FFXIAH Dat Section

I know there's a website for it already, but quite a few of us don't like it... Would it be possible to have a dat modding section? There's a lot of really talented dat modders here, and there could even be a tutorial section for those of us who'd like to learn but don't know where to start.

I'd love to see what some of the talented people here could do, I really would.

The forum would be set out like so in my mind:

Hume Male
Hume Female
Elvaan Male
Elvaan Female
Tarutaru
Mithra
Galka
Tutorials

I'd be down for that... i just wish alot of the original authors that were lost would resurface :(

Well my hope is that if a dat section surfaced on a popular XI community site, so would the dat modding community.

I mean everyone knows about XIAH if they've played XI.

I would love it if this happened.

I was kind of an original author. Didn't make a lot of .dats but I would be happy to contribute once I get back in the groove of making them.

I'm glad people are up for it, I'd really like to see the dat modding community reunite.

And I know XIV isn't popular here, but a similar thing could be used on the XIVpro site too, seeing as dat modding is doable in XIV too.

I have Mooshywooshy's PSN ID, haven't messaged him in a while but I can ask if he has any of his old guides from way back when. I know Noriko lurks around here, as do I, but I don't know about Mytoy or Everdyne or Mortama...

As a contributor, would you feel ok with posting dats here? I mean no pressure do what you like. I never liked how the new site kinda pressures the community to upload dats.

And I know our community would be nothing like the old XIdats community but it would be a privilege to have some of you awesome modders hanging around here ^^

I'd really be interested too, I've been following some tutorials, but it would be nice to have a forum to ask for help in a specific area you're stuck in :)

I don't like how the new site forces you to register AND write an introduction either.

Yeah neither do I. Dat modding is supposed to be fun and free like working on art.

Being tied down to a community is silly.

I feel the same way. I also don't care how some of my stuff and Taheenaa's is up there without credit being attributed.

On the plus side, I saved as many guides from fxidats as i could and still have them up on thegoblintailor if in the future someone would like to work them onto this site.

i'd be interested, i did some small scale modding and i still have ffxi installed, so i could continue to mod a little bit

i'd have to redl all the modding tools though, cause i lost them when my other comp crashed.

I also think this would be cool. I love looking at dats in the screenshot section, and having an entire section for it would be like a library of cool-looking art to browse.

Just an idea to add on, might want an 18+ section for the 'adult oriented' numerous amount's of dats out there some of us use *cough.*

I'm pretty sure Mytoy quit the game, so I doubt he's doing anything regarding dats. I am in contact with Duoblade (I've seen countless SSs of people using his AF Moogles ^.^). I also know that he talks to a couple other people from FFXIDats. It would be cool to have a Dat section, but I don't think it would necessarily work for FFXIAH.com.. only because this website is strictly for informational purposes and connecting with other players.. dat modding is a whole other ball of wax when it comes to the game. I do know that some people have been trying to keep the FFXIDats.com community alive on http://ffxidats.caarrie.org/ and they welcome people to upload old dats from the original FFXIDats.com website. As for people not getting credited, that's more because the people uploading old stuff don't know/remember the original author, but if someone tells them, they give credit. I do really miss the people from the original FFXIDats.com though.. It was such a nice community, and everyone tried to help each other out and stuff.

Probably best if that was left to Neko-Sentai or something, rules around 18+ tends to be a real pain in the ***. Plus I'd imagine ya'll wouldn't want to turn anyone away... pixellated boobs might not exactly fly well with the general crowd.

I'm in full support of this, I feel this is a more unified community than Zerio's lulzy site.

Don't forget the Pets and Misc. sections.

Also doubt this idea gets off the ground, most GOOD dat modders don't play the game anymore. Most of things that come out now are ***for most part.

I don't like the community on there at all. And I don't like how the makers of the site are pretty arrogant when people don't want to host dats. And I really don't like the way they jumped into XIdats shoes as soon as it closed without asking if it was ok with the community first.


Yeah that's what I mean. Basically just a section where you can post a topic for a dat. I'm assuming that where people upload them would be up to do the artist.

Also yeah, pets and misc section would be boss.

How exactly were they going to "ask the community"? Also how did they jump into ffxidats shoes? You realize a lot of other websites tried to replicate ffxidats but didn't really succeed? At this point in the games life who really cares? Not a lot of people care about .dats anymore sadly. This is the best thing that is left out there to store all the .dat files people loved using/never used before.

I'd love to see this happen, and I'd also like to learn a bit about it myself. I'd definitely look into some tutorials if they were available.

I've already contacted 4 or 5 of the old dat posters from XIdats, just waiting for emails back at this point.

And yeah, I still don't like how strict his website is. He also offended a lot of the older dat modders when he uploaded peoples stuff without asking, and even has a post on the forum saying nothing will be removed no matter what.

As for XI dying, Eh. People still enjoy making dats even if they don't play.

And I'm done discussing the other forum too.

as for xi dying, at least it has better playerbase than 14
