I didn't play a whole lot of Black-ops due to friends boycotting it, but most of their moans came from overly large maps. Was this really an issue?
You're thinking of Bad Company 2.

All of Black Ops maps were too small, except for like Array and Discovery.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it.

I'm just saying if I were designing an FPS I would never in a million years put vehicles in it. They're not for me. Admittedly they do have really good controls in BC2, and that's where I derived a lot of my fun - Racing an ATV around Atacama Desert or whatever - But I can't bring myself to get in a tank or helicopter with the purpose of killing other people. It's just not far to me.

You mean Modern warfare black ops edition!

Game looks horribleeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Tons of "stuff" but looks so bad
See, this was exactly my point. Textbook example of a fanboy in its purest form.

Fanboy wouldn't describe someone who's owned all the CoD games up to MW3, how many BF games you owned Ent?
I have Battlefield 1 and 2 on PC, and Bad Company 2 on Xbox 360.

Edit: And I only own CoD4, MW2, and Black Ops, so that's a dead tie.
There is no such thing as "Battlefield 1". Also BF3 offers more than explosions, it's the Vehicles that make BF what it is, and a BF game isn't a BF game without the planes, BC and BC2 (along with a few other titles such as MC) are "Diet Battlefield"

To put it in perspective, the biggest map in any CoD game is like, less than half the size of the smallest BC2 map. Teams are bigger in BC2 though so it kind of balances out, but that doesn't stop you from needing to wait 15 seconds to spawn, then run for 30 seconds after that just to find anyone.

Black Ops had many problems.
Hit detection was trash. Some perk combos were overly broken. Steady Aim hip firing made any need to aim down sites completely useless...The game gimped anyone who's played a lot of FPS and was good and made your average trash player decent. Also every gun got nerfed except the AK-74u and Galil :/

Battlefield 1942, you know what I meant.

And again, I never once said BF3 is going to be a bad game by any means. Just not a game I'm likely to play all that much, aside from the two weeks before MW3, and more importantly Skyrim.

Honestly vehicles or anti-vehicle support were always balanced it's just 9/10 an idiot would screw it up for your team and you'd have to take them out the old fashion way....but a good c4 kamikaze is always fun IMO.

Perhaps the first game in a decade that has a serious chance at competing with 1.6 for the king of FPS spot granted EA plays their card right.

Which is very unlikely and makes me sad. Still a day one, very excited.

Can't wait for Battlefield 3. It'll be the multiplayer game I'll send most of my time with. Probably ask for MW3 as a gift come Christmas since the horde mode with killstreaks sounds pretty cool.

Honestly Halo's MP didn't get stupid until they launched the 3rd. 1 and 2 were very well done to be an unrealistic shooter. Bubble shield and similar items just made it stupid.

I was just pointing out BF3 has more than just explosions. Battlefield is known for the chaos that ensues during a furious struggle, but that's not all it's known for. You have a right to your opinion, and I'm not trying to debate it.

I have a CoD that I still play occasionally, CoD is fun for awhile for me, but it wears fast and fails to hold my interest.

Honestly some of the best games go overlooked because they aren't the top name titles. Medal of honor and Homefront were two of the best FPS with mechanics and gameplay yet most people didn't give it a shot. The casual gamer typically got turned of from them simply because they couldn't run in like an idiot and expect a couple kills. That's why Halo games, MW2 and Black Ops sell well. Little skill to play decently = people are interested.

I didn't mean to imply that the only thing Battlefield has is graphics. It's just all they really showcase in their trailers and gameplay stuff, and is, in my opinion, as of now, their major selling point. That and the ability to prone.

There's no need to belittle people for liking a game.

Yes, you can get a decent score without knowing too much about the game, but there's always something you can improve on and get better at. I guess you could equate Modern Warfare games to chess in that aspect. Easy to learn, impossible to master.

Ent, you and I both know though the average player in those games are rather eh though just look at the number of players who follow the CoD 5 step guide.

Edit: Albeit IDK if you've actually ever played with me before I snapped at the camping etc and just started using explosives.

Oh no you misread what I said. It's one of the things they're adding in BF3 as a new feature and one of the major things people seem to talk about.

I can say the same about BC2 honestly. Way too many people crouching in grass at the back of the map with a Recon kit, doing nothing the whole game.

And I wish I could still get games like that. The past 5 days, all games I joined were just me against one or two other people. I once joined a game against 4 people and they were all using tanks defending their Bomb site things. That's no fun at all. Especially with an Abrams which is practically invincible from the front. Carl Gustavs didn't even give me hitmarkers.

Nothing pro about quick scope especially as it was in mw2 just abusing the hit detection. Quick scoping is for MW leave it there please.

Back when BC2 first launched and games were full no one did long range sniping because no one understood it. I expect the games aren't close to max capacity now so basing judgement on the game now doesn't really make much sense.

You missed the point. Like 6 months ago or whenever it was, you said it couldn't be done at all, and I can do it just fine. And I don't even have the GOL or Barrett yet.

Honestly I don't like playing any class other than Medic, but when I do decide to play Recon, I play it at close range.

I don't get how no one could understand long range sniping.. Seems pretty intuitive to me. I'm pretty damn good at it too.. I had to prove to a friend that's not impossible to get a headshot on a moving target that's so far away he's nearly out of visual range. He was convinced it was impossible since he's so good at MW2 but failed as a sniper BC2.
