Final Fantasy VII

final fantasy adventure, I and II that were re-released, jp's 3, 4 and 5. i'd say yeah i have.

I have, and the amounts are very similar, 10%-30% isn't much of a difference.

FFI has the Sky Fortress and Mirage Tower. And an airship.

FFII/IV has the Tower of Zot, Tower of Babil and Giant of Babil, fleets of airships, and lunar flight on a massive airship.

FFVI is practically as futuristic as VII, only with lesser graphics.

I haven't finished V or III. or the new II, that developement system pisses me off.

I bet you played them after FF7 had already been out.

I agree with this. FFVII was perfect the way it was, but then they took a hammer to the canon when they added all the other games. I'd feel a little better if they tried to straighten out the canon with a remake. :/

adventure was my cherry pop actually, but yeah as for the rest of them i hadn't played until i played 7.

All this talk of nostalgia makes me wish I didn't have to work tonight so I could play one :D

It's kind of a moot point anyway. It's almost like saying you liked Super Mario Land, Mario Sunshine, Mario Galaxy, the new Mario Brothers, but had no interest in Mario 64 because of the blocky graphics. Whereas I guarantee, if you like all those ones I said, you'll like 64 too. Whether or not you've played or liked any of the earliest versions is actually pretty irrelevant.

Alright, Blazza I'll try a little more toned down since you're tone is more genuine and not trollish like Jet. Honestly? I hadn't thought about it that much, and in my previous rantings I was kinda trying to work that out, and I obviously failed. I loved every FF 1-6, but 7 just didn't do it for me. I'm not going to sit here and write out a thesis statement to try and justify my logic, it just didn't interest me. Couple that in with already knowing every major plot spoiler, and I can comfortably say I have no interest in the game. I didn't like the way it looked(although the cutscenes were very impressive for the time). I dunno, I just didn't want to play it.

Add in years of hype and fanboy-ism, and it just took my disinterest to a further level.

Have you ever sat and flipped through channels, landed on a show, and simply decided "meh" and kept flipping through more channels? Did you need a thesis statement of logic to explain why other than it just didn't interest you? That was how I was with 7. I didn't realize I was committing a crime by disliking a FF game.

All I gotta say is this:

Crystalis or die.

You aren't commuting a crime by disliking it.
You are commuting a crime by openly stating it and not giving an excuse that is satisfactory to them.
Don't feel bad, there won't ever be an excuse that will sate fanboy appetites though.

Broke my FF Cherry, although I didn't know it at the time. The Final Fantasy part never caught my eye until I was ~11.

As far as story goes, Tactics is king in my opinion. It also helps that Ramza's probably the most heroic FF hero in the series.

Of course I have. I've also heard from friends later on that it's a *** fantastic show, gone back and given it more of a chance and loved it.

Anyway, Idc what you do, but if you ever get the time, I definitely recommend giving it a second chance.

Played that briefly. I should probably have another go at it. Didn't interest me like Tactics did from the get-go.

Also, *** you Algus. *** you.

Tactics Ogre has a much larger scope of things and quite a few other elements.
My favorite old school tactics game.
Disgaea fits that hole now so far though.
Unless Wafku happens to impress when it comes out on DS.

As I said, I should probably give it a go.

And I REALLY need to play Disgaea. I've been meaning to for years, but I never got around to getting it.

I'd prefer an FFIX sequel.

Give a reason to obtain Excalibur 2, go.

I've never nor will I ever obtain the Excalibur II, it's the only part of IX that annoys me.

people will always speed run games, so I suppose it's a nice reward to obtain if you do, though it's pretty much pointless level 65+.

Argh, I hated that they made Excalibur 2 time based. I'm a completionist, and it drove my OCD crazy that I couldn't get it.

It was actually impossible to get it on the PAL version, even though it was in the game.
