ok So usually play on BLU/RDM soloing stuff and use my MDT- set a lot and I have about mdt-40% cause I dont always have shell IV, shell II from rdm sub, but was talking with a friend and he saysMDB does not cap and can go pass the 50% mdt cap,was wondering if this is true or not and if it IS true then why has my saline coat not been nullifying things like it use back at 75 cap, sorry if this has been asked before an if so plz link any pages you can find, ty
Aegis just broke the cap, but anything else is subject to cap
Magic Defense Bonus and Magic Damage Taken are not the same thing. MDB does not cap, MDT caps at 50%

With saline's coat and a capped MDT build, it's possible to go far beyond what an aegis can do. Not to mention that BLU gets MDB+10 if you choose to set it (or free +12 with /rdm).

Aegis stacks on MDT sets. So true -90%
MDB does not stack and is calculated based on MAB, as josiahfk explained.
Edit:
So based on that you'd need 80 MDB and MDT-50% to match aegis. And saline coat fades over time.

Besides, PLD has no issues cramming MDB into open slots after capping MDT (which only takes 5-6 slots for them).
EDIT: You'd need 400 MDB to match Aegis' additional 40% MDT if you both have capped MDT. BLU can't touch that.
damage*0.1=damage*0.5*1/x
x=(damage*0.5)/(damage*0.1)
x=0.5/0.1=5
Base value of 1.0, so you'd need to increase MDB value by 4.0 ie 400 MDB.

cause im currently standing at 71% mdt from ducal guard and gear on my bst, i was wondering how much damage i will take with Atma of a Future Fabulous (MDB+50) +71% mdt , for example a 1000 dmg nuke
