Soda or Pop?
Soda is the one true word for carbonated soft drinks.
Anyone who says Pop is just trolling. Growing up I have always called it soda then living with my then bf from Washington state for 4 years, He has always called it pop so it has stuck with me.
Neither, it's just "Coke".
Quote: —Regional variation note The terms soda pop, soda, and pop are widely used throughout the U.S., although pop is mainly associated with the Midland U.S. Dope is used as a synonym in the Southern U.S., especially in the South Atlantic States, and tonic is used in eastern New England. Who the hell calls it dope? Pop.

We don't call it soda or pop (or coke, unless it's coke) here in Aus, from my experience it's either name it by name (coke, pepsi, fanta etc.) or we call it soft drink as the general term. Also, pepsi is disgusting, coke ftw. you can clean stuff with coke :O its oddly amazing...

Also, pepsi is disgusting, coke ftw. It's the same as people calling any piece of tissue paper a "Kleenex". Or instead of copying a piece of paper, "Xeroxing" it. Much more common in the states than you'd think. I used to use "coke" as a general term for all carbonated drinks when I was younger. Then I grew up, started drinking Code Red, and using "soda" as the blanket term for all inferior carbonated drinks. :P Born and raised in Texas, moved to the north. When someone uses this "pop" term, I get so confused.
"want some pop?" "what is this...I don't even..." It is, and always will be, soda to me. Born in upstate NY and only knew it as soda for 21 years. Moved to Southern Ohio and people say pop.
What is a pop? My brother says "pop" all the time and it irks me to no end; like fingernails across a chalkboard. "soda" or gtfo. Same with "supper". OMFG!!!!! It's DINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
