actually do have a day to myself.

EMT here, I love/hate my job, most of the time its spent picking up people to appointments but we get some awesome incidents from time to time like stabbings, fights, broken bones, suspected AMIs etc. Dealing with diabetic patients can be massively entertaining. I just hate keeping the professional appearance all day with patients. Almost forgot I hate all the paperwork, tons of it everyday after every run. >.<

I feel sorry for you Melisenna, when I come in for drop offs the look on RN's and CNA's faces just show absolute depression lol

Private PC Technician, for small and local businesses.

I love my job. Basically my own boss. The only downside is there's no room for expansion and not much more room for a higher salary.

$40,000 for 2 degrees down the drain (Computer Science, Math). Whereas ~$440 in certifications got me my job.

Considering the average income in my county where my office and home are located is $92,018 (2007 estimate), and I make a mere $40,000, it's basically being stuck in a rut.

I would go insane if I hated my job. 9-5, retail, food industry, been there, done that, no thanks.

Oh god! I feel for those who are in retail and food service. I hated those jobs in high school and college. I loathed waiting and my job at The Gap.

Bartending wasn't that bad though. :) The tips were exponentially better than the ones I received from waiting, and the added bonus of people buying the bartender shots! =)

EDIT: Best part-time job EVER was as a ballet and combination dance teacher in high school! <3

A friend of mine was a bartender for like 6 years. The tips he made were insane. Plus he worked nights.

I loved overnight jobs, like at Kinkos and Exxon.

Although hectic, it was really fun! Always someone to talk to when I was feeling chatty-chatty. Well, some people were weird, but meh.

I'm an IMAX projectionist. I used to be a 35mm projectionist but 35mm film is going the way of the dodo (replaced by digital). We still run 70mm IMAX prints at our location, so those need to be manned at all times. Such fun work with such crappy pay. I see all my movies for free though, so that's a nice perk. The hours are a bit extreme but I like what I do. We develop a bit of a god complex after a while since we control everything (not to mention we're physically above everyone, looking down on them).

I work as a night time audit for a hotel chain, 11pm-7am in the morning. I really enjoy it because I get to play around on the internet and play FFXI and get paid for it. Always been unlucky throughout my life i finally feel like i lucked out with this one, Only problem i see with my job position is that all my North American players go to bed early...and i don't know of any EU players to hang with. >.<'
