think again! not that I would, I would much rather buy it and play online with everyone else. just saying it's already out there :D

I've seen it played. And honestly who gives a ***if people cheat on first player. Do they not know how many kids cheat in other games. (For instance, Pokemon.) I mean, even PSO's successor, PSU, could play offline mode without logging on (and i'm sure tons of people cheated on PC/PS2 version, since 360 couldn't do offline mode) hell even online mode there was lots of bugs and cheating lol

I mean I understand them wanting to get rid of pirating, but in reality, it'll be all in vain because there's geniuses out there who are bound to find a way to crack it.

Yar, that's what I just deducted with one of my buddies trying to help me out. My video card is a ATI Radeon HD 4200, which is apparently low-end for gaming :S

The reason I found D2 single player so pointless is because of the cheating. Bnet made your character legitimate (and I know there were online tools as well (like maphack..), but that's another story). At the very least you couldn't make yourself 99 and have best gear with the click of a button.

So now you can still play solo through an entire campaign, but your character is legitimized by bnet. AND should you choose to join up in someone else's game, you don't have to reroll on bnet because your solo character is already ready to go.

The thing about piracy is, the very things that will break the code to allow for bnetd will also allow people to "modify" other values that blizzard is policing on bnet servers. People will be able to freely give themselves any item/level/ability they want, and cheating will be absolutely rampant on hacked servers.

"Why bother" is my question. I have no interest in playing in that type of environment. What's an enjoyable game if played legally quickly dissolves into group masturbation when left in the hands of self-entitled 13 year olds.

and some people enjoy not being restricted on the things they buy, it's not that hard of a concept to understand.

I'll eventually pirate this, be able to play single player, and will do so without cheating, I have no interest in using hacks to get through the game, I have an interest in not having to be online to play a single player mode.

I'm definitely not the only one.

my girlfriend bought it and is playing single player right now, 100k (gil) says she'll get bored with it in 5 seconds and not play again.

I heard most people from the beta say about 45 minutes to 1 hour and then they never tried more of it lol.

sounds about right, I only played the Beta once, it's just a demo for all intensive purposes, why would anyone wanna constatly play the demo is beyond me XD

Been playing for a couple of hours solo, here are my thoughts/opinions.

Like everyone else has said, definitely just an updated D2 (though not necessarily a bad thing).
This game is geared towards people who enjoyed the old games.
Currently only the in game gold system AH is available... think ebay and you will know what it is like.
Going pew pew on Demon Hunter reminds me of going pew pew on amazon.

The AH is pretty well laid out with decent filtering options, not too many people asking retardedly high prices for things. In all honesty it has made it easier to upgrade equipment at a casual rate paying only what I want to pay. If the real money AH goes as smoothly as the in game money is right now, I see it working out well.

I will gladly pay $5~$20 a month on random ***that I want and not feel I have wasted money. I will happily think of it as just paying an online subscription fee. And if that isn't your thing, there is always the gold based AH (which hardcore players can only use).

Overall, I give it a 7/10. Nothing terribly original thus far, the grind is enjoyable for me though and I can see myself dumping more hours of my life then I really need to into this game. Great pick up and play as the old ones were so I can just kill for a couple of hours, accomplish what I want, and set it down at ultimately any time.

If you don't like plowing through hordes of zombies/demons/what-have-yous for no real reason other then killing stuff and finding random shinies then this is not the game for you. If you played D2, beat it, and never touched it again, you will feel as if you have wasted money.

On the flip side, if you enjoyed the first two diablos, and need a mildly pointless game to kill time and alleviate boredom, this game does it very well. If you played more hours then you care to count on D2, you will enjoy this.

Down the road I can definitely see this game being a blast doing runs with friends online (and making new ones!) akin to D2... only with less cheating and 13 year olds hopefully.

I'm sure there will be a lot of people who feel they have wasted money on just a rehash, but thus far it has been $60 well spent for me.

It's opening day. Give them at least 2 months to get their servers straightened out and the newness of the game to wear off a bit.

No server is going to be perfect on day one and it takes time to work out the kinks and upgrade your servers.

From playing it, this game was aimed at a niche audience, not a mass crowd like it got. It baffles me as to why everyone and their mother thought this was going to be more then another hack-and-slash dungeon crawler.

Is it the greatest game in the world? No. Will people who like grinding through dungeons like this? Yes.

And it is -free- to play online. No Blizzard store to sell you the ultimate sword of doom, no subscription fees, just free.
