I'm autistic. It's not like I have Down syndrome, it's a way lighter form of autism. But it's one of the things that ruined my life till now. And it's the main reason why I can't stand to even read the word "retard", cause I've been called that so much by people bullying me at school(among the other reasons they bullied me for), and even my own brother when I was a child. It's just painful to hear cause I believe it.

Why would I loathe myself? I will admit I am not the best at everything a human could be the best at, but there is no point in a defeatist attitude about oneself. I dunno if you're an aspie like me or what, but yes, living with it does suck. I've had significant issues throughout college because of it, and I just plain can't interact with people. Even if I try, it's almost impossible to find the words to use (even typing this is difficult, and not sure where I'm even going with it >.>). However, autism and retardation are two entirely different things. I'm sure most people I run into irl think I'm an idiot based on my posture, my inability to communicate, etc. But don't believe that you're HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE just because you appear that way to other people, to me you're obviously not (you can even say things a lot better than I can >.>). I'm sure that didn't help at all, but I do feel your pain ;;
