Final Fantasy VII

I don't mind if you disagree with me on it, but implying that everyone must hold the view that VII is teh best game evar is pretty stupid imo.


Yeah Blank's levels went to Amarant, if I were doing that, I'd give him Flair probably just to make him essentially amarant lol.

I think you'll find that I have a fair view of all Final Fantasy games.

Problem with writing me off as a typical fanboy for the sake of nostalgia, is that I didn't play any FF games until about 2002. I was finally convinced by a few friends to play 7, 8, and 9 (during that whole "omg FFX is so fun" craze). I didn't have a PS2 or FFX obviously, but my best friend did let me borrow all the FF games.

I played them in order, over the course of about two weeks. And I've played all three since, multiple times. I have never implied that 8 or 9 were subpar in any way, and I have never implied that FF7 was my favorite of them.

In fact, if I had to put them in order, I would say FF8 > FF7 > FF9. But JUST because it's second place does NOT make it a bad game. That's exactly what you're saying. You're going against a fanbase of possibly hundreds of millions, just because you think FF9 was better.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but when you say "This game is so lame, FF9 was better in every way", you sound no different than those 12 year old boys on PSN or Xbox Live saying "Oh mah god, kid, stop camping!".

Mediocre =/= Bad

And yes, that is how opinions work, I think FFIX is better, therefore to me it was better.

Deal with it?

I liked FF9 because Zidane is a monkey boy.
So my Journey To the West and Dragon Ball fanboi-isms trumped any FF fanboi-isms.

I thought Zidane had one of the best FF stories. Cloud too for that matter, Cloud's story was one of the only things I really enjoyed about VII.

I'm an FF series in general fanboy too, can't help myself.

I actually started playing XIII again and I'm having a blast with it.

Mediocre = average or less than average. That's something you say about the new John Mayer album, not about a game that's almost exclusively heralded as the best game of all time.

You're not speaking like it was an opinion. You're speaking like "it's cliche'd and the characters were meh and the ability system was so unbalanced" when it's just blatant lack of knowledge on the subject if you say it's cliche'd. The characters (When compared to FF8's characters who all felt weak and uneducated or FF9's generic WHM, SMN, DRG archetypes), were at the very least fun to play, even if you ignore their personalities. And (This part is not opinion, it's fact) apart from FFXI, the Materia system was the most balanced system in a Final Fantasy game in the past 15 years.

I wasn't defending anything. I just know that when you're posting in an FF7 thread, it's just to gloat about how you think you're so superior because you can insult topics generally regarded as favorable, with no real basis in reality.

With that said I'm not going to pretend it's the greatest thing ever. I know it has flaws, I know a lot of games are better. I still like it more... just... because. IE WoW's a better game, but I still enjoy FFXI more.

Yeah, I really hope they don't. STAR OCEAN 2 SUP. Maybe have voices for some of the major CSes, but most certainly not for the majority of the game. I'll shank a *** if I have to listen to Yuffie more than 5sec.

I've heard of it, but I thought it was just a patch for the original PC version (which I don't have, I guess I could torrent it?). And I've heard it's shitty on newer computers is this true/false? D:

The remade version had the Black mages covering all the tracks and it was pretty cool.

My friend made a few changes to it though, and used orchestrated versions of all the songs instead at really high quality.

It runs fine on Windows 7, there's a patch for it specifically.
