Carbuncle, Welcome Gilgamesh.

I saw a similar thread like this one for a server merge, so I figured I'd do the same.

Carbuncle, please welcome Gilgamesh server! We are a fairly populated server full of mostly inconsiderate, immature, disrespectful, rude, unfriendly, unhelpful, ungrateful, non-appreciative, selfish, self-centered ***!! If you are any sort of a competitive player, you are welcomed with a whole bunch of unwelcoming people :D! I'm mainly posting this thread from experience in abyssea, but this is pretty universal for anything on our server.

For example(s):
1. People love to watch you die and laugh and smirk as they take your claim. You are pretty much SOL to find anyone on our server willing to help you out if they are out-claimed, or just out of sheer willingness to help you period. If you plan on doing much NM camping, be sure you can take it down or we will be sure to wait until you die so we can steal it! Gilgamesh offers many, many linkshells, but very few friendly ones. Most of them interrupt other linkshells in progress of completing things, completely disregarding 'who was there first.' Again, this goes in line in that you'll most likely never find any groups waiting for you willing to help out; they'll just interrupt your pops and act like you're not there, or wait until you die and take your claim (repetitive?).

2. Leveling outside of abyssea is pretty safe, probably since no one does it anyways anymore. Leveling in abyssea is rough, though. The 'doll camp' in altepa is always over-populated with fail pick up groups that rush in front of what you are about to claim, only to claim it themselves and most likely die in the process if they aren't with their party. It's pretty amusing, but mostly annoying as f**k. Since this is one of the only places I level with a few friends, I can't speak on behalf of other abyssea leveling places, but I'm fairly certain they are pretty similar to altepa.

3. If you're the kind of person that takes things slowly and one step at a time, we don't offer too much to help, unless you luckily find a group that doesn't need what you want (read on...). You'll see many seal NM shouts, often times for what you don't need, however. That's probably because you're leveling a job that everyone else is leveling :/ Above all, I must say that WHEN and IF you join a pick up group, be sure you're getting what you came for. We have way too many people who love to invite strangers for 'help,' only to kick them from parties when things drop that they could use. This is mainly for +2 items, but I s'pose would go along with seals and other equips.

4. If you join a linkshell, and it sucks early, leave it early...90% of our linkshells (read above) are only active to get the administrators their *** (the shell leader/sack holders). You'll work your *** off to get other people what they want, and they will be everything but grateful. Also, when you ask for help on something big or small, you'll seldom receive it.

5. Often times when people get bored they sit in PJ (port jeuno) waiting for something to do, that's probably universal for all servers I'd assume. Our server, however, loves to get in verbal fights, in shouts, in the most populated of areas. I don't sit in PJ all day, but if I did I'd say you'd see roughly 5-10 short/long duration fights through shouts a day, and I'm warning you now, if you see one, don't join in because you're only asking for trouble and hateful /tell messages, lol. We do that, apparently.

Well I don't know what else to write but really I'm just getting annoyed of typing and thinking about how uncool we are and how much you will quickly hate us all, lol.

To all Gilgamesh fellows who I haven't met yet, to all Carbuncle fellows that I'm looking forward to meet, and to all those Gilgamesh fellows who I've met and are looking for a nice, warm and welcoming home, please send a /tell in game if you're the opposite of most/all of those adjectives mentioned earlier. I'm a part of one of the very few helpful and extremely friendly and open linkshells on our server, both social and event style. We are a bunch of crazy people who look at this game as exactly that, a game. We'll get things done, but we love to have fun before we even remotely consider this game a job, even though it is at times. If you're looking to work non-stop and are looking for help only to abandon the group later (you *** who have done that, /disgust) then hold your *** breath since I/we have little patience for those select few, Mizzou. Go find a different linkshell full of those just like you. We'd love to rally up the few remaining friendly people who have put up with *** as long as everyone else has, and hope that the stress in this game will be outweighed by the welcoming and friendly people we have to offer in our linkshell.

Finally, just lemme say there is no need to respond, but feel free. This is just a message to Carbuncle mates and some Gilgamesh peeps. If you do respond with trolling then I'm sorry for you for reading this and wasting your time trying to feel superior. I'm pretty sure most of the ffxiah community knows who those people are, however. Also, anyone in Gilgamesh who was offended by this, I'm truly sorry. Being from a small linkshell full of who I would consider my very close friends, I have little tolerance for blatant rudeness or p.o.s. *** in general.

I'm hoping this thread will speak on behalf of ALLLLLLL of you who have witnessed downright nonsense and disrespect from other players and who are just nervous to say or do anything about it. Just know there are people out there who go through the same ***as you, so if we come together and revive ffxi to being a friendly place, then I think we'd all have a better time =]

let me just follow up on this quick for all those thinking to reply to save yourself from looking like an ***~

in no way was i saying anything about 'fair game' rules with regards to NMs or the like. i understand completely that if people die, NMs go unclaimed, groups will claim over them, thats a fact, and unfortunately something we'll probably never not see in ffxi, ever.

i was ONLY targeting the rude qualities ive witnessed in people in my 5 years of experience in this game. it sucks, it really does, but im hoping that some day all servers will become a little bit happier and people will start being more helpful and friendlier :), is all

Maybe some life will be breathed in to Carby finally. Though, all the things you talked about happen on this server too, haha. Except the shout battles :P I'm kinda sad there's so few people on my server who post a lot on the forum.

Did you write this solely because we got the Heqets you wiped to twice?

Hell yes Carby be warned. We will steal your Heqet when you wipe to it with your NIN WAR and WHMs. Id hope youd do the same.

there is alot of compatation for empyril weapon upgrades on this server.last night we tryed to get the flea but there was litterly more players invisable at that camp then there was fleas on the ground seached area and there was 151 players in zone.

the people on gilgamesh are generally nice people though so people on carby shouldnt worry too much

On a side note though, almost none of the OP is true. Some aspects of it are (and are universal across all servers). But things like shout wars and NMs being "stolen" are pretty low.

i'd say hate is too strong of a word :P though, you pretty much described how carby is... except for the shout rants haha. i don't think i've seen a conversation in shout since... well, since i left asura o.o

The important part is that I almost have my Briareus farming done in time for the merge.

Unfortunately, that makes Sobek-a-go-go Daisakusen moar stressful.

It should be interesting to see how manners get adjusted with an overall more crowded server. Perhaps for the better, I'm hoping.

Well, welcome to Carbuncle, Gilgamesh.

So, Carbuncle... is mostly Japanese. They seem polite most of the time, probably because folks can't understand-- though sometimes we talk ***back and forth through the auto-translator. As far as the NA population is concerned, I hear that we're-- uh-- apathetic? Comparatively? "Laid back" is a phrase people have often used to describe Carbuncle to me when they've moved here from other servers.

Shouting matches-- you'll get scolded for those on Carbuncle. I'm dead serious, lol. People seem easily annoyed by shouts in general on this server. Rude shouts?-- woah boy!

I hope low-manning doesn't get too crowded with the merge, but it might be nice to have more people around who speak English and are willing to party and such. ;)

This. We are pretty laid back for the most part.

Yes we will destroy your pride, your ego, and possibly even your soul if you start a shout argument.

Carbuncle is primarily Japanese, but they're just as laid back as well, in some ways even more so than the rest.

Only things like this are allowed in shout on Carbuncle, anything else is a waste of your and our time.

also, don't trust any pick up groups on carbuncle... they're all bound to fail (though i suspect the same is for every other server)
