Square-Enix account Cancelled... Locked out of Account BEWARE

I made a Square-enix account for my friend because he doesnt have a PC and wanted to get the security token for the mog satchel. Anyway when i made his SE ID he wanted to change the name of it so i cancelled his SE account so i could make him a new one.... Well it turns out that you CANNOT unlink a Playonline ID or RE-activate a SE account once it has been cancelled, and since you need to use the SE acount to log into Playonline, he can no longer log in. He called the Help line today and they have no idea how to help him. The stated that Playonline is not Square-Enix, and they have no control over the problem.....

Would probably help to read the red text warnings prior to creating a Square-Enix account.

if people read the warnings before click a lot of these problems will be prevented in advance.

Yea thats true, but SE shouldnt have let you have the ability to lock yourself out of your own account. Any decent quality assurance team/ IT development team would have seen this Gaping hole in logic and said "Hey wait what if joe blow comes in and does this..." When you make a system you are supposed to test it with retards in mind so you cant "break the system". I'm sure more people have done the same thing.

Im sorry that happened =/ and i agree SE should probably do something about that, however if it was stated that could happen, its not technically SE's fault for making an system an "idiot" could break. nor am i calling you an idiot, just saying XD

I didnt read everything, i just ran through it quickly becuase i program, so i assume that they wouldnt allow you to do anything stupid like that. They dont even give u a warning when you are doing it that this will mess up your account, they are little side notes at the bottom. If you could do something to lock yourself out of the account they should have put in big red letters WARNING YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE IDs LINKED TO THIS ACCOUNT

Well keep in mind the SE account is an optional service. Just have him click on his member name and change log in settings and remove the information where your SE account login name would be. Then it should go back to being a regular old POL account.

That didnt work, once you have a SE account linked to your PoL account, the SE account is required to log in.

I didn't say you were logging in. I said you were changing your log in settings. I really really really doubt you're stuck for canceling an optional service.

try it yourself then, i changed the settings, so it does not have a SE ID entered, and it still gives the Error that the SE ID or Password is invalid.

I agree, SE can't even say if people are going to like this new item once theyve bought it. I bet a lot of people will probably be trying to cancel it, or go back to having a regular account, and I dont think SE would punish them by saying "NOOO you signed up biotch, live with it"
I'd reccomend keep trying to call them, maybe someone new will answer and be more helpful.

We did this this morning at like 9am so we had all day and all night calling customer service multiple times, and just playing with settings back and forth to try to get it to work, theres nothing we can figure out. We are going to call again tomorrow but if we get the same help we got today, idk what we can really do.

I would say just remove that member from PoL and add it again leaving out the SE account info. You should be able to just put the PoL ID and use that password instead of the SE account crap.
EDIT: nvm, posted this while you were posting

And I'm sure a lot of people are going to accidently cancel it becuase when you register your SE account now you HAVE to enter the SE Password in order to log in. I dont know about you, but i always have mine saved and its annoying entering it everytime.

They will take you out of this, that's almost sure, the problem comes when you tried to do something w/o read/check.
Now if you "program" as you say, I recommend you to stop messing around with the account settings, you could make it just more complicated for them.
Let them work and you will get your account back, waiting time is the price you need to pay for doing something w/o check.

I just tried it out and it worked. All you have to do is go to your log in settings in POL and remove your SE account name and boom, it becomes a regular old POL account again. Simply remove the pink highlighted area and save settings. Easy as that.

The only problem is you screwed yourself out of getting any benefits out of a security token including Mog Satchel unless you're allowed to make a fresh SE account and link the same POL accounts as you did before.
But please, I am 99.9% my previous post shows all you need to do to get back to playing FFXI. I tested this and it works fine. SE account login info is optional.

When you look at the member list you'll notice under your name it'll say Square-Enix account with their logo and with the user name you made instead of the OIFOS235908 whatever POL ID we're all familiar with.
All I had to do was go into the login settings and remove the SE account user name and keep the one-time password to Do Not Use. Also it's important to keep your original POL password to saved since when active your SE account info overwrites the need for it. It won't let you leave your POL password unsaved.
Ninja edit: Tried logging in the old fashioned way. You were right, it requires the SE account info even when you disable it under POL settings. This is probably just a bug SE didn't foresee. Be sure to tell POL about it and I'm sure it will be patched up relatively soon. Your account is still "active" and that's all that matters.

If you guys dont have ur token, you are prob gonna mess things up for your mog satchel. As someone stated on similar thread, GMs told him that many ppl were already making mistakes. If you activate one time pass, then deactivate it, before even getting ur token, you might have lost ur satchel already. ><
