Final Fantasy VII Sucks

The older FF's seemed to be much longer and more slow paced iMO....I wouldn't say boring the new FF's are just a lot more linear and the story moves muchhh faster.

This is pretty much the mental image I had placed on cloud and now I actually ahve a visual...although IDK if I could watch FFVII:AC without cracking up now. It would be easier to play VII since 98% of the game Cloud is facing away from camera.

what about the battle graphics? they looked pretty good to me. character, summons, weapons details.. etc.

FFVII is hardly the "worst game every made", but it certainly wasn't as good as VIII.

I think people like to forget how much nostalgia effects a persons opinion of something. I'm from that generation of ff7 likers because like a lot of people it was our first ff game and we enjoyed it and got us into the fandom.

Its the same for everything else that has ever been a fad or fandom.

Whether you like it or not is your opinion. I do like it and it holds a special place in my heart with my other likes and dislikes.

Game is responsible for causing stagnation. After it was released, everyone was popping a *** over shitty ps1 3D and cg movies. Except they were not Squaresoft and could not replicate ff7 so they were mostly doomed to failure. So we had all these half-assed shitty 3D games which shouldn't have been 3D.

FF7 also almost single handedly killed the sega saturn, dreamcast, n64 and cube. FF7 killed every franchise on these systems except for like the big nintendo franchises (like zelda, mario, kirby, mario kart, etc).

FF7 also killed nearly tons of franchises on ps1 as well.

FF7 also killed PC rpgs such as baldurs gate, fallout, planescape and the companies behind them. Because people were ignoring them while being *** because they were spooging over animu cause they were bullshitted into thinking it was "new and exciting" when it really wasn't.

Because people were only buying shitty Square games. Was it worth it? Was it really worth it?

FF7 was a shitty game back then, and is still ***now. The only people who would like this ***must be idiotic wapanese.

The game is ***, the story is ***. Japanese RPGs suck a ducks ***. They have shitty stories about characters no one gives two cents worth of ***about and they're all like this.

I have to give it credit for being one of the first three dimensional RPGs out, and having a relatively open and dynamic world filled with various elements combined to make a solid and memorable Final Fantasy.

Critical acclaim and people's opinions aside, the value of a game ultimately comes down to your enjoyment, and I thoroughly enjoyed FFVII. However, not remotely as much as VI which strangely I played after VII

X kept me asleep (Great story? Srsly?), VII was my starting one, VIII love it, IX Frustrated me (the second disk was damaged), VI Best EVAR!, XI I still play, XII well was occupied with XI still, XIII bought it play it for a bit and got stolen.

VII marks videogame history as it had cutting edge graphics at his time, so your argument about the graphics sucking is invalid. Its still in the top 50 games that changed video game history, also has one of the most saddest parts in videogame history and lastly one of the best scores.

very overrated, horribly overhyped, it was not my first FF game, 1 was. comming from 6 to 7 was a shock. however, once the shock wore, you are just left with a a bunch of emos running around a field, killing one of the worst villians ever. guy didn't do ***. comming into sephiroth, from Kefka, who succeeded in destroying the world? go back to evil grade school Seffy, we will call you when you matter.

FFVI was the best. Then FFIV. After that... doesn't really matter. The truth is... once squaresoft became squareenix... FF went to ***.

Honestly, what FFVII did best was timing. The game was not really groundbreaking, but it was released at a time when a large number of young, impressionable gamers were picking up their first RPGs and thus the experience of FFVII was a big *** deal that set a standard for years to come. That aside, it was a good but not exceptional or groundbreaking game. It wasn't terrible by any stretch either.

i agree. the problem is, better game get pushed aside, due to this unfuckinggodly fanbase this game has put out, even for a mediocre JRPG.
then again, if it wasn't FF7, it would of been something else, and we would be seeing everyone and their mom cosplaying that..

I hated 1 and 2

I played the DS version of 3 and the best part about it was the music in one of the final dungeons..it was epic.

IV...much better than 1 and 2

V havent played yet, its still in its box.

VI..I didnt like it..I did like the opera scene, but I cared about absolutely none of the characters. If it had been my first FF game though who knows what I would have thought about it. I do also like the fact that the beginning of the opera is essentially the FF7 theme. It makes me go "awwww T_T so sweet, thats where this music comes from" and can give chills. But I played FF7 first so I do associate it with ff7. I think I might have liked 4s characters better than 6s, except Rydia because she's an idiot "you killed my family but lets be friends! /cling".

VII. I think I like it best purely for nostalgia reasons. Also has a good soundtrack that Ill love forever.

VIII. This game cause me too much frustration. Only good thing I liked was Eyes on Me.

IX was amazing in every way. Actually I think this is the best FF yet..maybe..I dont know.

X. The music! To Zanarkand=if I was hormonal I could cry. I liked the somewhat tragic ending too until the sequal ruined it.

XII. I learned the best way to enjoy this was by watching it like it was a starwars marathon. Nobody believes me but trust me, Just watch all the cutscenes on youtube straight through. I had fun trying to explain the similarities of the battle system to ffxis battle system to some people and all I got was blank stares and "wtf ff11? people play that". Srsly, just watch it like a movie, you'll probably like it better. It has the best voice acting of any FF and Balthier is hot. Gabranth is hot too. But Balthier is still hot. And British.

There was no excuse for FF13, we couldnt finish it..it was bad.

I think this is true. The PS1 coming out was a huge deal. FF7 just happened to be the SE game to come out on it. If FF7 had by some chance..been a super nintendo game it probably wouldnt have done well and FF8 could have been the lifechanging game. If FF6 had been super delayed in development and released on the PS1 then it probably would have been what FF7 is instead. If it hadnt have been FF7 it would have been some other game that everybody would hate because its popular and call it overrated. I think it was just good timing. Doesnt mean we still cant enjoy it though.

all in all I think we can all agree that Legend of Dragoon is the best ps1 rpg ever.
