Laptop Running Hot On FFXIV

I decided to try FFXIV ONCE AGAIN, the guildleve music turned me on. But now I don't know if I can even play it. My laptop is using soooo much power just to run FFXIV, when i put my hand right under the fan(not covering it up), it's extremely hot.. like holding a cup of hot tea. I tried setting my graphical settings to the lowest but it's still burning(figuratively, i hope).

If anyone can give me some suggestions or assistance with this problem that'd be MUCH appreciated.

Take a box fan or something and lay it down, then put the laptop over it..

That's about the best you can do. They make laptop cooling pads but I dunno how well those actually work.

I have a laptop cooling pad and it works pretty well. I like the box fan better as it will keep the comp cooler, but it's so inconvenient

I Have A Laptop cooling station as well. Its basically a metal mesh pad with three fans on it. It works very well.

The only time my Laptop overheats now is if it is running on pure battery and not plugged into ac adapter.

Something I am looking into mostly for better graphics, but may also help cooling, is getting a ViiDock, and hooking up a desktop grade graphics card to my laptop via the express card slot. The card would be docked in the ViiDock, outside the laptop, with its own cooling, so it will probably help with heat, though main purpose is obviously...better graphics card.

yea heating like this is pretty unavoidable with a laptop and XIV x.x i just put a couple equal sized books under each side of my laptop, with one pushed up so air can go through 3 sides. Then i blow a fan through the side and it circulates the air enough to keep the system pretty cool. i also put my power brick in front of the fan, idk about you, but my brick gets hot enough to cook eggs on when i run XIV x.x
