I actually got bored one day and did some number crunching in detail. I believe it came down to selling the legs, hands and feet of every set and ignoring hat and bodies.

Personally i prefer to spam the dominion op weapons, not quite as profitable as what Proth mentioned but allows you to save cruor for your next brew fix.

All 3 sets ~54k cruor, ~108k gil
Or something like that.

The augmented weapons, 2500 notes each, sell for 7k-ish each, the armor peices from trophys you can not sell as far as i know... Personally id say if you could find some one to merc brew for that would be your best bet.

With some quick calculations it's roughly 2.2 gil per cruor when buying only the hands, feet and legs... the return rate on the body and head is pretty bad compared to the other pieces. And it's probably a bit more selling somewhere that you have max fame. Either way tho the bodies and hats just aren't worth it due to the extra cruor you have to spend with almost no increase in gil return.

If you do merc brews, don't do it for less than like 450k, otherwise you could just do the aurore/perle/teal hands/legs/feet thing as stated above and make more gil. The process of zoning into abyssea, getting visiant, getting all 9 pieces from the npc, warping, selling them to an NPC, and going back, can take a while and gets pretty boring fast.
Brew is probably the more fun option, and I don't think it would be too hard to get 500k to brew something, especially if you have the atmas and can do 2 or 3 bosses at once with aeolin edge spam or something similar.

What I've found to work well is selling chocobo blinkers. Go to flux 00 and accept desert rain II. Then talk to the chocobo taker and he will sell you these in exchange for crour. I don't remember the figures off the top of my head, but after npcing blinkers it works out to something like 1 crour=2.5 gil. The good thing is you can buy blinkers by the stack, and while you will have to buy more of these than armor, you are only limited by inventory space.

Cruor * 2.645 = Gil if you do chocobo blinkers and sell at max fame
So 200,000 Cruor = 529,000 Gil

good to know! thanks for that one lol.. now I feel stupid for selling about 100 pieces of gear to vendor >_>
edit: I felt like doing the math to see how much gil I missed out on, about 95k.. not to mention the time it took to make a dozen trips..

Guisarme in Abby Altepa go for 7120gil with max fame in your home city. At 2.k Dom Notes each that's 2.848x your return in gil.
I go into Altepa with around 40 inv slots free, but all the Guisarme I can hold, then make my way back to Sandy and NPC the lot. I made over 1m gil doing that in about an hour.

Honestly, don't buy the equipment with cruor and sell it, do as mentioned above and use the much more useless Dominion Notes on the weapons.

im assuming the ppl needing the gil cant sell a brew to a LS or dont have the 200k brews yet and want a fast buck
but with how fast fell cleave party can build crour they might just want the gil too lol
back before heroes was released feet/legs/hands of sets averaged 7k/e @ NPC

700k equals about 1 million cruor. Taking all sets aurore perle etc full and npcing them makes this that much.
takes some time but you'll notice the increase in your pokcet very fast.

I'm really not one to tell people what to do with cruor but SAVE IT or you will regret it some day. When abyssea first came out i sold it all never thought that I would have all zones and caturae finished so fast. Now I am always scrambling trying to get 200k cruor for brews.

Imo, choosing one gear set and npc'ing it isn't a good choice you have to make more trips and spend the 200 cruor to go to the maw factor that in with how many runs you do and you'll quickly see you waste more cruor doing one gear set then what you would if you sold all 3 sets.

The only reason to use a brew would be to save time building a emp wep, if u have friends/LS with 12+ members u can brew 12+ mobs with 1 brew now. Might even be able to brew 18 Nms with 1 brew. With a lil luck thats 1 stage of a emp

I'll have to agree with this, it was easy to make 400-500k just selling the weapons obtained with dominion notes, I think I had roughly 150k notes at the time aswell.

I've only done cruor/notes to gil once and that was when I was in need of a quick stimulus of cash to buy sisy frags - even then I did it entirely on my alts. Please stay away from this as much as possible, I know we all need a bit of cash occasionally but you really will be regretting your action later.
What is the best (most efficient/quickest) way to turn cruor into gil by selling gear to npcs?
