Making a big deal about this problem isnt helping anybody, I understand that this game is a good pass time and what not, and I totally agree with that because /i was working on Ukon myself. But, this problem is based from the power company. "In theory" the game could come back at any time. As soon as power company gives the ok they can turn the servers back on. Its kind of hard to give a time "when everything would be better" you know what I mean?

Who gives a flying *** really. People are dead. Chrildren are washing upon the shores. Fathers have lost wifes their chrildren people are suffering who gives a *** about this game at the moment

Bing in IT, what I find surprising is that a company that houses a game that is played internationally doesnt have servers in other countries. Since 50% + of the people who play this game are in the US, wouldn't it be a smart idea to have backup servers here?


My heart goes out to those families, it really does, but in the event of a tragedy the saying still holds true, "life goes on."

Just because Japan is going through this tragedy doesnt mean we should all just stop what we're doing and sit and watch.

Companies in Japan that have their datacenters there right now which are undergoing rolling blackouts are now considering these things - I can promise you that. Microsoft already thought of this for their datacenters and this is why they have their 3 largest in 3 different countries all on different continents. Now, Square Enix is no Microsoft, but still, now all companies should be looking at their disaster recovery plans and how their companies will survive in a post disaster scenario that effects an entire country, and not just their local home office or datacenter.

For anyone that is like can't they just move the servers? wow.... why would they wast there time with that when so much more is goin on over there, but there losing money... dont think there thinking about that at moment... Think there sitting there thinking oh no poeple are mad they cant play a game ; ;. No alota people are not with us anymore and more are lost. So get over it they will get the severs back up when it gets better over there wich will take awhile... Some people are so selfish and sorry. I don't see anything wrong with wanting the game to come back up as that would mean to me that the crisis in Japan is getting better not worse and people would be able to start putting their lives back together again...

Are you kidding? Of course they're thinking about money. Yes, it's a tragedy. Yes, it's terribly sad for them. And yes, their economy has taken a huge hit.

So let's see... My name is Mr. Japanese CEOman. My ability to eat, sleep in safety, and buy things that help me be happy, all depend on my job. Oh yeah, the same applies to my family. And my employees. And their families. What's that? Many industries are completely shut down, unable to operate at all? We're looking at a huge economic event at a time when things already aren't very great?

B. Finding a way to get back to work will help feed, clothe, and protect a bunch of people. It will also provide some stability in this time of chaos. I know that government relief can only go so far. The best thing I can do is find a way to get back to work.

That being said, I am sure they're doing their best to do that, and no, we shouldn't whine about the game (that we're not paying for atm) not being online.

Kinda tired of these kinda threads. Extreme behaviours are bad in both directions.

- Complaining cause you can't play and blaming SE is idiotic, cause they can't do anything about it. Blame the nature, the destiny, the gods, or whatever.
- Saying that people can't talk about FFXI is hypocrite, cause we have all the right to simply debate when the game might come back, as long as it doesn't fall in point 1.

Of course we have to be respectful, etc, about what's happening, but we can't just sit here mourning all day.

You think it's a coincidence that the maint is always in our prime play time?

Anyhow they have better things to worry about.Im really looking forward to it being up again but if I have to wait a week/Fortnight/Month/w/e so be it.It's back up when it's back up.I can think of a million other things to do.
