Rate Downs.

Speaking of which I haven't seen him post in a while, I wonder what happened to him.

Rate downs are pretty dumb tbh, everyone who -'s means they agree and adore me though.

No actually it means they disagree and dislike you. But I can see where it would be confusing.

I for one would like to hear the mods opinions on removing the rate down function, it's been brought up in several threads in the past but they never commented on it.

I think rating up should stay, but rate downs get abused a lot more as a means of exacting butthurt revenge against someone.

Rate-ups are a good way to find the "best" threads/posts. Makes it simple and easy for casual forums browsers to seek out the better content that's most likely to be worthwhile.

However, rate-downs are useless, as Spicy stated (I'm going out on a limb in believing Spicy is being serious here and not just being a sarcastic buttmunch).

It would be more streamlined and more purposeful if users could select "Rate Up" or "Report" only. That way, users still have a means to flag any seriously offensive posts, and they can still meaningfully express approval of a post with the [+] button.

Eliminating the rate-downs could be a positive step towards a more civilized culture here on these forums.

Yeah rate downs are rather pointless...lol not really going to change my opinion on what I am viewing..

I wouldn't mind having the rate down function removed. Even the rate-ups. They're not really an indicator for much anymore except maybe in the lol-pic thread, where if I see a rate-up on a video I'll actually watch it (my internet sucks so I can't just watch everything).
