I haven't been playing for a while (since before the server merge) but when I returned my logitech gamepad doesn't seem to be 100%.

I had my L3 button mapped to F8 which worked beautifully when I stopped playing but doesn't do anything now. I can assign that button an action in the ffxi gamepad config and that works in game so I know the button is working but the logitech mapping doesn't do anything. I have a G15 keyboard and all the G keys work fine, not sure why all of a sudden the "programmed" buttons on the controller stopped working.

I've tried re-installing all drivers, running in windower and non-windower modes, different computers, different controllers (I have logitech gamepads)
Does anyone know what the deal is?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, just to hazard a guess, all Logitech controllers come bundled with an application that lets you edit "profiles" (configurations) for your buttons, to configure them for individual games or applications.

It sounds like you might already be using this software to attempt to map buttons for both the keyboard and pad maybe (and it is not working?) Or you're using some other default programme (or just the FFXI button config) for it? If you don't have that running, perhaps go to their website and install the latest version (for your particular controller set up)--maybe the older version that was bundled with your pad somehow got corrupted or the default settings changed.

Thanks Schutz,
I have the latest gamepad profiler and keyboard profiler installed. I thought one may be conflicting with the other so I uninstalled both and installed just the gamepad profiler but that didn't work either. That's also why I installed it on my other other computer which I use mostly for work so there wouldn't be much on it that would conflict with the profiler.

Ah that was my one stab at it...I hope you figure out what that problem is. :/ My only other toss-out solution is maybe you installed some new peripheral or something that's now conflicting in someway since you've last played.

Do you need this for it to work?

I use a G15 also but never actually tried to use the G keys for anything.

Hi Shylaa,
I've never used that. When I use the G keys it types the command into the chat window. i usually just map stuff i don't want to dig for like quick commands to remove dusk gear while running.

I believe the binder works more like binding the G keys directly similar to binding ctrl+v to paste.

I know this is a necro post but I have an update to my OP.

I have found that in Windows 7 (both stand alone and in vmware) if I have the profiler open (the program that lets me assign the keystrokes to buttons), the custom keystrokes work. My L3 button = F8 again, yay!

It isn't enough to have the profiler running and in the system tray, it has to actually be running in a window. I'm almost certain I had the profiler open in XP but it still didn't work so this is a windows 7 and possibly Vista fix.

I hope this helps someone else out as well.
