Re-obtain Destrier Beret?

Ok so, I recently bought the Abyssea collection and used the hat code on a new character on a new server to play with a RL friend. Well they decided to quit and left me to fend for myself. I was just wondering if I delete the original character and recreated him on Levi would I be able to get the hat again or would it be forever lost in the void?

Someone said it was linked to the name onry but hearsay isn't enough for me to risk it.

I can't imagine SE would just screw you if you deleted the character... but then again it is SE.

Okay, thanks to Ragnarok.Hevans and Dameshi I was able to figure out that the hat code is linked to the ID you gave it to originally. Not the name or the server. I had a hume on phoenix but I deleted it and made a galka on another server with a different name and the moogle gave me the cap back. For those who were curious. lol.
