I think I used the gameshark to get it sometimes, but I would have rather got it on my own. You know, gamer pride and all.

I need to play through again, was 53~ when I beat it, couldn't take down Ozma at the time, then again that was years ago...
I recently finished it, I fought Necron at 45ish and it was actually really challenging which was fun.
Beat Ozma and Quale at 62 using Zidane, Vivi, Steiner and Amarant.
I seriously love that game, I didn't remember how much until I played it again. VIII too.
I was going to play VIII next, but I picked up Eternal Sonata and I'm enjoying that atm.

No it's the part I say I think VII is mediocre and doesn't deserve all the praise it gets. I don't think I've ever said I HATED VII.

8's weird for me, It's like a love/hate thing, I love it, but at the same time I find the majority of the game to be very tedious and I just can't wait until I'm doing what in particular I'm doing, idk...
I enjoyed 8's story, battle system was a bit funky but fun. Loved the characters too.
I never considered Quale an ultimate boss ;x, he could be beaten when you first get Quina lol. I loved ff9 too, one of my favorites. Also towards the end of the game I just had 9999 physical attacks so didn't matter. I just recently played it myself and it was really easy, I need to stop leveling too high. I love my pt of Beatrix, Dagger, Vivi and Quina.
I sharked Beatrix in on an old run of it, only problem was she lacked physical power because she was locked into the save the queen. She had potent SWD arts though, so I guess it's not that big an issue. Isn't it impossible to give her abilities too though?
I used Quina on one play through, he's a good universal character. Amarant is my favourite though, No mercy and Chakra are boss.

What makes it mediocre? Besides the graphics (To be easily overlooked, especially if they're planning a remake), there's really nothing to complain about.
You think the tens of millions of adoring fans (Lol Oblivion) could possibly all just be joking? It's not really a good game, we're all just kidding?

yeah it's one of my favorite games, I don't get why I feel the need to rush through it when I play, maybe for rehashing the story, idk...
And this is the part where Flion's probably writing a long, drawn-out rant about how everything about FF7 was totally abysmal and if he were stuck in one of those Saw traps, if he had to play FF7 to continue living, he would rather end his own life.

Actually she had the best physical power towards the end of the game. Her sword is unique in that it levels up with her or something like that, so she can deal a ton of dmg with just regular attacks and it also increases her stats a large amount every level up. Her Seiken abilites will suck though because they depend on the base dmg of the weapon. You can fix her/steiner's thunder slash and give her various abilties through gameshark/cwcheat also but it makes her very overpowered lol, also you can swap her weapon out with the same means.

The story was mediocre and clichéd, the cast wasn't anything special and the ability system had serious flaws.
Doesn't make it a bad game, but certainly doesn't make it the "BEST GAME EVER"

Yeah they have mods that let you move around peoples abilties sets and stuff. I've messed around with Blank (have to remove amarant or something liek that, or maybe Quina it was) and gave him Seiken (Beatrix skills) abilties and black magic lol.
